Basically, the forums have been feeling really down lately, for many reasons.
First of all, Teh and Siaynoq leaving has left the site a lot more bland and empty. They were both huge parts of the community and made it a lot more interesting. Without them, the forums aren't nearly as interesting, I'm sure we can all agree with that.
As well, many leading figures (Jetrall for instance) in the forums have slunk back and are less active then they used to be, or could be. Once again leaving the forum feeling very bland.
There must be other reasons because the forums have undergone many vast changes in the past while.
Recently, I have noticed that my post count per day is rapidly dropping. I used to post 15+ a day. In the past 3 days I've posted about 10 times. I believe this is because of the general lack of interesting, not necessarily topics, but discussion that come out of them.
Also, SICK, the clan. Recently, it has sucked. Yea, just sucked.
Tavern of Jay, nothing goes on, even though there are like 50 kajillion posts a day.
Forum Games, non existant.
Sig shops, prevailant and taking up most of the forum, against most of our will.
Political discussion, none.
Friendly flame wars, nada.
Unfriendly flame wars, zero.
Controversial topics, lacking.
Etc.
This SUCKS!
So yea, just thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone else is feeling that the forums aren't up to par lately.
yah i was wondering why no body has even brought up politics. I was going to but i thought, well since no one has brought it up maybe politics are taboo in this forum. I don't though winston, it kinda seem a little slow right now.

The forums these days to say the least are boring. They suck. Compared to what they used to be, they are nothing. They feel dead, not in any way interesting, and despite the odd bits of diablo related news, nothing exciting ever happens.
We have lost good members.
We are minus any interesting threads.
We can no longer have those fun 77 page flame fests. Yes thats right. Fun.
We are OVERMODERATED - yes im looking at you Equinox...thanks for contributing to the downfall of these forums. I hate you.
We are getting less and less active members every day.
We are struggling to maintain SICK.
Basically, the forums aint what they used to be, and it doesnt look like that will change anytime soon. Its making me not want to post, these days im lucky if i post once a day. Its making me not even want to be here. Infact the only reason i stay is for the people.
The only reason i stay on is because i just came back and i'm trying to be as dedicated as possible but its getting tough.
It feels like were in the Great Depression all over again. We need some reforms to the way that these forums work. I kinda remember some flame wars and debates from before i left. They were fun but i never really participated in them as i was never on when most of the stuff went down. Times have changed i guess and not for the better, for the worse.
TEH, SIAYNOQ!!! We want you back!!! *sniffle T.T

Yes...the forum has gone down the drain. It's like the big demise of the roman empire, nobody seen it coming until it was too late. Ha well, there's nothing we can do, but only postpone the inevitable. Instead of waiting for Diablo 3 “Cut’s myself”, we need to do some recruiting and a major overall of the forum.
This place has dramatically changed over the last few months and I think we, has a community need to over go some changes has well. For example like you said Jarhead, the moderating is a little too attended to, so let’s have a thread were we discuss what we can do to change that in the best way which will benefit us and the forum for others who may want to join.
Little thing like this can help us move forward and build a better forum for all of us to enjoy.
That's why we need to do some recruiting.

I like the life I lived, because I went from negative to positive.
You know very well who you are, don't let them hold you down, reach for the stars.
As the one responsible for all the interesting flame wars, I must say, it is quite boring here. All my awesome posts get deleted by equinox because she think's she's helping, but like I said a long time ago when moderation was in question previously, there is no need for it.
Flame wars should commence, and the mods should like it.
Usually the flaming here is in a constructive way, or at least I think so. The only one I've ever seen just insult for the sake of insulting was doppel. There's such a limited range of topics to discuss. Most people here are committed members and have been here for a long time. The forum just needs new d3 information to refresh their interest with the site.

ERRRRRRR wrong.
Thanks for playing, better luck next time.
Im talking back in the day...like when muttonchops was one of said flamers...and fingolfin tore apart anybodies flames so beautifully...
Flaming is best done off topic over 54 pages in any random thread where 2 people disagree.
That's your opinion on how you define flaming. Both were constructive posters. I think of flaming as "You're a faggot" "You have no life" "You have no gf". You know, the empty insults that no one takes serious. Muttonchops always had a mocking tone about him, with the intent of pointing out someones incompetence. Which I found constructive. I should have elaborated more on what I meant, I didn't expect someone to come off so dense. I may have worded it wrong, but I'm in my own way agreeing with what you're saying Jarhead. Because of tighter restrictions on arguements/debates, this forum has lost some interest.
Then again, you're also the same guy that started whining because he couldn't openly call women bitches in the forum. I'm not sure many people would agree with your ideal forum.

Come to think of it i miss muttonchops. :/
All is not lost, we have a lot of new members that are sure to be great leaders one day. People come and go, but our future is in their hands. We must be good examples for them though, maybe not with super moderating, but with kind gestures that flaming isn't always the wisest thing to do, or that saying "yo dawg u is teh shit" - this isn't the place for it.
You must have hope; Carloseus has not left us yet, although has been more inactive than i remember him ever being. When Diablo3 is announced at WWI we will have 1,000,000 visitors go into their internet browser and type in "diablo3.com". Some will be useless noobs, others will be the carloseus, siaynoq, mutton, and teh of tommorrow. We cannot give up now, not after all this. I'm not letting blizzard get this site name for free! They have to pry it from our cold, dead hands.
lol, speaking of fire, this thread is starting to catch alight.
It was really interesting when the 'Should demons have genitals?' thread was going lol. But then everyone said what was there to say, and it died.
Lately, I've been spending more time on the Diablo wiki than I am here.
Also, the holidays are over, so everyone is back to work/school/uni (in Australia and NZ, atleast, and somehow that is actually a significant amount of people).
EDIT: Also, I'm new to the forums, so, I kind of feel out-of-place here, but, oh well.

Its almost like a new era is dawning here at this forum. I imagine it like a phoenix, it must burn to ashes before it rises up anew. The leaving of members and the boring-ness of this forum are the forum's slow burning. But soon, when something big happens, the forum will rise up again, full of life and energy.

People leave, nothing is static, get used to it. You can't prevent it, so you simply have to deal with it.

Which is also natural. It's hard to be extremely active for years in one forum like this, which has had nothing new to the table at anytime in its past really.

Which doesn't really mean anything bad I'd say. As I said earlier, it's hard to keep posting 15 times a day. If I'd done that, I would have close to 9,000 posts by now. It's just not feasible in a forum of this size, it transforms from a forum to a place where a few people hang out with each other.

These things all require member dedication. And you're a member. I can't say why no one else posts any political discussions or debates, but for myself, I simply haven't had the time to spend all that much time here, and I haven't felt as if it was as rewarding as before. And no, before you scream that I deep down like flame, that's not the reason.
