With us able to reroll stats on items I was wondering ‘what stats were more important than others?’ And at what point (soft cap) should we not invest in those stats anymore and go for other ones as they have become less of priority.
These are not the order. I’m just making a list.
Dex
Attack Speed (AS)
Crit
Crit Damage
+ to ability elemental type (Fire, physical, etc…) (Ele for short)
This is pretty close for DPS, completely off for survivability, but that's probably because it's old.
Weapon damage > Dex > ~50% crit chance > 50% CHD per 10% crit > Attack Speed. Fire and Physical % + modifiers are of equal importance as CHD, but worry about those more when you have decent gear and need more power %.
Survivability = Resist All > Vit > Armor, I'm not throwing DEX in there because you're retarded if you're using straight VIT gear for a DH.

So tell me if I'm reading that right. You focus on crit until you hit 50%. At that point move your focus to CHD (or Ele when geared) wherever you can. And if CHD isn't an option go for AS. About right?
You want to stack some CHD while stacking crit, roughly 50% CHD for every 10% crit. Makes no sense to be critting if it's not for big numbers right?
AS is nice, but certain skills (grenades, cluster arrow, multishot, etc) just don't scale with attack speed as they do with other damage stats. If you can't get dex, average damage, crit, crit hit damage, or elemental %, go for AS
It's a fun class, we focus mainly on stacking damage, and doing it the right way leads to some prettyyyyy insane output. Only downside is our single target is forever "meh" at best. Good thing the game is about aoe.
I'll take a look. I've played all the classes to 60 and only the WD, DH, & CS to 70. And while I love my WD. I like the DH more. I'm going for a bola/cluster build. So now I'm trying to stack fire dmg and hopingEmimei’s Duffeldrops soon. And aCalamitywould be ideal as well.
Bolas turn incredibly viable (though unfortunately, only some) with that quiver. Before that, I don't find them too reliable as their aoe is smallish, and damage with a delayed time really screws me over on Goblins. Calamity actually would not be ideal, you want to find yourself a big fat 2h (preferably xbow) since those have been our preferred weapons since beta. It's all relatively balanced now, but you still can't beat a nice xbow in dps.
Quivers are just too strong right now, which forces you into the 2hs, and the 50% crit hit damage from our Archery talent is our strongest non-conditional dps choice we're offered
Your abilities scale with weapon damage and speed, so a 2h xbow will make your Clusters HUGE, while 1h's while make them come out quick.
Dual wield is ONLY (imo) justifiable by the following conditions-
Both weapons are 2400+ dps
Both have sockets
Both need their usual DEX rolls (500ish)
And that can probably equal the 10% crit, 20% aspd 700 DEX % cluster arrow affixed quiver I'm using. Simply because 2h's are so easy to find, and a strong quiver is also not that rare. Dual wield, you'll notice, will drop your dps when you equip the second xbow if it's not strong enough (think every class has a dual wield penalty). If you think it's hard to find one great weapon, try two...quiver can't vary as much in stats, therefore they're the go-to for most of us.
Even then a quiver is probably better than an offhand with a 1h, I think you want the higher dps oneif you do dualwield in your offhand?
Rough estimate of stat weights depending on gear inputs. Weapon "Type" recognizes a value of either "HC", "Crossbow", or "Bow" and will automatically take into account the bonus from Archery and the invisible 15% attack speed bonus from dual wielding hand crossbows. This does not take into account elemental damage yet but should provide an accurate comparison of other stats. Let me know if you see any issues.

I don't suppose there's a way for us to upload and/or link our Demon Hunter to this?

Not at the moment. Not quite sure how to do that with a Google doc.

What about vit
DPS: Weapon Damage > Dexterity > Crit Chance >= Crit Damage > Attack Speed
Survivability:Resists = Armor > Dexterity = Vitality

But yea, I have noticed that quivers are seriously strong. Strong enough were I never want to dual-wield.

1. 50% CHD for every 10% of Crit (At 50% crit you should have roughly 400 or 500% CHD)
2. Stack elemental (whatever element your abilities are) or skill damage (whatever skills you're using)
3. Attack speed.
