So everyone seems to be focusing on the classes at this point, but what about the bosses ?
Both diablo games had memorable bosses, like the butcher, and of course, diablo himself. But what about those in D3 ?
Anyways, what kind of boss do you want to see in D3 ? What would it look like ? What types of abilities will it use ? And if you want to go in depth, how would it fit into the lore of the diablo universe ?
Personally, I think a smallish(not as small as those bastard leapers tho, maybe half the size of one of baal's minions), fast boss would be cool to fight. Something that is really a pain to hit, and needs some tactics and planning to corner and finish off. Maybe a boss that can teleport right next to you, hit you with a few attacks, then jump back or evade your attacks for a while. Maybe even being able to crawl on walls every now and then, requiring you to bring a missile weapon to get some hits on it.
As for how it would look, probably like diablo, except more serpentine, and more sleek. Hell, maybe add a few more legs to give it a spider-like feel. Would be hard to mash together diablo, a snake, and a spider, but I bet Blizzard could get it done :D.

A fallen angel. And no, not a monster possessed by an angel like Izual. I mean a darker ethereal version of what his name in D2. With tore off wings tendrils dragged behind him and everything. You know, those thing that used to follow the guy in the hall of mirror. One of them is a Butcher.
Well i do not know about boss but i remember in D2 when i was looking for tal rasha's tomb and came across those snakes. Oh my god that freaked me out the first time. the hissing and striking at your guy. Would be cool to have a big snake that you have to fight or that protects something. When he would kill you he could wrapped around you like a andaconda and you could hear your bones break as he looks at you and strikes at you then swallow you whole in if he kills you. Sort of like the WWI demo when the boss grab the player and bit his head off lol . Just imagine in the new 3d graphics could be nice.
I want to see a "boss" fight that actually involves killing 3 "bosses" (not the prime or lesser evils necessarily) and a whole bunch of weaker adds. The key to making this fight would be the AI. The 3 bosses should have very different skill and abilities that compliment each other perfectly. Combine this with lots of movement, swarming minions that are designed to pretty much slow you down, and some decent positional mechanics and you have a real winner on your hands (in my opinion).
Just some ideas for the encounter/AI...
* If one of the bosses gets close to death have him try and "retreat" from the battle by having the other two move to block the character(s) and summon some extra swarm of monsters to slow down the character(s). If a boss does get far enough out of range he will start regening life.
* Various scripted events throughout the fight where the bosses try and get to certain positions (say runes on the floor) and if at least 2 get to their rune something bad happens (you certainly wouldn't want all 3 getting to their runes). To accomplish this the bosses spawn more swarms of enemies. There could be multiple (say 5) runes and each one would have a different effect. One, for example, could heal the bosses, another could spawn a swarm of tougher than normal minions, another could bring back a boss if one died, another deal large life/mana damage, and the last could spawn a super massive swarm of little monsters. The boss AI should be capable of determining the best rune combination to use given the state of the battle and possibly even how close they actually are to the runes (if they are already very close to a set there would be no point in going to another one that is further away, for example).
* To ensure this fight is soloable/not impossible the bosses should be able to be slowed or even stunned/knocked back/etc.
Basically the essence of this fight is taking down a set of enemies that uses a combination of some very smart AI with swarming mobs. Such a fight could be very challenging, although perhaps the most challenging aspect of the fight would be balancing it such that it is possible for a solo player, but still very challenging for a group. Perhaps the AI and abilities used could get smarter/stronger with more players instead of a standard increase in just life/damage.
Obviously such a fight holds many more possibilities than what I listed, just wanted to give a quick "off the top of my head" type response to thise thread.

That would be such an epic fight :D.
Doing that with a full party would open up so many options for tactics.
D2 kindof had tactics, but a battle like that would require tons of planning.
Maybe to make it easier for single player users, it could be a kind of side quest ? Like the countess, not required to finish the game, but there nonetheless.
I really hope they add in something like this, it could easily fill the role that uber trist played.

Well that seige beast was pretty original.
If we get another boss with that level of badassery, I'll be happy
Those finishing move things that he used were really what blew me away, in previous games you just kindof.... fell down dead. Now you can get decapitated and thrown across the screen ^_^.

Both of those sound great
The reaper one could have a really badass cinematic attatched, and the flexible one would be fun as shit to fight. I really want to see a boss that is fast, dunno why but it's just one of those things that I need to have in D3.

The rabbit from, "Monty Python's quest for the holy grail." The only way to kill it would be to open the chest which holds the only pot in the game" The Holy Hand Granade." If this is not a boss then a replacement for the secret cow level. Think; if you were hit by the rabbit then your char would talk in a british accent and say, " It's onl a flesh wound."
- Some boss battles that you can use strategically to tip the scale in your favor, like gaining higher ground. I don't mean RTS, but think of the battle in the room where pippin knocks the bucket down the drain. Remember the ledge and columns that surrounded the room? All destructible and awesome!
- Lots of dust and debris flying around and the rooms get trashed.
- When the monsters yell, shake the screen
- Bosses that have limbs that can be hacked off, yet they continue to fight while blood pours from the gaping wound, leaving trails on the ground in the monsters wake.
- Two words: Undead Dragons.
- Boss battle that have less to to with click fests (that's what the rest of the game is for) and more to do with taking opportunity when they rise
- Some how give the fights meaning. I want to feel as though life or death hangs by a thread. I want to feel emotions such as fear, terror and surprise while also feeling moments of triumph, success and happiness not only at the end of a battle but during the battle.
Death worms would be pretty incredible, would involve lots of running tho to avoid getting swallowed... Kindof reminds me of the sand worms from the dune series, I loved those things.
I'm all for the idea of some kind of undead boss, maybe not dragons, but maybe.... an undead diablo? Maybe Baal and Mephisto revived him after his soulstone was shattered, it went horribly wrong, and now he's all rotted and decaying ?

But I want a different one with a different look.
Btw, people have already talked about Tyrael becoming evil in D3, so we might actually get to see that type of boss :D.
Something that was from D2 probably, to really tell you 'Hey! It's from hell; did you think it would die?!?!'
I mean I'm not against killing him again, but it would be a bit repetitive :(.

Anyone know if the other brothers will be seen in D3?

Done that already..gets lame if done again.
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions

Nothing could be as repetitive as the Pokemon games..
Ontopic: If we go back to a dessert area I want to see a Death Worm.
You're kidding right?
We would have to have actual dragons in order to have undead dragons..
Trang-Oul is an exception.
