I think sometimes people overestimate Cain's importance. Sure, he's the last of his Order. But even among his order, he's merely just a walking library of knowledge. So whether he lives or not just doesn't seem that consequential to me. He played far more importance in the first game, anyway.

But that's exacly it. He is the last of his order, and he is a walking library. I don't exacly think that warrants a reasonable explanation for him being an evil mastermind and kicking Diablo's ass (as seems to be a popular theory) but surely it warrants some importance in a future plot.

Perhaps then I'm thinking that potentially, he's an important character. But besides guiding you through the games, he had little to do with the actual plot. Marius had more to do with the plot than Cain.
However, Diablo has always been more plot driven than character driven than say, Warcraft 3.
I understand Cain is the last of his order, but what makes a Horadrim a Horadrim? And what makes them so powerful? It seems as an entire order they were powerful, but mostly because Tyrael was their main benefactor. Besides having that important distinction, I haven't been able to ascertain what was special about them. Perhaps they possessed some powerful form of magic that the other mage clans lacked. Unfortunately there remains little information about the Horadrim other than that they played the main role in the binding of the Three. But they accomplished this through Tyrael by receiving the Soulstones.
I think he dies cause he was cursed by someone that when evil takes birth again your soul shall be sacrificed to provide life to the evil lord lol
Or some other reason but i think that maybe we'll see him afterwards in the game or maybe he would be against us and with the forces of evil.
But i say that he'll die.

I don't know. Perhaps because they were a joining of all mage clans, they somehow managed to combine their different realms of knowledge into more powerful spells and rituals. Other than that, now that you say it, I don't know.

Whatever they were exactly, they must've been the elite. Perhaps like you said, they were a combination of several different mage clans, but only the top notch of each clan were recruited. And not publicly, but pulled aside in secret and asked if they wished to join the new secret order.
Given how powerful the Three seem to be in Scales of the Serpent (even Astrogha is literally paralyzed by Diablo), they had better be the elite, or they could never have managed to capture them.
I always think of the Horadrim as being only males though, but is there any reason for me to do so, or were Sorceresses part of it too?

can't have him dead! In my mind hes most likely gonna be the mentor of the next hero or will even remake the order of the Horadrim against the coming war against the Burning Hell!
Cain Turns into a hippo and gets hit by an on coming train and then rolls down a hill and into a ball pit with little kids who he then touches in places he shouldnt and gets called a perverted old man 18 25.00%

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
i think cain will die, if he dies it will set up the plot, like he discovers that evil is rising a try's to find you, he dies but before he dies he tells you what happening, it can be like the intro
I think he dies.. not really sure how but I bet he will eventually either die of old age or be captured and slayed. The game most likely will be at least a couple months after D2. Or it could be based on watever happened before D1
Who are the idiots who voted for the hippo thing..?
And btw if cain transformed into a hippo they wont call him a perverted old man.. ehh? ehh?

On a personal note, I hope he doesn't die. Deckard Cain is a badass. Looking at the issue from a plot development standpoint, however, Cain dying would probably enrich the plot and open up a lot cooler possibilities.

LOTD
Deckard Cain was already dead!
Thats right he's been undead all this time, but the good kind of undead.
Turns out he was a kick-ass mage or somethin' ressurected by Tyrael in order to help the nameless hero in D1 and D2.
Thats why he wasn't killed in Tristram.. because he CANT be killed!
Booya Ressurection like Gandalf in LOTR!
