If you ask me there should be a small beta test. Many (id say bout 1/2) of the diablo players are within school ages. It would be cool for Blizzard to come out with a small beta where we get a small taste of the classes (all of them or even only 1 or 2) and run them through a dungeon made espectially for the beta. It would also be cool if this beta were released during this summer break while many of us youngins who are in school can try it out. They could even make it cost a price to play the beta, im sure many of us would pay? Good idea ?
Official Edit As of July 1, 2008 :
The beta should consist of:
2-3 Classes
A dungeon specificaly made for the beta
None of the games story line revealed during the beta to keep players wanting more
No gear drops, and maybe only 5 levels of character available, just to simply get ideas and suggestions on how the levling works
and a small elaborate sample of any skills they think might need to be changed
sound good?
anything i should add, change, or remove ??
Another Edit:
THATS WHAT I MEANT!!! What i said above was simply to protect players of seeing to much of the game, while still being able to find bugs that are in the interface, skills, and enviroment design. THINK ABOUT IT!! If they realesed a beta that was everything the had so far, to much of the game would be let loose and would give away way to much to some people via internet leaks and such. OF course a beta is to test out the game and find bugs and flaws, but at the same time you have to protect the storyline and some of the games hidden content.

Hmm, why argue when you can contribute. Im pretty dang smart for a 13 year old and proud of it. Anyone wanna talk to me about any ideas they have or one of my few threads, just send me a private meassage. -Chance
good point i just want there to be one i could give a shit less about school
homework takes like 30 minjs at most when your working to get soemthing, and ifit was a D3 beta i was working to get to, fuckin 100% done in record time
i really just wish there was a beta
it dosnt have to be big
even a small taste, (such as what we saw in the gameplay video) would be more then enough for me

Let's be honest. You want a beta just to play it.
Beta-testing is another story...
This is half true and half untrue.
I mean of course i wanna play it! Who dosen't!? I've watched the gameplay video like over 50 times. I feel so nerdy ATM
But i also think it would be smart on blizzards part to let us play it to actually be able to give them some REAL ideas and suggestions so were not basing what were asking them to do just by watching. We need to have some solid ground to justify our suggestions and make this game (prolly) 2x better.

It would be cool to test it yeah but theres always the thing that u will get spoiled in advance.. Its more fun to start at the release. Besides you won't have to help others so much about things when you haven't already played it
Giving them money for betatesting? what world do you live in?
you mis-read
i meant to say "I" WOULD pay money to get into the beta
just to show everyone how badly i want this to happen
i kno US paying THEM for US to test THEIR game is just plain dumb

true but i did say "in a dungeon specificaly made for the beta"
so it wouldnt spoil anything but some of the games features and traits
the story would still stay completly out of our reach and its a BETA so nothing in it would be set in stone

A closed beta, forwarded to Battle.net subscribees. Open beta's tend to satisfy too many people their lust for a comming game, preventing them from buying and trying the game when it's actually out. Even a game sold to someone who tries it a day and does not like it is a sold game and 50 (of your currency) in their pocket. This is often the reason that demo's are nowadays released after a game's release also.
is there already a closed beta ??
cause if there is a wanna take part cause i feel i could contribute alot, no matter what im buying this game for the story
and i think even a closed beta would be nice, as long as the right people got invited for good reasons, including myself =D

I doubt it I would say there hardcore fan base would be mostly 20+ The people who played the originals when they came out not 5 years later. If there is a beta it should be closed and I doubt people under 18 would be able to participate because you would have to sign an NDA.

lame
it should be based purly on how much you could contribute
if you wanna kno im 13 years of age and i feel i have more ideas then most people of any age
you wouldnt have guessed i was 13 from the way i type now would u
i think i would easily be welcomed into the beta (if there was one) if age was no issue

More than age, I guess technical awareness is a good criteria for beta-members.
i feel i kno more then enough to make some small and big contributions
i have an idea of how blizzard can do this beta (and its a pretty darn good idea in my eyes)
Make everyone who wants to participate fill out an application, and only accept a certain amount of people
they should base there choices of who they select on by what they said on these applications
questions should be asked as,
"why do you think you should be given a beta key?"
"what do you think you could contribute?"
"and give us a small taste of some of the ideas you already have?"
things of that sort and just pick some of the better contenders

I'd say it's an M rated game and you shouldn't even be playing it but I was 10 when I played D2 so
And yes I think most people would have easily come to the conclusion that you were 12-15 from the way that you type.
Why would they let 13 year olds into the beta when they aren't legally allowed to be playing the game anyway?
haha thats not true
you are legally allowed to play the game,
ESRB ratings are simply there to let you kno of the games content
there is no law saying the games CAN NOT be plaed by minors (that i kno of)
as far as im concerned if minors got a parental permission to participate in a beta or to play a game, there is no problem present

Blizzard already have a procedure for Beta testing their games, which appears to serve them very well. Why would they change it?
Also, they won't deliberately choose D1 and D2 players. They will just make a random selection of people, thus getting a wide as possible audience, with varying hardware configurations and experience with the Diablo franchise (They need to test the game on Diablo Newbs too).
i didnt say it had to be preivious diablo players
i never said anything like that
i simply just said applications would be a good way to make their selection of the lucky few

I think they should not offer a beta, but instead a very small demo that would give you a nice idea of the game. like a small field of monsters and a dungeon with 3 characters...just give players a general idea of the game and then go to blizzard with praises or suggestions. FAN FEEDBACK ROCKS!!! lol all companies should remember that ;).
