posted a message on What should I spend Blood Shards on? (Firebird)
I would say toss your shards on any Firebird set piece(s) you don't have, since they cost less than weapons. Only after you're totally done with that would I say start spending 75 a pop for weapons.

Once you get your gear itemized properly, you will be doing a lot more damage with Blizzard (Apocalypse) and Hydra (Mammoth)... Usualy, in T6, I cast 1 blizzard on top of a pack of white mobs and they die before they reach the border of my screen :P

Elite packs, 1 Blizzard + 1 Black Hole (Blazar) and they're done for.... add Teleport (Whormhole) + Illusionist passive and it makes your bounties go really fast! ;)
Yep, this is pretty much exactly how it's done. I drop a blizzard slightly behind white packs, tele past/over them, and just keep moving. I generally don't stop to kill any big mobs that don't die from 1 blizz, unless they're faster than me. Elite packs, I do the same, though it's usually blizz slightly behind->hydra slightly behind->tele over->BH-> keep moving, as anything not dead is certainly going to burn to death.

@heaven: Running magefist/cindercoat is alright, but having a RoRG means not having an SoJ and Unity. Once you get one of these, you'll want to put another FB piece on. Generally magefist > cindercoat. The +fire on magefists don't take up a primary spot, whereas the +fire on cindercoat does. Given, your cindercoat is way better than your magefists.
Yea, I've been trying to gamble for Firebird Chest as of late. Since I want to eventually get rid of the offhand for Furnace, but since I received that Cindercoat I should switch to gambling for a Firebird's gloves.

Got ya. Thanks. Yea, I'm working on that now. Started a new thread on it, because it was kind of off-topic to this.

You don't want to use a channeling spell post Grift 30-ish... Movement is the key to success and that's why most (if not all) of high-end wizards use Blizzard Apocalypse + Hydra builds, both of which makes Taeguk completely obsolete.

Zei + Toxin + Trapped/Powerful is the way to go if you want to push higher.
Understood, but for my usual T6 rifts and lower Grifts I don't need to move as much. I can stay somewhat stationary as dish out more DPS to move things along faster. But I agree when I eventually hit the 30+ Grifts more regularly; I'll need to use the preferred Firebird spec.

You also need to stop using Taeguk and use Toxin and Bane of the Trapped/Powerful. While soloing, I tend to use Powerful while soloing, but when grouping it's Bane of the Trapped that I use!

The DoT from Toxin is a nice addition and ticks with your Firebird, post rank 25, it's also a 10% dmg increase from every source + everyone in your group. It's a must have.
Even if I don't solo? I normally run full party T6 Rifts and full party G Rifts 30-35max). Also, I thought Taeguk would be a good pick since I use a channeling spell primarily. Would Toxin still out preform this?

posted a message on Tips on a Firebird 6p group play spec
Hey everyone, I finally got the 6p Firebird bonus. I was wondering what spells are good for group play? The Blizzard/Apocalypse & Hydra build(s) I find are more suited for soloing, since you're just tagging the mobs with it to get the dot going. Right now I'm running with Disintegrate/Black Hole. It seems to be working well in groups. It's burning down the mobs fast, but I'm almost certain there is something I'm overlooking (a spell, a rune, a passive, etc...) that I could improve upon.

Now, I'm thinking I need to get a Furnace and the another piece of Firebird's to replace the source that will be lost. Any suggestions?

I mostly run full party T6 rifts and full party 30 (35max) Greater Rifts.

I don't understand... 10% (or whatever) is still 10%, no matter how large the number gets.
So, just so I'm certain; the fire dot ticks for 3k%. Any fire or flat damage % on top of that will just be added to that 3k%, correct?

If so, that brings me back to my original question (sorta). My total for +% Fire damage is 95% (passives and items). Next to the 3k% that the 6p Firebird gives - they seem like drops in the bucket, no? I wouldn't think that I would really see much difference in the FB tick of 3000% to 3095%. Now I may be looking at this wrong, if so, please correct me.
Nope, it's 3k% multiplied by passives(and what not), multiplied by your 95% fire damage, multiplied by elite damage if any.
So if your 3k% weapon damage, for example, is just pure 3k damage, you multiply 3k by 1.95, getting almost 6k damage, not 3095.
    If you have glass cannon, it will be: 3k(damage) * 1.15(glass cannon) * 1.95(+fire ele%) = 6727.5
    Hope you got the idea.
Oh, sh*t. Yea... I feel rather silly. I was stacking the percentages rather than using one as a base and the other as a multiplier. Thanks!

    Here's my wizard I'm using. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/HeavenDenies-1161/hero/53829008

I'm trying to get the FB hat, as I don't want to give up my Cinder (though it could be better) or Magefists.

Side question: What's the code to link items?

Any passive that adds to your base damage. Like "Glass Cannon", "Conflagration", Elemental Exposure", etc...
They also add to your firebird 6set damage. Damage (of any and all kinds) are based on your damage, so anything that increases your damage increases your damage.

The damage passives and the firebird 6 set are not mutually exclussive - You are allowed to pick the x% damage passives in order to deal x% more damage with your firebird 6 set dot.

    Quote from tiddlesOZ
It depends if you just want to run T6 rifts all day then damage passives are great for clear speed but in high level GR's you'll want anything that helps you not get one shot. Although once past GR40 or so you may want to switch back to damage since just about everything will one-shot you no matter what.
Ah ok, thanks for the info. I'm still a bit foggy as to how the 6p FB works. I incorrectly assumed that the damage based passives would be completely overshadowed by the 6p dot, and I would be better off getting survival passives.

Hey, I'm close to get the 6p bonus for Firebird. My question is, should I get primarily defensive passives when I get the 6p set bonus? I'm not sure how much damage the 6p does compared to the damage based passives.

I am enjoying fresh start in season for once. But I doubt I will participate in next one, unless they add something very special (looking at you, runewords..).
Same here. After this season I'll be playing non-ladder. Unless they can offer something very special like runewords or something of the like.

As per weapon shots, if the weapon has cold damage normal shots will apply the chill effect, but firing a skill will overwrite the damage type thus won't apply the chill effect.
Ah ok, thank you. I have the Etrayu bow (sorry, don't know how to link). And I thought that any of my shots would apply a chilled effect, but that wasn't correct - as you stated. However, I'm not sure even if my the other cold skills will either. Like The Hungering Arrow with the cold rune. The mobs don't seem to be slowed or chilled when I shoot them with that. I've switch to Entangling Shot with the cold rune, since in the tooltip it states that it will 'slow' mobs.
Not sure what kind of build you're using, but Elemental Arrow is great to apply cold/chill across wide area with Frost Arrow rune.
    If I get a Krindershot - I'll use that. He's my character http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/HeavenDenies-1161/hero/15184990 It's the paragon level 70 seasonal/ladder DH.
Okay. I don't know how attached you are to Tactical Advantage/smoke screen, but you could use Awareness instead and switch smoke screen out with Elemental Arrow and use it as an opener/intermediately. Just an option to look at to get a guaranteed chill/slow.
Oh no, that's my none ladder DH. He hasn't been touched for some time. This is the one I'm playing now: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/HeavenDenies-1161/hero/51767619
