Messed around with rolands on the PTR, it felt like I was seriously lacking in survivability despite keeping iron skin up with pretty good uptime, even on lower GR's (35ish). I've got really solid rolands gear too, 3/6 ancients, an ancient piro, etc. The damage felt like it was there and fantastic, but I was just having trouble staying alive.
Anyone else have experiences like this or advice on it?
yes i can confirm its WAY better than barbarians now!!!
tested last night (first day on 2.2)
with 6pc of rolands
golden flense + hellscull (waiting for the denial)
focus+restraint
and the result is that everything melts IN ONE HIT ONLY!
gems used : bane of the trapped+pain enhancer+toxin
with no perfect gear (all items of Roland are NOT ancients)
i managed to do some t6 very fast rifts...
i will test more during weekend...hope to find some better gear and ancient stuff!!!!!!!
Everything melts with one hit on t6, even those play your way shitty builds can do t6. The thing is if a set/build is viable above GR50. Glad that you enjoy it but you cant really compare it and say that X is better than Y from clearing the new normal mode that t6 has become.
For now Crusader is a bit behind on the GR leaderboards but not by far. Patch is still fresh so we prolly have to w8 till next week to be able to see how things are performing ( talking for non-season here cause for s3 is going to be really early to judge ) .
Fire bash and subsequent explosions crit in the Billions, not millions. Shield cross lost to crumble a long time ago in terms of straight up clear speed, on the condition you can position for it.
Using Shield cross (four directions bash) is counter productive with the bracers providing the damage bonus to three or less enemies hit.
The bracers are there so that you can pick fire bash shield rune for the aoe dmg and still have very good single target on rift gaurdians I believe
Not to sure with fire Shield Bash, the added effect from the fire rune only applies to monsters after they have been killed and it only fires in a straight cone if i am right.
The physical rune Shield Cross would most likely perform better in terms of AoE, the extra shields beside and behind you crit for about 100-200m if i remember well.
But pretty much the higher you go the more HP the monsters will have making it even harder to kill white trash in time before you start falling behind in the timer.
I love shield cross I really do, but it's far inferior in actual practice. Check out the video on manner cookies rolands build linked on main page to see high level play that displays the power of crumble rune.

Cool, I think I'll probably end up playing a seasonal Sader again, because I can never get interested in the other classes :p.
Anyone think a Holy Damage Shieldsader could work in 2.2?

That's probably it then, I was running 3x offensive. Do most of the higher GR saders require defensive gems?
gogouk of swiftness (atk speed/cooldwon)
Esoteric alteration (non-physical dmg reduction/75% increased resists when below 50% hp)
molten wildebeest's gizzard (lps/abosrb sheild for 200% of lps after no dmg for 4 sec)
these seem to be the running leaders for the rolands build now i think
