Like everyone else, I've been waiting for the next Diablo since like 2003. From what I've seen so far, I really think Blizz is doing a fine job on the next Diablo creation and keeping the movement and feel true to Diablo's roots as well as making amazing looking grpahics. That's awesome. I'm sure it will be the most epic Diablo ever.
And I'm starting not to care. I had to leave D2 finally about 2 years ago. (Hardcore player here, thought they fixed tppk. not so much...). So, I started playing WoW. Yeah, there's a ton of RPG's I could have chosen as well as a ton of MMO's. But, none of them really enticed me more than the other. I just went with WoW cuz I had played it when it launched for a few months, so the lazy in me found it easy to go back to WoW. Anyway, after playing on the MMO platform for the last 2 years, I gotta say that I've managed to lose a lot of the desire to have the finite Diablo environment that I used to immerse in. And despite how great D3 is looking, I'm less excited about it because I am now more drawn into the MMO style the longer I play. I'll probably still get D3 for the sake of "paying respects to an old friend", but I really can't say how long I'll actually play it. I also can't for sure say I won't get sucked back into bingeing on Diablo with this latest installment, but the fire and anticipation I once had for it is long gone and been replaced with a big focus on MMO. Anyone else really not all that excited about it anymore?
I voted yes but that is not entirely true. In fact, I am even more excited now about D3 then I was before (except announcement date). The closer and closer we get to playing this game, the more excited I get.

I'm looking forward to D3 just as much as I ever was. But I'm not like tons of other people who follow every single development update and every obscure quote even remotely related to the game.
I check in sometimes with major updates, but even with things like crafting and skills, I'm just allowing myself to be surprised and I'm not hanging on every moment waiting desperately for updates about the game or even the game itself.
So yes I'm just as excited forever. You starting not to care is your problem alone.
I took a break from Diablo II around 2005 and i can't say i really came back. But i can safely say i'm excited about Diablo III the more info we get and the closer we get to release. Sure, i don't know if i'll play for 4-5 years, as i did with Diablo II, but i'm definitely going to try and experience everything before i quit.
There's PvP that actually seems fun, even better PvE than before and very interesting characters. I think that when the beta launches things will go nuts again and everyone will be excited.
Honestly i'm more excited then ever, up until recently it was "ya diablo looks great but it is still two or three years away". Now we could be playing/watching beta in a matter of a few months from now.
Every update brings more excitement especially this last one because i want to play male DH first. They have done quite a nice job with keeping people interested.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Losing steam? No. Gaining steam? Yea I guess. When we get a release date that isn't delayed is when I will go ape**** crazy with excitement, until then I'm doing me best to keep a lid on it.
As I've said before, I'm okay with waiting much longer for this game to come out because it will be at least as long before I can afford to get new hardware anyway. I played SC2 on minimal video settings and it's pretty depressing to do so when I'd watch gameplay vids captured by machines with adequate hardware. I'll not go through that same feeling with D3.
After all this time I have never played WoW. Can't imagine I ever will. But whether I had a great machine or not, there are some very great games out there to pass the time with. I rely on my console for new games though in the meantime.
Portal 2, whoo!
I have this theory that Portal 2 will be used in some way to announce Half Life 3. Albeit with some subterfuge.
So yeah, plenty to do to distract me from the amount of time between now and D3.

I think you're way too focused on your games now. I mean, when I hear things like "I had to leave D2". Really? I never left, or joined any game. I play them when I feel like it. What is it with some people and the need to dedicate yourself to some level to a game? But I guess thats your business.
And now you're playing WoW. So what? Play WoW and sometimes play D3? WoW is a MMO, so a higher level of dedication is required if thats what you want. Nowhere does it say Diablo needs to be more. In fact, you seem to want D3 to be what it is not. Which is probably what causes your lack of excitement.
At one point I was losing the little bit of excitement for the release date, but then the announcement of the DH and the male DH got the heart going again.

The thing is for me... I am not going to vote because it depends on the day... I could be bored and look on the diablo fans website and im like I want this game... then i hate it... I play a video game get bored and then I want it again... then diablo 2 LOD is like counterstrike to me.... it gets boring so you play another game for a week or 2 then the game is awesome again... I think the game is going to be fun and I want to play it bug free... so right now I haven't lost any but maybe in a couple days of looking around I will lose steam do something els and come back on this site a month later to see what is up.
Indifferent, like Siaynoq said I'm not dedicated to keep track and go excited for every update to the game, however I do pay attention to major updates (such as releases of new class and whatnot).
I'm still excited for Diablo 3 but most of my hype is for the Witcher 2 currently (as it's coming out in a few months) but it'll die down soon eventaully, then hype will probably direct to Guild Wars 2 or Skyrim, whichever one comes out sooner.
But even with this hype with other games I will always be excited for Diablo 3.
I knew this game wasn't going to be out for a while. If I had of stayed around every day since JUN 08 I would have gone stir crazy by now. I'm kinda picking up steam again but for a while it was completely non-existent thanks to many other things in my life.
World of warcraft consumed a good chunk of time but that game makes me want to /slit my wrists nowadays. I always preferred games like diablo, nox, shadowflare, fate, sacred, etc, etc and I'm beta testing mythos but it's only just holding my attention.
I'm excited for D3 but thankfully I can put other things first to not feel like I'm on a grindstone.
I have been excited for DIII for the past couple of years but it is not always on my mind or anything. I check dfans.com about 3 or 4 times per week for any major updates and I skim through the latest forum posts if they pique my interest. I have my real life to keep my mind off of the wait. When the release date is announced, I will be way more excited. And when a copy is finally in my hands, I will have an orgasm.

I make sure people go to jail. The only thing more fun is Diablo 3.
I voted yes though at times I do get a bit lethargic about the game. But all it takes is reading one of you fans talking about what you are looking forward to in the game and my mouth starts to water so bad I have to cover the keyboard.

I might just be getting old. Or WoW has poisoned my mind. Or both.
Seeing a bunch of blood and gore in a rpg will be refreshing again I suppose. In any case, SEE YOU ALL IN HELL ON RELEASE DAY! @.@
