I wanted to attempt to make some gold before the xpac hits and am wondering if there are any sites and\or tips for knowing how much i should post items for? I am talking about the Gold Auction House, not RMAH, i remember in WoW i made a lot of gold flipping items and there was even a site where you could look up current prices for similar items amd whatnot.
Any ah flippers here that could give me some pointers please?
Auction House in D3 is different than WoW in that randomness is much bigger here.
Current situation in AH makes it hard to flip items , less items are selling and prices are changing alot , you have to be extra careful and smart about what you buy and sell.
Items that have gone up in Price :
Sun Keeper with CHD over 80% and Weapon Damage 47-50% with Socket , Damage to Elites 8-10%.(Weapon Dps doesn't matter , rerolled at Mystic)(Good to flip if you happen to snipe one as soon as it is put up for less than it should be)
Lacuni Prowlers : 9%Attack Speed , 5-6% CHC , high vit and another main stat(main stat doesn't matter as long as it is there , rerolled at mystic).
Witching Hour : 9% Attack Speed , 40-50% CHD , 8-12% Life , 50-80All res and high vit/armor (This item has 90 int atleast always , this stat will be rerolled , also alot of variance in Witching Hour can still sell , anything with high Attack speed and Crit hit damage , Pick up radius is getting more expensive and high vit roll is good)
Rings/Amulets : Different types of rings are selling for much more expensive than they used to , specifically the ones with 8-9% Attack Speed and Crit Chance/Crit Damage with main stat and socket and any other primary stat that can be rerolled into either Crit Chance or Crit damage , the higher you go with these the more expensive , also average damage will make these items skyrocket in price. With the rings come many types with more expensive prices like Natalya Rings/Zuni Rings/Tal's Amulets , just look for something that can be rerolled to Trifecta but Attack Speed is a must have on these pieces because RoS items don't roll 8-9% attack speed , also sockets are important because gems give about 220 main stat.
Mempos : Although they are cheaper , they are still selling and if you bid on some , you might be able to flip , look for 9%attack speed with 5-6% Crit Chance.
Chantodo's Wand : 9-10APoC Socket and high +aps.
Natalya's Boots : 90-100 Vit.
Zuni's Trail : 70+ All res , 8% Poison Damage 150+ Vit
Tal Rasha's Chest : Attack Speed again makes it an expensive chest.
Trifecta Gloves : 9% Attack Speed , 45-50% ChD , 8.5-10%ChC with main stat and all res go for sick amount of gold , also the legendary gloves with Socket if they are trifecta they have now much much higher price because they can be even more competitive than most items you find at 70.
The list goes on and on , some items can be bought now cheaper because less people are looking for them , for example I bought a crazy immortal king chest with 170 Str 291 vit and 800 armor and 78 all res for 200m and sold it for 400m , these items are a risk now , because if you pay alot for them , you could end up wasting gold instead of making gold , the longer you wait on these , the lower the price will go aswell.
Again , buying and reselling now is a risk and don't risk it if you don't know how to flip and what to flip , don't spend alot of gold on an item that you might end up stuck with it and unable to sell , because soon enough all these items will be worthless(IK Chest , Zuni Chest , Vile Shoulders , Nat Boots without vit or low vit , Ice Climbers , weapons).
Just keep the Mystic in mind and think what could be rerolled on an item and how will it be in RoS.
I just flipped a few Spectrums. Bought them for 50m and sold them for 5$ on the RMAH and then bought some gold and made double profit. Although the price of gold seems to be rising very quickly with people buying it for the expansion and it may continue to rise which will fuck up the prices of all the other items.
Wasn't there a feature in the ah that you could right-click on an item and search for similar? To get an idea of what that particular item, is fetching currently. Much easier to get an overwiew of that then having to scour through pages upon pages of other items in there as well, ie no order.
The "search for similar items" feature is totally broken, imho. It doesn't work on legendary/set items altogether. And for rare items, it doesn't search for "similar" items but for "better" items, as it puts in the exact values of your item - thus only finding items that are better (or equal to, though that's unlikely) in every single affix. The first thing you gotta do when using "similar items" search is to delete some "unimportant" affixes and lower the values for the remaining affixes.
Just two more comments with regard to things mentioned in this thread:
1) There's no shortcut to become an awesome AH flipper. No matter what anyone wants to tell you - the only way to make money on the AH is to get familiar with prices. There are so many people flipping, you need to be really quick in sniping good deals and you need to have the knowledge to immediately recognize underpriced items. Of course, realizing that an item is underpriced also means you know the "real" price it will sell for. As has been mentioned - there's always a risk involved; especially for some rare items in higher price ranges, the potential buyers might just not be online to accept your offer, and thus you might lose money in the end.
2) I really don't get why so many people think stacking tons of level 60 items will give them an edge on level 70. At some point people will come to realize that it's a waste, so be careful about that. I guess the only reason why this works is because some streamers promote that you should hang on to all kind of level 60 items for RoS (although these streamers are wearing level 70 gear exclusively themselves). There might be edge cases where you keep using a truly exceptional level 60 item (e.g., a quintfecta amulet) for a while, but in the end, Torment level legendaries will dominate in every slot. This is the most dangerous "flipping", because as the expansion comes closer and more people are aware that the gear reset is real, this insane run on the "stack up on crappy level 60 loot" bandwagon will stop.
Good luck on flipping. And don't forget to cash out before the expansion ends. Since the recent change to salvaging (you can't salvage items from the vendor anymore) it doesn't matter if you have 500 million or 5 billion gold in RoS, in my opinion.
The streamers probably don't want the competition on the AHs while they are having a fire sale to get rid of their vanilla items.
Also, to quote Dogbert...
"Beware the advice of successful people, they do not seek company"

EDIT: And when bot posts get deleted, I no longer have context. Oh dear.
And when bots necro threads, a mod appears and locks the thread.
