I like Diablo 2's system, i don't know why but it's funner, I was playing hellgate and drops just weren't as exciting. Oh, and what's roll for items?, is it like when you're in a party and it randomly picks who gets it?
To everyone who says item-nabbing detracts from the experience of monster slaying: You forget that the heart and soul of Diablo has always been the items! It was never about killing monsters, that is just a means to an end. The reason we kill thousands of cows is to deck out our characters with godlies. I think an individual loot system really detracts from the thrill of getting great items. For example, which is a more satisfying experience, finding a Grandfather sword in Diablo, or buying PVP gear in WoW? I've always found equipping my WoW character a pretty empty experience, since it is all about spending time grinding away, and not about quick reflexes and luck.
I know you guys want to be guaranteed your items, its much safer and less risky. Most people don't want to be punished for dying, socketing their items wrong, or making bad level-up decisions, but don't forget that consequences are what makes our decisions and actions actually matter.
Sorry for being preachy, I guess I'm just really worked up right now. I hope you guys didn't find me too condescending.
i think you just convinced me that FFA is better and more engaging at the end of the day.
but honestly they should just have a Party Leader decide/ or room creater decide how the loot will drop.
1) FFA
2) FFA but on main bosses Individual Drops
3) Individual drops

I voted the same as D2, nothing wrong with it since you could trade in D2 anyways.
but the individual drop scheme is good makes things less complicated and less annoying for ppl who cant click as fast as the other players LOL.
"The same as previous diablo games- FFA "
Why? becuase it was fun!
as soon as a boss died people who have to rush in and try to swoop the items, that was fun and made it intersting. you where always on the edge of your seat clicking away at items droped.

Made it unfair for ranged classes that couldn't stand toe to toe with the bosses, however.
I voted FFA... but I'm not gonna lie; as a faithful bowazon player, I almost never scored anything good in groups since I was always firing arrows from a safe distance. The individual loot will be a welcome change that encourages bigger groups.

This is bs, just keep an eye in the boss life and get close when hes moribund, every sorc/zon i've played with did this, i did this, and i bet you do this.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
i usually don't post on forums, just read them, but i just wanted to say that i agree with ErU and people should stop whining about FFA.. i play a sorc and it's not that hard to just get close to the boss when he's about to die, this does not mean that I just stand in the back doing nothing just waiting for the boss to die, seriously it's not that hard. If you're a decent player this should not be a problem. Sure you'll not always get the loot, but sometimes you will.. and you don't complain about FFA when you do manage to get the good drops..
In my opinion FFA adds a special something to the game, a sense of greed and just wanting to kill every monster just to get more drops and it didn't slow down the fast pace of the game, but the choice is already made so there's nothing we can do about it other than get used to individual looting
But really I'd like class specific items to drop. I did kind of like the thrill of the FFA though I barely ever got it because of my lag. (good old 56k modem)
If it does just drop for each person then it should be completely random who gets the good stuff. So it's pretty much the same as FFA just not lag effected.
Some of the "flaws" of Diablo actually make it more exciting, I suppose.
They said it has individual loot system..I agree it is probably the best. Although it was a great feeling when you found out you clicked the fastest
The problem with the spam click fest is that it's very susceptible to botting/hacking.
Also there wasn't much in it, I am a fast clicked but because I come from New Zealand my latency is much higher and I would never out click a half decent American.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
The only possible detriment I could see to an individual loot drop is when everyone got to see that a ridiculous item dropped. I hope this individual loot is only implemented on bosses and their pack for that reason. Maybe not. I used to play with a "guild" of sorts and not really in degenerate pubbies.

Note: Video is broken into 5 parts, unsure which part states the loot system.
