the whole fun of diablo ii was trading uniques. using a currency like gold in WoW may be acceptable, but to honest i love trade system just the way it is in diablo ii (bar some inflation and duping issues)
Yes, even I, am a trading addict. Both in D2 and WoW. I loved trading with SoJs and runes as my currency but honest, I do not want to see Diablo 3 become a re-hash of Diablo 2.

Well what if you tried this ring on to see how you liked it and found you liked another ring better, the best part of D2 was your ability to trade that item and get what you wanted.
If people want to spend all their time on D3 just hunting for items so that you can trade with them, so be it. Let them spend their time how they choose, its the same if you wanted to spend your whole time questing.
I am positive it will be changed to benefit everyone.
That is a risk / reward I would love to see.
And again, I never once claimed or proposed that items could be traded for other items, but there has to be a limit of doing so. "Five Windforces for an Occulus!"
Dude just becuase you want the currency of the game tobe gold doesnt mean we all have to go your way? hwat is the matter with trading items for items why should we use gold or coins for items? i live go these 2 shakos for that Vampire-Gaze? thats how the game is made top tier items dont have drop rates like in WoW do some research on Diablo 2 before you get to thinkin gup ideas on it. Grand fathers and WF's didnt drop every 10 kills or something they dropped like one in 100 or 1000. also stop posting this retarded threads like this we already have one we dont need every nerd to come up in here and telling us about this BoP and BoE system we know how it works suprisingly only very very few people bring up that idea why becuase those people played WoW dont lie you played it. diablo isnt even a mmo so why would you think something used in a MMO could work in diablo 2 different games. keep your damn WoWness away from Diablo next thing you know we'll have gnomes mages....
First thing is first... U mad?
I never claimed I didn't play WoW and so I don't see why you would tell me not to lie? LoL. Second grade level reading comprehension "FTW."
Did I say there was anything wrong with trading items for items? No. In fact, I even said this would be prevalent in Diablo 3, even with the BoE and BoP systems.
This is what happens when people who do not know how to read try to argue. This skew the facts of the other side of argument and make up outlandish claims.
By the way, quests were used in WoW so... Oh my God! It shouldn't be in Diablo 3! No wait, your argument will be that there was quests in Diablo 1 so your claim is a "OMG IT WAS THERE FIRST SO THEY GET TO USE IT AGAIN SO HAH!"
But then again, many people on this forum want a re-spec system and hmm, I wonder where that stemmed from?
blizzard would NEVER dare to implement this fucking bop system...it sucks ass in wow and you know it
I never said to use it for all items but let's get real. Even great games or franchises need compromise and if we let the economy of Diablo 3 become Diablo 2 again, it'd be pointless to even implement gold.
if your playing online your diablo 3 characters will exclusivly be stored on their server. they have had years of experience and wont let hacking ruin such a big game.
Is there a link supporting this? I thought on Battle.net players held the data to their characters and such.

I can understand that, if that is the case why not once you use an item or equip an item that all characters can use be able to sell it for the regular currency of the game, whatever that may be, but be a fraction of the real value since you "used" that item.
Its still a risk/reward system but also gives the person the freedom to TRY other items and different builds which I think is a positive.
I think BoE might work in this, BoP would be terrible because you would never be able to trade items or mule them to your other characters. Without a BoE system implemented inflation would ruin the economy, D2's economy is blamed on the dupers, but having numerous copies of each item, using them from character to character, then trading them after was also a huge problem for inflation.

Currently they do, but I too think this will change and you will first log on to Battle.net then launch your game from there where your character/profile will be saved. Something like Steam.
Although I have heard no hard evidence either way.

Finally someone who understands a bit about economic.
I mean, why would anyone want the value of their gear (in terms of rarity and power) to be lowered because Joe Blow and his family have two copies of the same gear?
Oh yeah, that's how the BoP system was used in WoW *puts up flame shield* and you can only get rid of the item by selling to a merchant or by destroying it.
By the way, if you guys are like me and have play Diablo in the dead of night (or early morning), your friends aren't always online the same time as you and when you do the old way of muling ( dropping items in a low level game and get your mule in), sometimes your items will be lost by Battle.net crashing.
That doesn't make any sense, just because Joe Blow went out and found more of the items that people want either by luck or hard work, why shouldn't he be rewarded for that? Why should his be worth the same as yours? It is simple supply & demand, you don't have to pay what he is asking for it, if you want it go put the work in and find it yourself.

I am not too opposed to that, however still think trading, between your characters & other characters, should be included some how as it was such a big part of D2

True. I didn't elaborate well. What I mean is, when there is an influx of items, either by trading or muling (because the item will never be destroyed) then the value goes down. Since no item would ever be destroyed, inflation kicks in and the economy becomes inundated with items and they become the currency (just like in Diablo 2, duping aside).
That's why even though the United States has mints to print money, we don't just print a trillion dollars because it's convenient.
I think BoP would be rather bad for Diablo. But BoE could work in some way, perhaps bind items to accounts so people can use them on their own character but not trade them. That way there won't be an overflow of used items on the trade market but there would still be the possibility to use an item yourself and later re-use it on new character.
Well, I don't propose BoP for all items, just certain ones. Maybe high-end gear you get from completing quests maybe?

Well, with the BoE system you still can, easily. A barb who finds a wand of flame can easily mule it to his alternate sorcerer.
Serious whats the point of either in a game like Diablo?
The new item system shows only your loot on screen, you don't need to struggle for it, so when you get it then why should you have to have BOE or BOP systems in place?

The influx of items in D2 is only because the game has been out for so long, if you played at all when it first came out having even a mid grade unique was crazy. If Blizzard somehow cleans this system up maybe through some type of reset, like that of a ladder it will keep the game clean, again duping aside.
This is just like the US Mint which you brought up, as new money is printed old money is destroyed and it is up to each individual to go out and find, trade, get lucky to find his share.
the only thing im doubtful is why i need to trade items.
BoE system doesn't change the situation, because we do not know if gold will be much important as in WoW (and i don't think so, because you don't have a trade system where to buy items for creating ur gear or buff yourself for defeating a boss.).
the problem is why i do need to trade the end-game uniques? blizz must give us an answer about that.
and remember: economy is based on farmers. and most of d2 players (if not all) have farmers for gathering the items to sell.
You don't have to trade end-game uniques, but keep in mind that the end-game unique that drops for you maybe be for another class. A simple BoE system for this would work well, but I think at least a BoP system should be in place for quest items.

I played it the first week it came out and I think within six months SoJs started to take over as currency.

NO WAY IN HELL SHOULD THEY ADD THIS. I personally see lots of people not buying the game if this happens. The game is based on Bartering, not buying.
