I'm mostly a softcore player, but Wizard will most likely be my first HC character. Looking forward to that. It's been a long time since I've felt the thrill of HC.
Probably will go demon hunter for hc and monk of sc. DH looks like fun and a challenge so hc would be my primary choice. D2 i played assassin and had to be my fav class so DH is as close as it gets to that
I haven't had a chance to try the game out just yet, but I imagine I'll make a monk to start things off in HC. They look like the most fun by watching the videos, and judging by their skills it seems like I won't have too hard of a time surviving.
If not monk, then demon hunter. My favorite class in Diablo II was Amazon, and rogue in Diablo I. I really like the ranged-type classes, but for some reason monk seems more appealing.
Wizard should be good enough for that,
Not sure yet need to get my hands on beta or just wait for regular launch of diablo.
If not wizard my demon hunter will do it
I dont know if anyone remembers the game Dark stone, but it was a very diablo-esque game that looked pretty good for its time. Anyway, Monk and Priest was the way to go in that game. I stand by that today
Also, Hellfire (the Diablo 1 expansion that I for some reason never beat the boss in the Hole), had the monk. I thought he was pretty sick. I just don't want to be the typical every-day barb, since there will be a million of them.
Another thing to think about is the fact that in HC, some classes will be way more popular b/c of survivability. That means that auction house prices will be jacked for certain classes as a result of the higher demand.
I am voting for Barbarian, just checked tal.calculator, he has few very handy features out there, I know the games is made that way, so that everyone can solo the whole thing, but with those barb. talents I think it would be alot easier, the extra proc for a health globe, and dmg red spell is awesome! i think i will be stacking life steal on him
It's very hard to say yet, since I have not tried D3.
When I finally get it im going to try out all classes and then focus on the one that felt right for me.
But judging from the class movies im going to start playing as a Barbarian!
But like I said I dont know yet..And I cant wait to get started!
You have to play through the game once on softcore right? I'll probably play something different for hardcore than the softcore. But currently all I want to play is the witch doctor.
Voting for Witch Doctor personally. Have always played a pet-oriented class (WD is sorta it in D3) throughout the years from Necro in EQ to Warlock in WoW and then will continue the tradition of dark-oriented classes. Next choice would be a Demon Hunter, just because.
I'm still undecided, i plan on playing barb through my normal playthrough, i will pick my first HC depending on how difficult the game seems to be after my first normal playthrough.
At the moment I'm leaning toward Witch Doctor with focus on pets, probably the safest class to level to accumulate some starter gear for the next character i make after i die the first time.
Monk seems to have quite a good defensive arsenal but since there is so little info beyond a small part of act 1 its very hard to say how the classes will pan out through normal difficulty and beyond.

Coining this one early. You heard it here frist.
IMO the safest class to play for Hardcore will probably be Demon Hunter. Vault just looks insane for getting out of trouble.
good survivability + good DPS and thats pretty much it.

Just something to think about.

Barbarian is durable in the starting levels which will help to get to know the game etc.
It is more risky ofc when you have to get close to monsters.
