Come to think of it, why was this thread stickied? Just so there's atleast one thread available for people to see by default? That makes sense, sure. But, I think there are better, more important threads than this one. Especially since the first post in this thread is really confusingly written.
I think the game being based on the Story line would be prerty cool. As long as its a good long hard game idc as long as they make it. I finisehd the Sin War books and thought they were the most bad ass books on planet earth (Next to the Demonata series by Darren Shan) I almost cried at the end of the 3rd book mostly becouse it ended and 2 of them lost there memory. (I was better when i sat on the com and clicked on the d2 icon clicked battle.net and scroled down to my characters)

Hehe, yeah, that first post was pretty whack. But we still knew basically what he was getting at. I don't know who stickied this thread, but I've enjoyed a lot of the conversation we've had in it. And my money is still on the next Diablo game being a prequel.
I'm excited about the idea that the world stone is GONE!
Inarius made the world stone, then later altered it to supress the humans true potential into nothing. But it was altered but Uldissian thus makeing it give back some power to the humans and unlocking his gift to the fullest.
Even after Tyrial used it to trap the prime evils it was still doing its job. Supression.
The stones gone. Period. Nothing more. Humans can now acheive they're true ability.

I can NOT wait.
I never thought of that. The idea that the 'humans' may have their powers return will be awesome. Maybe the game won't simply be Heaven vs Hell but Heaven vs Hell vs Human.

Yeah remember also what Drag'Oul says in Scales of the Serpent:

i don't know where else to post this so posting here...
what if D3 took place in a more modern era... like in the suburbs of a city or something...
this would open the door to more types of weapons (like guns, explosives), but as the game progresses guns and modern weapons would become almost useless and more traditional (swords, bows, magic) would have to be used to fight...
i don't know... probably won't happen, but it's an idea

That's Hellgate: London.
But no, I would not favour it if thats what happens. The feel of it would completely change.
hmm i think all of the lords should be connected in some way leading you to each one as like a mystery yet sill have that rpg/fantasy feeling and if u beat it without expansion just face mephilis ball and diablo destroy there soulstones and when your in jail youll find out that theres still one more soul stone and you be kill by belial and the camber would go all phsycodelic and then melt but your still conciouse falling down and hit a deathly fall down into spikes or something like that
I doubt they'll empower humans very much, it really takes away from the ambiance of diablo, where it's a world under assault by the infinite hordes of hell and humanity is powerless to stop them save for you, the player.
i like the story line idea i got bored and thoguht up over the coruse of about 5 minutes a bit ago.
A bit of a twist on the tyreal being corrupted/prime evils returning.
Would it be possible that tyreal wasnt as much corrupted as turned evil of sorts? acting on the side of heaven during d2 but in reality fulfilling his own goals by using the heros and possibly even cain?
Did the soulstones release any sort of power when they were destroyed? if not it kind of destroys my entire storyline but, meh.
The real reason for getting the hero to destroy the soulstone was so he could "harness" the wpoer thatw as released when they were destroyed, and continued with the heros to get them to temporarily deal with baal(seeing as his soulstone was the only one not destroyed since there was no mention of it after you kill him) and use his corrupted the worldstone as his reason for destoying it, so he could weaken/destroy the barriers between heaven/hell and the mortal realm, so that he could use the pwoer he harnessed form the destroyed soulstones to corrupt diablo and mephisto(seeing as destroying them only banished them form the living realm through use of the soulstone, which was destroyed if i remember correctly on that, could be wrong) and use them, without leading on there even corrupted, to help corrupt baal also and use the 3 of them to help him take over heaven so he can rule over the 3 plains of existance, being heaven, hell, and the mortal plain witht he 3 brothers at his side under his control for eternity.
It sounded like it would make an awsome story idea, know it would prob never happen though but hey, i can hope,
gogo wall of text
ps i have also never actually read the books, but have been addicted to d2 for about the last 10 eyars so, this is basically based of off the story possibility that tyreal could eb corrupted and my knowledge of d2/lod's storyline only so.

And I'm sure many authors would love to see their writing come to life on the screen. I would too.

That would be a nice quote to use in a trailer.
