If you ever played WoW for a long time, it would be impossible to avoid the constant arguments that class XXX is overpowered/underpowered. As an example, there is currently a thread at wow-europe. 17 pages (~200 replies) where 99% reply that warlock is the most overpowered class atm. And this happens all the time.
Most of these arguments are only based on opinion without regard to actual skill, but there are exceptions. This guy in the US made three movies called "World of Roguecraft, showing that the Rogue can at times be immensely powerful.
This guy kills people naked. He has basic clothes on himself, and the starting dagger (yes, the dagger all rogues start with at lvl 1). This in a game that is equipment-crazy. And not only that, but most people he kills aren't jsut some random dumb-asses he encounters. These are guys with PvP gear. And when it says rank 14, that means the guy he is killing has spent the last 3 months sleeping, eating and PvPing. He has not gone to the bathroom, because there is no time for that if you want to reach rank 14.

about warlocks the thing is that its too bloody easy to kill almost anyone without having any skill. You have to be extremely skilled (and properly equipped) to do that with most other classes. Most have their bane anyways (warriors can easily nuke rogues and shamans for example, while they get rocked by mages - mages can easily take warriors, but have massive trouble against priests and warlocks mainly etc). But there was some nerf for the warlocks in the latest patch, so i'm slightly happier for a change

especially as mage (if you're not undead and see a warlock running towards you with hostile intentions just run...) i cant do more than agree with everyone. Even their pets (Felhunters) can solo us, its a shame. Just think of a warlock DoTing us and then fear us and /lol till we die... It takes too little skill to kill anyone as a lock. They nerfed the DoTs atm but its still not enough. Nerf some more! ;P

lol! And an overpowered class you'll get! (It's generally known that whenever a "nerf locks" thread appears on the official forums Blizzard buffs them even more! :P)
Anyway, if you're not going alliance for it i'd strongly suggest a Blood Elf warlock. Their casters are simply the best around (silence and mana drain racials, omg!)
dude, i need a better computer, a good paying job, and this game. that would make my year. even better would be to switch between WoW and diablo 3 whenever it comes out. most people bash WoW, but i think that its capitalism at work. that is, people pay and keep paying for good product, thus the product must be really good to make the kind of money that WoW has generated.
this game besides what you said needs one more thing to experience best: Time. It takes too much time. Its impossible to log in, do a couple mf runs and then log back out. Just to move to the places you want takes time (huge, huge world - a friend i just dragged from Diablo to WoW keeps saying that). And you get so much carried away you really forget time and dont notice how fast it passes.
But its as you said, capitalism at work. Good product and we keep paying for the quality we get.
dude, have you checked my sig? ive played 99 hours of diablo since november 23rd. that was also after my slowing down in gaming. before that i would be on diablo nonestop, now ive been in FF7, a lil guild wars, and job searching. like i said, i need a good paying job. anyways i got way too much time on my hands, and i like blizzards way of games, thats why WoW would probably be better for me than GW. not that GW wasnt good, just that i like blizzard games better for their godly superiority.

Wait, I thought that was the bubble-boys
ANyway, yes, I will make a Blood Elf. I could care less about racials, but lore-wise there are few things more fitting right now.
And yes, WoW takes time. You say 99 hours since noverber 23rd? That's about 50 days, meaning two hours a day. That won't cut it. There are very many who have over 100 days /played. On one character!
When I played WoW, I didn't have time for any other games. Didn't get up to 100 days, but I wonder how high up you are Fingol. You don't run Naxx ove one night.

well, like i said thats about the time i started to slow down in my gaming. i dont game too much nowadays, because im concentrating my energies on the forum and on job searching. those are only the diablo hours too, not including the guild wars hours i played.

well, to answer this question, i got 86 days played on my main char (Fanya), about 29-30 on my first alt (rogue - Fuine)
and about 18-20 on my 2nd alt (warrior - Kakomoiris)
(only talking about lvl 60 characters btw - but Fanya now is lvl 61 *cheers for the Expansion*
i kinda split up my non-raid time to alts etc (that i deleted if i didnt like) and didnt get one characters played time too high. We have some people in guild with over 150 played hours on their mains, thats huge.
and to Carloseus... if you like burst dmg in close combat then you should definitely make a rogue. It just ROCKS!
and to Carloseus... if you like burst dmg in close combat then you should definitely make a rogue. It just ROCKS!
Dude, roll a warrior, they're rogues in plate
Fingol, that is a lot of time. I do not have half of that. Or had I should say.
It's important that yo select the right class though Carloseus. I'll even write you a little min-guide to them.
Warrior: No. Imensely underpowered, dies from focused fire, needs good gear or else R.I.P. And there are too many, so you can't find groups.
Rogue: Underpowered, way too many, nobody wants in a group, skip.
Paladin: a.k.a Bubble-boys. Can survive like mad, but have crappy DPS. Turns into heal-bot in end-instances. Too many, especially blood elves. Don't roll.
Hunter: Only played by chinese farmers and 10 year ld legolas fan-boyz (or Gimli fanboyz). Too many, don't roll.
Shaman: Used to be teh 1337 class, but got nerfed. Turns into heal-bot in end-insances, and forced to spec healing. Don't roll.
Priest: Can't DPS or solo, becomes healbot in end instances, has to respec to play, costly.
Mage: a.k.a Vending Machine, don't play unless you want to make water and food for random Legololz wandering by in Ironforge. May also be known as portal guy, opening portals to Ironforge and Stormwind. Don't expect to get to play anything once reaching 60 (now 70).
Warlock: Also known as OMG overpowered! Lot's of poweful spells, but needs to carry around 10^34 soulshards. You will als be continually spammed with PM's about summonings, muh like a mage.
Druid: Combines everything above stated in a nice and balanced mix.
BTW, I am joking, but some of it isn't far from the truth.

some things changed alot, let me correct a few mistakes and show some of the good points in each class:
Warrior: high damage and survivability, pretty gear dependent, has alot downtime if you dont have a mage friend to provide you with food. - In end-game you can successfully deal damage or hold the bosses off other classes (tanking). All depends on the spec. - PvP nightmare: Mage, Paladin
Rogue: highest single target damage in the game. But as Phrozen said there are too many indeed. pretty gear dependent, especially from their weapons. Not as high survivability as warriors but they have alot tricks. PvP nightmare: Warrior/Warlock/Hunter
Paladin: I got to agree with Phrozen on most things. they can survive from an army of enemies. They'd die of old age (if you dont first). Anyway, with the right gear and the right specs even paladins can deal some damage atm. They're mainly used as buffers and healers in end-game atm. Should change a bit in the expansion with all these undead-demon enemies. PvP nightmare: Mage/Warlock/Priest/Druid
Hunter: Phrozen, ur sadly right again! I only met 2 good hunters atm and believe me, i know half the server Mainly kids or farmers (sometimes kids who are farmers). Anyway, after the patch they got even stronger in ranged dmg and have some unfair solutions in matter survivability. Many tricks, many interesting things to do. PvP Nightmare: not too sure about that, used to be Mage but with the new patch they're too overpowered for us. Maybe Warriors/Druids/Warlocks
Shaman: can do almost everything. Decent healing, decent melee dmg, decent spell dmg. But he isnt best in any. Gear dependent when it comes to each spec. PvP nightmare: Warriors/Rogues
Priest: Now here ur wrong, Phrozen. As shadow priest you have some of the highest spell dmg in the game. But even as a holy you can kill without many problems. Not as gear dependent as many classes, can survive easily with the healing spells he has. PvP nightmare: Rogues/Shamans
Mage: my love! we are indeed considered water/food vendors (getting random whispers by farmers saying "<xxxx> whispers: food 100?" is really common) but people want us for more than that (no i dont mean the portals). Mages deal the highest spell dps of the game. We cant really survive if the enemy comes in close range but most of the time he dies before that anyway We're also the only class that has so easy job killing whole groups of monsters. And our downtime is pretty low since we dont ever pay for food or water as all other classes do (sometimes we even sell our conjured food/water). PvP nightmare: Warlocks (arghh!)/Rogues/Priests(if shadow specced) and Hunters (after the patch... nerf!)
Warlock: Phrozen, its not like "OMG overpowered!" its like "NERF!!!!" Anyway, warlocks do alot spell dmg, have unfairly much life from their class gear and many usefull tricks (4 fear spells). They also use damage over time spells that get you killed even if you killed the warlock. Right about the soulshards and summon whispers too, Phrozen, nothing changed in that! PvP nightmare: Warriors (cant think of any more classes)
Druid: the strongest combo class in the game, but really gear dependent. They can play like a rogue, warrior, healer or some sort of mage (but not that successfully ofc). Anyway it really offers a way to change things completely if you're bored of one play style (and bored to lvl another class).
PS. Almost 62 atm. the lvling is way harder than it used to be but theres alot stuff to see and do! Just awesome!
