With Diablo 3 on the horizon, ive come to trust Blizzard when it comes to making some realy great advancements in their producs. With that said, one thing i really hope to see in diablo 3 is a much overhauled Key bind system, and perhaps macro systems as well. Something akin to WoW. The whole Function keybind system was clunky and it was really hard to manage more than 4 abilities due to lack on having 6 inch fingers.
Now I know macros and input devices taking advantage of macro key binds are a hot topic in the gaming world. Some would argue its cheating, I however do not follow that school of thought. I would be nice to see a more customizable and fluid feature and I know its not hard to do correctly.

with an action bar similar to wow (which is not a bad thing) id bet they will have a good key binding system, prolly with some improvements over the one being used in wow. im not worried about the interface, im sure it will be the best we have seen thus far.

you didnt need more than 4 spells for most classes. half of my hotkeys were for buffs like BO and all those sorc things. i only needed 3 for actual play, fb, tele and meteor.
macro is cheating if there are chain attacks or sequential spells.

u didnt have to use the f keys... in d2 right now i use zxcvasdf as my primary skills i use them to quickly switch between hammers, conc, charge, vigor, medi, cleanse, tele and redemption...
You know they've invented a pair of glasses that allow you to play games with your eyelids now. Honest

I agree. A macro that teleports you AND casts Blessed Hammer in 1 button would be cheating
If you buy a mouse with a gazilion buttons on it you can assign all of those to different keys using the mouse driver, and then assign those keys to the different skils in-game
I know with Microsoft Mouse drivers you can change it so certain mouse configurations are activated only when certain processes are running. ie, when d3.exe is running, change the mouse clicks to these things
I never saw anything wrong with the D2 system anyway, not that I mind if they improve on it (as long as it IS an actual improvement)... I used the F keys just fine... You just move your hands and fingers faster...
In D2 you had to select an ability and then use it.. whats wrong with how D3 is doing it now? You have an action bar, press "X" key to use said ability. At least thats how it was in the videos.
I don't see any reason for macros.
Man in wow you have like 342352345 spells in diablo you have like 8.
With the new hotbar each spell has a hotkey so why would you have Macros lol.
imagine this macro with the wizard. teleport, time stop, meteor ,lighting followed by magic missle.
Youd destroy some1 in a pvp match by pressing a button lol.
There is cast rate though. You cannot cast all your spells in an instant just because the macro can select them/execute them in an instant. It is perfectly possible to switch spell -> cast -> switch spell -> cast etc. without a macro and still execute them just as fast.
Macros for diablo are just for the lazy that would rather do all that with 1 click, and watch it all come together rather than actually being there in the action...

Is there a need for anything else? What exactly?
