I wasn't really to upset with the whole twitter "big meeting" let down. What kind of makes me laugh is the "our CM twitters are just us talking, follow at your own risk" answer to the anger. It does that to me because when you have twitter contests, answer Blizzard/Diablo 3 related questions and use twitter as a way to disperse news to fans you can't assume that when as a CM you run a twitter under your CM name and use a Diablo monster as your image that people wont take that as being another means to get valid, serious information on the game. I'm not sure if anyone other than Bashiok does their twitter like that but... it's not unreasonable to assume that anyone who did would do so with the intent to be directly connected with their PR on say the forums and such.
So are we to disregard twitter talk as just lighthearted fun or can we expect that what they say on twitter is as valid as a forum response? I'm not asking as a way to be snide about the perceived community letdown but because it seems convenient to downplay its legitimacy when folks start to take it seriously when they don't want us to. Perhaps the issue is done with but I was just curious peoples thoughts or what they have read as to how Blizzard views Twitter as a source for community interaction.
