So, im a fan of dw on every class possible. Hate feeling slow and clunky so im ok with having a slight dps nerf for the mobility. Overall, i feel the dps should be lower but not night and day.
Anyways, i was trying out my dh today, dropped a couple mill into her, and took her for a whirl jsut to test mechanics and stuff. From what i found is that ALMOST EVERY MECHANIC the dh has encourages "front loaded" damage and slow high damage weps.
1. hatred regen so you have full fury every fight encourages bursting things down
2. shitty hatred regen skills (HA is good for single target but the regen of all the skills is absolute trash. even with dw 2aps, it takes about 2.5 years to get back tofull hatred
2.5. grenade + explosive passive+tinkering gives 8 hatred regen which is just enough imo for a dw build but even bliz said, grenades suck.
3. no skill is spammable unless u have chacram -5 on ur chest.... even then.... its rough and chacram sucks
4. blizzards "signature" dh skill revolves 100% around a 2h xbow (rain of vengance)
there are more than just this, but i just cant find a way to make dw work other than being over geared to the T.
this is most definetly a rant post but id like other pples opinions on dw dh's othe than "hey my gears godly with 200k dps unbuffed and can 1shot everything. Because if you can do that, a 2h xbow will do the exact same.
There has been plenty of debate on whether it's best to go 2h or dw, and it's pretty much down to personal choice.
I went dw since day one, and cleared inferno pre 1.03 without nat legacy 4pc and of course without my current dps. While I do agree some abilities are made for slow 2h weapon, I went dw for several reasons.
1). The superior hatred regen means you are able to use your skills sooner, it makes me feel there's less down time or time spamming hungering arrow etc.
2). The quicker shot animation also means I can effectively move a lot quicker and kite easier.
3). Some DH likes loh and dw is the best choice with its superior speed
4). DW is just so cool
5). 1h xbow has a lot of potential, if you have the perfect roll you could have 10disc, 200+dex, socket and crit damage and maybe even hatred regen.
Those are just a few points to note, and no matter which weapon choice you took, once you got pass certain dps it's the same anyway. The only slight annoying thing I have with dw is sometimes you hit like wet towel due to the lower base damage of the weapon. Other than that, I believe it offers a smoother game play over other 2h xbow. Imho dw is designed for a bit more kiting with its better mobility.
2h weps for a monk have their place and are actually be encouraged my bliz atm (at least with the latest patch). Ive debated about running this with my friends archon wiz who has a ton of dps
also, 2h weps are good for wiz with the aracne orb or archon (6% lifesteal is kinda huge in archon)
the thing is, those 2 classes DONT have mechanics working agasint 2h weps or DW weps, (wiz cant dw)
There is one defining reason to use a 1H XBow, that is to say its Archery bonus. Any build which depends heavily on Discipline, for example, absolutely loves getting its constant crit as high as possible for the regen passive.
Also do note that the other classes listed as DW dependent are not QUITE so, since 1.0.4. I am using a 2H Barbarian build and am helping with the theorycraft on a Monk build based around a 2H (though notably it prefers agility polearms to a Daibo)
Yeah I wonder if they'll ever buff DW xbows, honestly the difficulty of getting two perfectly rolled 1h's is enough of a down side as it is. Whenever you see concept art of a DH it's with the two sexy crossbow pistols...
DW is still viable, not for burst tho, i've seen tank DH guides using 1h xbows, for example check nugiyen's tanky dh guide on youtube, (cant post links to youtube atm, at work). You need alot more gear than few millions tho as you kinda need burst to kill packs fast without dying alot and thats better to do with 2h xbow
Actually, with just one 1h xbow and a quiver, you will be faster, as dw is only 15% and a dead man's can go up to 20%.
You probably won't. The base attackspeed of 1-handed x-bows is infinitely superior to 2-handed x-bows, and even with Bows (which usually deal less dmg than x-bows), I think DW 1-handed xbows is still faster.
High stats, a socket, disc and hatred regen are also possible on a quiver, with the added possibility of crit. That leaves only loh, crit damage and of course the optical preference, I agree that dw looks cooler.
The crit is the deal breaker imo right there.
The bonus for Archery to 1-handed Xbows is 10% crit chance, which you can get close to on a quiver. Meanwhile, the 50% bonus crit dmg from 2-handed Xbows is a very expensive stat (either base or with a socket).
Also, my DH runs with 2 +discipline 1-handed xbows (and maybe a chest if you're lucky), and I gotta say, with Night Stalker (iirc the passive name) I almost never run out of discipline (which is awesome!). I'm almost dropping Preparation, as I almost never use it.

And regarding your comment about spamable skills, you could give the Infinite Multishot Build a go, http://www.diablofans.com/topic/69821-infinite-multishot-build/ I use that with dw.
Best of luck farming~
