It seens the Archon ability totally overrites your build and gives you other abilities. Based on the official video - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/class/wizard/active/archon - I think we can deduce whats the Archons ability.
In this video we can see him using 3 abilties:
* A desintegrate-like beam.
* A small nova of arcane damage (looks rather spammable)
* A melee range AoE (he blasts a Arcane Orb in the ground, provoking a explosion). Think this one is the Archon's signature O.O
* One rune gives him teleportation ability
* Another rune gives him Slow Time
Maybe i'm totally crazy... It's seens the Archon is bit designed for melee combat (2 close range spells)... He gets some Armor buffs though. I wonder if you keep buffs like Frozen Armor and Magic Weapon after shapeshfting into archon.
the skills which you saw are probably the skills hotkeyed and just "archon-powered". the "disintegrate-like beam" is most likely disintegrate with the entropy rune with a little power up from archon. as for the arcane orbs its probably runed versions of arcane orb powerd up a little by archon. thats just my two-cents cant know anything for sure till may 15.
I think it gives you new skills essentially or else they wouldn't have Slow Time and Teleport as runes. So all Archons will cast the same spells. And yeah, it definitely seems like a defensive ability of sorts that you use to take less damage. The big question is just how many of your passives / skills are included in Archon form... who knows.
nice, i had never thought to look for that before. This ability is why i want a wizard first, it looks like it will be something that will be very powerful in group and solo play not to mention the cool factor of it. Not sure if the 1000% weapon damage on those abilities will make to live but WOW talk about a powerful CD. Looking forward to playing with it in a few weeks
I don't know if this information is readily available, but I was just wondering: is your mana pool the same when you are in archon form? Like can you cast those archon spells indiscriminately or is there a cooldown/mana cost that limits their usage.

I would guess that there would be a small CD on the abilities. like a 3 second CD on the archon orb, and the disintegrate would last for x seconds. Also this would force you to switch it up a bit, not just finding the "best" archon ability and spamming it to maximize the kills/ bonus duration per kill. But its just speculation, they might have AP costs attached to them. They might even have an Archon signature spell.
Edit: looking at the skills on Diablowiki. They might have it like this.
Signature: Arcane Blast 100% weapon damage to all nearby enemies.
Then have AP costs for Arcane Strike and Disintegration Wave.
Sweet! Thanks for the link about the Archon skills. This would be a perfect addition to my close range wizard build. I didn't know the Archon had such awesome close range skills.
