Damnit, that sucks, I really liked setting your own prices and screwing the uninformed people over.
Euhh ! I disagree, what you mean by uninformed ??? quit the game go on internet and check ??? ark what a waste of time, put that directly in the game.... (bad design) like d2 when you need to get info on internet instead of in-game.
And Luc the d2 system did work with the better the item was the more it cost.
False, check unique price, check resist is not a really good stat when you're low level but the price is high... When you have a stat the price is grow, but when you have +10% damage on weapon who do ~10 damage, it's do nothing.... but the price grow anyway...
Here is a gold sink for all of you. Items have smaller durability, when they get damaged, they degrade in performance (armor have smaller defense, weapons smaller damage, etc.) Repair cost already goes high with item quality, so they will need to take care about their gear (which is something adventurers do) and spend money on regular basis and not just stash it.
No durability sorry, and it's a bad idea for many reason sorry !

I don't ever remember minimizing and going to the internet to find how much an item was worth...lol. Probably because what you're talking about didn't exist. All you have to do to know how much an item is, is ask someone, someone who you are NOT trading with. Sounds like you are one of those uniformed people.

I don't understand your reasons to want ask to people before trade.... What! you want check the item price and after go in the trade room... waste of time, why not put the common price directly in the trade ?
I see 4 manners how trade can work.
1. Put the price you want and nothing confirm the real price of the item.(your idea)
2. You see the common price and you decide if you want put it more or less expensive. Everyone will see the common price too. (but if it's rare, people will doesn't care to buy it more expensive than it is).
3. You put the item in the trade and the common price is automatically set, more people want your item more the price grow, like an auction.
4. You put the item in the trade and the common price is automatically set, the first one who want it, is the one who get it.
I prefer the 2,3 and 4.
A mix of 2,3,4 is possible.
I think it will work like an online auction house. I think it will show what the item is worth at a store and depending on the item it will show what the avg amount the item went for.
They may show on the side the range on the mods to make it easier to decide if item is worth more due to perfect #. Or if it is worth less if the #'s are low.

So you think it will be like a general MMO AH that will guide your price to be whatever the average for "x" item to be?
I don't think anything should have a "set" price on it.
Ok !! but everything is sellable at the vendor so it's mean everything have a "set" price on it !
Okay but this has nothing to do with vendors. Vendors in no way set a price of trade unless every item had it's sell value increased by % and that's what they did on the WoW auction house. But everyone made their own values depending on what was needed at that certain time...bam everyone wants a shaco, okay shaco's price has just gone up. I'm saying a game can't predict something like that and to have prices on items be set just doesn't make sense. I think I'm missing something or seeing it differently.
No, I understand but to start the calcul of % increased price (depending of how many people want it/trade it in same time) you need a base price setted !
Trade can be auction but I think about something else.
You put your weapon in the trade room, like on a tablet and the first who buy it, get it (without price modifier).
I mean that it shows to to the buyer and the seller what it would go for if sold to a vendor. If possible (Legendary, Sets, Runes) what they were traded for on average. Information is important to get a fair trade. I see gold as the commodity of choice. It may also allow a trade of other items for that item if the players agree.
Say I need a Set piece and the other person has it but needs the legendary item we maybe able to come to some sort of agreement based on the known value of the items.

I agree
I think the only reason why dirty wouldn't see the vendor price it's because he like to scammed or do unfair trade in his favor.

Ummm..obviously? That was the whole point, you trade and if the person you're trading with doesn't have knowledge of what they have than you use it to your advantage.
To me it's something similar of having aim-assistance in a FPS game.
Regardless of what the currency in D3 will be, unless JSP has it's stranglehold on the economy released, a lot of the trading done in D3 will be based on FG.
This of course could start up an entire different argument of "JSP is good!" and "JSP is corrupted!" but, its there, how people take it is up to the individual.
Same goes for all those sites the bots advertise. No good there. How Blizzard will keep the EULA intact is a wait-and-see thing, I guess.
JSP is a site that uses forum gold, which is against the EULA (End-User License Agreement).
I would go more into it, but it's vast. Search around and you'll find out more.
To me it's bad manners to make a fortune of people who don't know any better, aka scamming. If they could implements some sort of in-game way of checking prices, that would be great.
It will be always tricky and always have two side of opinion. Like PK when player don't want duel.
But for me when you have this kind questioning, you should choose the way where people haven't a negative point.
So regardless if people like PK, it's annoying for a major part of people so the answer is NO PK.
So regardless if people like scamming, it's annoying for a major part of people so the answer is No unfair trade.

It's how you must design, easy to understand !
Aim-assistance isn't a cheat...you're thinking of an aimbot. You're right though, but I've always hated the fact that games have to guide people because they're too slow to learn the way it's played. The only way you get scammed is if it's your fault, next time make sure you don't fuck up and you won't get scammed, it's a pretty easy to follow...

Even if people know the value, the people who want scammed will just denied the trade if he doesn't make profit and will try to find someone who is scammable. If we start to doesn't accept a trade because we want make profit nobody will trade...
Start to bargin and argue the power of items will be annoying, people will be stubborn and will hold them position to try to succeed his scamming.
I don't want waste hours to arguing only for a fair trade !
Anyway I think the trade system will show every items tradable, SO peoples will just buy the less expensive, and who trying to scamming will never sell anything.
