One of my favorite things about Diablo was the ability to assign your characters stat points however you deemed fit. Does your character need more health? More dexterity? Easy, just assign more points when you leveled up.
If you were serious about the game, as most people were, especially now, you knew exactly what gear your character would use for its final gear. From there you would calculate exactly how much strength or dexterity your character would need and build accordinly. Any extra points would go towards more health in hardcore or more damage in softcore (usually).
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but how do you hardcore players think that having each character gain set stats per level (ala WoW) affect your gameplay experience.
I think that it's going to be a little more difficult to play D3 on hardcore then D2 (which is fine). But now your item hunt is going to have to include and maybe prioritize health items over damage dealing items.
Let me know what you guys think. It will probably be a moot point, but I think it should be discussed.
I guess items with +vitality will be quite worth while in Diablo 3 hardcore.
Like Scanders said, stats were kind of predetermined in Diablo 2 as well, since there was no need to put points in anything but dex to max block, str for desired armor and no energy.
People complain about every customization removed (stats, skill trees etc..) but in my opinion there is much more variation/customization in Diablo 3 then Diablo 2 had if you count the available skill slots and rune combinations.
I think one might just need to play a little more defensively.
I may use a shield on my Demon Hunter instead of something that adds damage. Same with Witch Doctor. I will probably try using items that have + experience and re-run a few areas to outlevel the content a little.
