So a friend and I recently downloaded the powerISO program to run Diablo 1 (I don't know if this has anything to do with the issue or not, but thought I would mention the powerISO vs CD version). We then tried creating games over B.net to play in the same game, but we continously receive the message "Unable able to join game. The latency of the creator is too high." We both have fast connections and show no lag out in the chat channel, but our games show max lag. Anyone tried playing Diablo 1 again with a friend and run into this issue? Or know of a way to resolve this issue?

That is the issue.
You need to use the CD-ROM when playing on battle.net.
That program might work for single-player, but you risk being banned from battle.net if you attempt to use a third-party program to play the game online.
Well we're both able to play on B.net, it's just that it shows our latency maxed out only when we create a game. Also, the few people that I have run into online experience the same issue.
As for the fact about the CD-Rom vs running the program over B.net, the players I've come across use the CD-Rom and experience the same issue that I'm experiencing.
If you owned the game, you are allowed to have at most 1 copy (by the EULA). Many Gaming Centers just use Alcohol120% or whatever it's called, which is just an ISO-image client. You're having port issues. You'll need to configure your router and/or any firewalls you may have. You can learn how to do so here:
Please note that disabling your firewall will not cut it.
Usually I don't like to have the user disable the firewalls, it could cause there problems, and decreases security. Also, sometimes while disabled, firewalls will still block the traffic. This is why I recommend enabling and configuring any and all firewalls installed.
I appreciate all the information and the attempts to help, but so far nothing has resolved the issue. My friend and I are still receiving the same messages about joining games. We both have configured our routers and firewalls to allow the ports. Also, we both have completely turned off our firewalls with our same configurations and still experience the same issue. However, I was able to join a random players game, so I don't believe it is a B.Net issue. Any other sort of ideas as to why we're unable to join the same game?

I suggest bypassing the router by plugging the modem in directly to your computer. That will tell us if the source of the problem is your router or not.

You need to make sure you have these ports open: 6112-6119. Configure your router or firewall to do this. If you're using a router like linksys, enter 192.168.1.1 in the web address and you'll be prompted to a username and password. The default user and pass are both "admin". In the settings go to Applications and Gaming, enter the ports in the list, name the application as diablo or blizzard, fill in the Ip address that shows up on your computer in cmd, leave protocol on both, check enable, and save settings. Go to portforward.com If you need help doing these steps..I fixed my hosting/latency issue opening these ports..If these ports are not right, someone correct me.
Your could try using a port tester (on the person's computer creating the game, so if you create the game and he's the one joining, you should be the one with the ports forwarded) such as : http://www.canyouseeme.org/ (to use this type in any number between 6112-6119 in for the port number)
if that doesn't pass your port isn't forwarded properly. For help of forwarding go here: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
and choose your router make and model, then choose the game (Diablo) and it should have router specific instructions. Has nothing to do with using virtual drives, Thats what I use on my computer.

oops, didn't see there was a second page, if any of my info is a duplicate, I am sorry.
I havent used Diablo in yeaaars. I just recently was given an old disc and I miss going into the town square chat on b.net. But when I go to make it multi-player, it gives me a bunch of options as to how to connect and says none of mine are valid, but y internet is great. What do I do?!!?1?!!?!?1
Look on google on how to add a IPX protocol to your network connection. Then start a game and choose lan. That is, if your playing a lan game. if your going on Bnet, it should work from the beginning
Setup IPX Protocol, or I would use daemon tools to mount the iso, make the iso use image burn. google it! last but not least check your internet connection, and open ports 6112, 4000 both tcp good luck!
