I hope we get a better save game system during single player. Something like where you can make multiple save files of your progress and wish to return to a certain point back.
And how would you incorporate this in a multiplayer game?
See multiplayer games. This is an SP feature in all cases.

There are also a lot of arguments against these kind of save systems, it simply ruins the game, as players are able to manipulate the game instead of playing it.
Yes. Babysitting the players is the best way /sarcasm. Don't let them use cheats, don't let them save, don't let them get where they aren't supposed to etc.

Save game systems can sometimes simply ruin the game. A save anytime anywhere system also sucks, as it completely takes challenge out of the game.
No, it doesn't. Stop seeing nothing besides Diablo out there.
A save game system means the game is not easy. It means the game is nearly impossible to complete without a saving system. It would also eliminate all the silly body runs.
99% of the games I played have a normal save game system and nothing was ruined for me.
I played S1 (normal save system) and S2 (DII style) and I hardly noticed a difference! Except at least in S2 you can save your PROGRESS on the map.
I want the old save system back from D1...it was the best. always picks up right where you left off...You have no idea how pissed I used to get when I was in the middle of a level and I had to go somewhere and had to lose everything I had done because you start back in bloody town. The D2 save system is really crap when you look at it.
I can't imagine them not bringing back the option to make hardcore characters, because there was a lot of people that hardcore was all they would play and some players that liked to dabble in hardcore(myself). If they changed the save system hardcore characters would be pointless.

Yes! I agree. I love the DI system, it was realistic and it made every choice permanent. If I know that I can just go back to any saved point, I end up saving way too many points and it makes the game less fun.
Though I suppose I am the kind of person who prefers hardcore play.
yeah, d2 save system ftw! i think it would be pretty cool to bring the aspect of starting where you left off when you saved back from d1. We know there's somepoint of check point system that's supposed to put you close to battle after you die, so maybe instead of starting us back in town we could start at the nearest checkpoint we've found when we saved.
yeah, there will always be the repetitive killing of bosses to get good items though. and my guess is that the way points aren't the same every time with randomized maps so you'll still have to find out where to go
