Everyone usually complains that Diablo 3 is taking entirely to long to be released, I am also one of those people, but this is not one of those threads.
There are recent changes coming up and as the title suggests, it got me speculating on what these current changes are and why they are holding the game back.
The one I really am hoping for since all the outcry is the expansion of players per server to atleast 6 or more, with only 4 players it seemed like a complete downgrade of a game from Diablo 2, people were angry, how can you socialize with your friends if only 4 of you can get into one game at a time? Someone will always feel left out...(probably me). This isn't a complaint about the system being the way it is, The maps are all really small, so I don't think more then 6 are needed, but 6 just seemes like the right number.
Supposedly according to blizzard there are going to be big changes to the beta servers coming up, I'm hoping for player increase, anyone else have some ideas?
wasnt those 8 players in d2 kinda an overkill ? a big overkill since many times 1 good geared character could kill alone those monsters in full game ...
but anyway im quite also disappointed with the number of people allowed in one game. 5 could work fine i think. on the other hand we dont have any idea how the game is actually flashy with all the end game aoes.
as going for the social aspect hmmm. dunno, i never had many friends in d2 and even if i had some all played alone. i think it was because of the loot being shared. thats gonna change in d3. everyone has its own loot now. but me and 3 players ... really hard to say. 5 sounds kinda better. but well, i dont like 8 ^^ that was way too many.
ya I never really cared for 8 players, like I said 6 would be a pretty good number, although it won't happen, I can still hope, if Jedi's can do it, so can I.....
4 player is fine with me, since I just have a couple of my friends who's gonna buy the game...but I can also see that 6 and definitely 8 players on the screen with monsters and tons of skill animations at the same time is very overwhelming. It will also require more RAM/gfx power or whatever to play it like that...and since Blizz is all about catering to the masses, this is fine. And they probably tested this internally so they know why.
It's still kinda weird you can only ever have 4 classes out of five in a party. They should have made the cap 5. But anyways, I understand their reasoning for lowering the cap from 8 in D2. It's already kinda hectic and mass spam with 4 players in the beta.

ya playing beta, when you all start killing enchanted monsters...that shit gets crazy, I could only imange later in the game, I'm sure the enviroments will be much more intense.

It won't be a player cap increase, I've played beta and w/4 people and like 20 monsters swarming you and everyone's pumping out skills I lost my character, I literally had to step out of the fight to see what the fuck was going on with my character. So Once that happened i was like "Ah, Okay I understand the move they made and It is definitely the right one.
Now to what I believe they'll announce, hmm I know runes is going to be in there because it's a system they've been working heavily on. They may not be introduced into the beta but we'll definitely get an update on them, I think they might include gems into the beta, and the mystic that's a possibility. maybe a slight level cap increase to preview more of the skills and passives. IDK what else they could add, maybe arena but that's about all that really needs to be added.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
I forgot to respond regarding Jay's future status update next week. As he said, it's a "status" update. So we'll probably just see some status updates...mostly about the rune-system, and as Entity said, maybe something about the Mystic and gems, since we don't know anything about it.
BUT if it is just gonna be as he said, a "status" update with nothing new included, nothing we haven't heard/read/seen included like a whole new system or something, I'm gonna be mad...no doubt about it. Polishing for an extra 6/7 months (since Sep to the hypothetical March/April release) is ridiculous, especially after Jay said at Blizzcon that the game is done and they are just polishing...
I'll only be happy if the rune-system is 100% done and if there's something new included...that's it.
Im fine with 4.. honestly... imagine this.. but with 100+monsters also doing crap + casting other spells on top of this (as this has to be spammed to get that many, if its really 6 people, they only cast one and then cast a full nother set of spells on top of this)
this is a lot more crazy than d2.. I think people will start to see that when its out, and be very happy with 4
