if I recall correctly, switching weapon slots in diablo 3 isn't an option, or is it? I didn't read anything in the past about it, and I also didn't see too much interest from the fanbase.
I'd be upset a little bit if it will not be an option. I used it frequently in diablo 2, it was just too good to have. It was about pvp builds using different slots but also for pvm it was a nice thing to have.
You could use your 2nd slot e.g. ...
... weapon + shield / 2*bo weapons on barb
... bow & arrows / titans + shield on bowies
... orb + shield / memory on sorcs
... weapon + shield / dual claws on assassins
... p&b dmg setup / curse setup on tvt-necros
... hammer setup / aura-supporter on paladin
... and many more crazy stuff!
Diablo 3? I didn't see or hear anything about switching weapon slots.
Did you? Did you use it in the past? Would you use it in d3? Your ideas?
I personally love it, would miss it in diablo3, especially in arena.
It's not in the beta, and I haven't heard anything about it either, but it is something I wondered about. I don't think we'll see it in Diablo III, but you never know.
I can't say I would miss it (not that I have a problem with it either), but I can see how it would be useful for certain classes/builds. Maybe they thought since inventory isn't really an issue in DIII, they wouldn't need to add it in. Sure it's not as easy to swap weapons, but I could see that being their reasoning.
I hope it doesn't return. We now have a greater variety of skills which fills in the void of having to switch between say being a ranged character and then going into melee combat because enemies have swarmed you. Every class has an escape mechanism.
Oh and having + skill weapons in your second weapon slot just to bo on a barb is stupid and clunky. You may miss it because of the excitement you got for having a higher bo in D2, but it won't be a mechanic that many of us will want to see return in D3.
Sorry this is sourceless... but I recall a developer being asked about this, and they said no to it. Personally, I don't like the idea of having to worry about two extra gear slots to fill, or of having to micromanage which weapon is out for which skill to maximize damage output. Besides a shield / no shield setup, I don't see the point. In what situations in D3 would a weapon swap help?
Good Riddance I play classic so the feature was never really useful to me anyway.

The devs said that thought it was mostly used for purposes that they didn't like... e.g., swapping to magic find weapons for the last hit on a boss, or just two more inventory slots, and that they didn't have much to put on the list of real reasons to include it. So, no swap.
