Barbarian: Whirwind and Rend - Triple Rend damage and duration, Whirlwind deals triple damage to targets affected by Rend.
Do you guys think the Lamentation belt for barbs make this do 6 times the damage when whirlwinding targets effected by rend?
To me, Rend feels clunky to use and it DOES make you stop casting whirlwind, might this be an issue?

Might this be a good time to buff the Shard of Hate to it's original bugged state? The item was cool to use when you could just see a massive amount of lightning procs flying around! Thank fuck they changed that. there are also certain attacks that allow you to begin the rend animation early almost before the end of the first attack. its a really cool feeling to be able to trigger attacks in such a subtle way to increase effectiveness.
if you trigger Hammer of the Ancients and like have way through trigger rend the feeling is different than a "revenge-rend" or a Ground Stomp-rend. So im a bit less hampered by the clunkiness of rend as you are
Obviously if rend and WW are shacked up tightly together, with these items you speak off mind you, then any clunkiness will be more pronounced. Knowing that I would examin ways to reduce that negative effect possibly.

I'm thinking about giving up on WW as a whole and just focusing on the rend aspect of this set, which requires you to wear only 4pc (3pc+rorg) which in turn allows you to combine a whole bunch of other items / sets even with mote.
Imagine combining the 4pc with mote + lamentation. Should work out quite well. The cold rend rune with lamentation gives you 20% more dmg to everything. Cold EQ barb + cold rend anyone? Add an ancient Wrath of the bone king... I would'nt rule out the addition of ground stomp wrenching smash either but probably unneeded. Obviously SA bracers, bott gem, etc...
Has anyone thought of theorycrafting different builds for the set anywhere? From what we've seen, I'd say a physical/lightning build seems most likely. A speed demon we were Flexy! But rend is still quite clunky with whirlwind. Stopping to rend in a pack or near it might get you killed. A better way of applying rend feels needed to me (I will play with the set anyway!)
If anything, this will atleast be supergood for T6 speedfarming, but pushing grs? Maybe not!
Im not sure if it was mentioned or not... is this new set making the rounds in Season 2 before hitting the regular servers, or when 2.1.2 hits will everyone start seeing drops on all servers? Just curious if I need to make a seasons barb to get "early access" to the set before it makes the jump.

You are right, Lut socks fucks this up. Well, we can only hope that the new set will have a weapon / bracers but i doubt it :\
I would say WW bonuses would work additively, not multiplicatively. Otherwise I got feeling it would be way too powerful without spending enough efford.
Like I said few posts earlier we know what pieces are in new set.
Everything is subject to change but the chances they will actually change it are very slim.
Let's hope blizzard realizes that 6pc sets suck balls because they offer 0 customization.
Atare, if we as barbs would want to play ranged, we'd go with wizards/dh! (Usually, some people love ranged barbs, but I don't really get the feel that a barb should be throwing things on people, we are BERSERKERS!)
If the WW bonuses would work additively, I would be very dissapointed... We wouldn't be insanely op, we would be on par with the other classes! ^^ If we would get perma wotb with this however, we would be insanely op, but extremely fun to play
A 70% increased boulder toss (15% + 15% gloves and helm + 50% from 300spear) and a 200fury cap, using sunkeeper or doombringer as second weapon you can get 200mil at least per boulder without WOTB
You think that is competitive?
1. Reakor Barb has more AoE and hits for 200-300M twice per sec not once per 3 sec.
2. You are silly thinking that staying at distance will let you live at grift 40+
3. You are super silly saying barb is weakest and dies in 1-2 hits. Reakor Barb has tons of effective toughness that comes from Ignore Pain, WotB, Ancient Parthans Defenders, CotA. Probably something around 500M if you stack everything. Check this. Grift 52 and he is getting hit a lot. It's not even close to dying from 1-2 hits. Learn to play.
4. I don't care he used Conduit. It's part of the game and Blizzard doesn't plan to disable that.
5. Most important. Barb is a melee char. You play it when you like to play melee. If playing melee is dangerous (very high grifts) then you find a way to counter this with higher toughness, crown control, healing etc. and stay in melee not change the lore and basics of class and pretend being Demon Hunter.
strongly agree. barbs are not demon hunters and also barbs are not jumping frogs like eq set.

Regardless of how competitive this will be with other classes in grifts. It will be fun to play WW again. I loved hearing "BK guide my hand". But as other have stated grifts where so situation and miserable at higher levels. I'm looking forward to trying out the BK set and finding some efficient use of leg gems that's different from the current state. I just want a reason to use other gems outside of trapped and powerful.
I'm sure they have more plans for WW outside of the set. Maybe proc coefs will be higher for WW and the 6pc set bonus on the new set becomes comparable to firebirds and marauders in terms of power.
First things first. Wording on new Skull Grasp means its multiplicative with base WW damage aka 340%*441%=1499% then with set you triple that so ~4500%. For most common APS that is 6000-7500% per sec. Triple damage Rend is ~ 3*1100/5 = 660% per sec. Also best Rends are imo Ravage (to cover more mobs with set effect ) or Mutilate ( for 10% damage buff ). Those Rends are fire/cold and most ppl will use physical/lightning WW so Rend damage probably wont benefit from elemental damage on gear. Therefore using Lamentation is imo a very poor idea.
The question could pop in your head "are ppl in Blizzard insane and havent done the math?" Well if they are insane and havent done the math then I will give you some examples to think about:
1. Way of light is monk's AoE skill (can be used as ranged attack with proper spirit stone) will be doing something like 7000%-9500% per cast and can definitely be cast once per sec at least. That is with new Sunwuko set which is only 4 pieces.
2. Firebird is doing 3000% per sec till mob dies ( or you run away 100 yards away from it ) so a little less but You can still add more damage with spells and it covers much more mobs than WW
3. New Wizard set will have 1250% per sec from slow time ( which with new head piece that make all runes work at once is extremely powerful tool on its own ) bubble * APS. So probably something around 2000% and then we can add Mirrorball to cast 3 buffed by set Magic Missles - Conflagrate. Those missles pierce so have soem solid AoE potential. 4140%*APS
4. The best example of overpowered damage is Lightning DH. Ball lightning with EA and Sentry damage is ~500%damage. Sentries shot them at 5APS.
We can set 5 sentries. Balls travels at ~33% speed will do 1500% total if target wont move. While it takes time to set 5 sentries ( around 10 sec ) and balls need ~2 sec to reach target it is 5*5*1500% = 37500% AoE damage per sec!!!
@Taktics_Andrew - What Do You mean that we dont know what pieces are involved? Obviously it can be changed but this picture is pretty clear.
It takes longer than 10 secs to lay 5 turrets.
