Very well. But I think Doppel makes a valid point with this.

it is losely based on a real event for the purpose of making a dumb Hollywood romantic spectaculair effects cashcow
Here is where I also find the director's intentions disingenuous. A predictable and cliche love story with all the elements of a villain and hero, then it is all made epic with the Titanic backdrop as this overglorified special effects travesty. It's like a really lame story, but you're manipulated into thinking it is an incredible story just because of the grand scale of everything happening around it.
And my biggest problem in this thread is still with Death Sinner's comment, which he still has yet to respond to. How he assumed that cause I thought that scene with all the CGI people falling was funny that I must obviously think a movie about the Holocaust is also funny. Completely asinine and accusatory. By the way fbim, did you read that abridged script I posted. I think you may find it funny.
All the movie Titanic is, is a made up love story that was thrust into a setting and event that would draw people in. Had this movie had a different setting, i doubt it would have been so popular. It was a smart move on the director's part but you cannot say that this is an fully accurate depiction of what happened the day the Titanic sunk. Sure the movie had its sad parts (the Irish kids trapped on the lower deck as the ship flooded), but it was no more than just a smart way to make some good money.
Also, at the laughing at people dying issue. It isn't really laughing at people dying. It's all fake anyways. It's not like siaynoq here is going to a burning building and laughing as real people are dying inside. Everyone here has played a violent game with involves killing people. The reason that you morally perfect people play them is because you find them entertaining because you aren't killing real people. Basically that's the same concept.

I've been in movies that were based on real events.. like masses of people dying and such and people laughing and shit.. It gets annoying and I get pissed.
Especially when me and one of my friends were watching this movies about Anne Frank in World History and this guy and his girlfriends were laughing when they showed the bodies being pushed around in wheel-barrows. It really pissed me off to see how people can laugh at something like that.
As for the Titanic thing with all the CGI people hitting and bouncing off the propellors and such.. I do admit I laughed.. but I'd never at something as say.. the Halucaust.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.

I would never laugh at anything like that, but some of the movies death are really cheezy that the only thing you can do it laugh. Like one time in class my class was watching gone with the wind and the this man and that little girl fell off their horses and died. I just started burst out laughing and I was the only one laughing. I felt so horrible afterwards.:(
I'm a pretty demented person.. lol
That's something fine to laugh at. I laugh at a lot of the death's in horror movies.. but I know what things are to be taken serious.. and what are not.
All my friends laughed at the video of Saddam being hung.. but I could not.
I still haven't an idea why.. and this was a pretty fucked up guy too.
He derseved it.. but at the same time didn't.. it's hard to explain.
(this is where i sound stupid) >.<

Real death is different than the imitation, I found myself watching a guy get his head cut off one day by a couple of towel headed sand ngrs (fucking internetses), it was 1000x more morbid than any horror movie scene ever.
