Doing very well in the first two acts but at least act 3/4 and the end of act 2 are not possible with my gear atm. Its a kind of sad... that blizzard fucked up the melee classes abit.
I have very similar stats to previous posters: 33k health, 7700 armor (71% dmg reduction), and 12k damage. I have 160+ on all resists (including the 50 from War Cry rune).
Using CDs sparingly allows for longevity - i.e. don't pop all of your cooldowns at once. Get a feel for particular situations and use one at a time, using the Ground Stomp stun strategically, etc.
I should also mention that I have some life leech off my weapon (3%); I find that this helps a great deal in large packs (take the life gained from Cleave's normal damage, plus the 85% done to everything in the area when I get a killing blow with it as well).
*One qualification: I do all rare packs except for those that include invulnerable minions (unless they're mere skeletons).
I find it really really hard to believe that so many of you say you have act 1 on farm.
Judging from what I read here my gear is better than most of yours (50k hp, 70% dr and 13K dps, etc...) and I still die a fuckload.
Sure I've killed SK with 5 stacks up but to call it "farm" .. nah far from
Then you suck. Inferno act 1 is a joke; I just timed my last run. From start to SK kill --> 28 minutes. SK --> Arach 36 minutes. Arach --> Butcher 42 minutes. Died twice to fiery chains + molten pack, rest was a breeze.
43k HP, 66% Physical+60% All res, 8k armor, 12k dps(in combat that makes 17k dps with frenzy and berserker passive).
Act 1 is a real easy walk except for some packs with invulnerable minions. I'm killing Butcher in under 2 minutes with 5 stacks of Nephalem solo.
But Act 2 mobs are just raping me. Even simple demons are quite a problem(those guys with big maces in act 1 smash me for 10k, but in act 2 they already hit for ~30k). The real inferno starts when the first elite pack comes to play, they just kill me in several seconds after WotB+Striding giant wears off.
My monk friend is getting same type of problems. At first we thought we're doing something wrong, but after reading some forums I realized that melee classes are seriously gimped. Maybe in a wizard+dh+wd party barb can do fine in Acts 2-3-4, but solo play is a pain.
Guys who posted they are doing fine in Acts 2+, please post your build and stat page with character info and your party classes. I still have some hope that we're just plain noobs that are doing something wrong...
I run a 2h Barb, and I have no problem with Act 2 Inferno (with the exception of Belial). You do not need to be super tanky to be a Barb in Inferno, and I have never used a 1h and shield in Inferno while solo. In some ways the best defense is a good offense.
Guys, can anyone say about act2. What stats do we need. My frieds as mok said that we need resistance. Alot resistance for it. I dont exactly know... I had only 38k hp, but 25k dps with 1-hand weapon. 1st act is a joke for me, 1 run for SK is about 30 mins, it is harder for me just to find elite mobs that to kill them lol. I started to buy resistance staff... but i really dont know, will it help me? Yes, melle is gimped, but the only one problem it is to survive, so lets discuss it.Maybe 800+ all of resistance will help us? I cant check it couse i only have about 300 all of them now with my war cry buff and i even didnt have such resistance yesterday, when i tried to go to act 2.

Could you guys share your stats and builds?
Cause atm I have 2 ways of doing inferno act1:
1) solo or group; 2h; seismic slam (15fury cost) + wrath + earthquake + ignore pain + unforgiven
kite all normal packs with seismic slam and enjoy the rage generation from unforgiven passive
elite packs = pop all cooldowns, hope I kill it before the cooldowns end, retry until I do
2) group; sword and board; shitload of stun/support skills
I'm the support bitch that follows the demon hunter around as a bodyguard
and both aren't really 'fun' so after reaching inferno I now only play 2hrs a day because I get bored after!
I've farmed up hell act4 about 10~15 times orso and when looking for gear on AH I can't really find any improvements in vit/str below 1mil buyout so I think my gear is good

Might be me, but you're talking about Nightmare mode right? I can't see how you can have problems with NM. Aside from 1 rather annoying combination of abilities on a champion pack at the start of Oasis (On those whirlwinding mobs) I have yet to die from something that was too hard. The only other reasons I died was things like: Oh i'll soak that shit up! Then comming to a conclusion that I just better could've decided to Leap / Stun them or something.
Anyway, I've cleared most of NM with the following build:
I won't act like this build is super, but as I said, it worked for me on almost everything. I hate long CD abilities though, and i'm no fan of Revenge either, waiting on a ability to proc in order to get healed is WAY too random for my taste, but as i'm working my way through hell now i'll try to get that sorted in the process.
To sum it up though, NM basicly allowed me to just go ape-shit dmg wise and kill it before it kills you.
sorry inferno, I'm used to writing NM (nightmore) from playing swtor where it was the highest difficulty xD
Nightmare (and first 90% of hell) is fine imo for barb, you can still have the real barb vibe while playing a bit more careful there

Calling BS, there's way you have no problem with Act 2 inferno. Belial is actually pretty easy for barb as long as you have a good strat for second phase.
I went thru everything solo for the most part playing my Barb. I went DW and 2H just depending on which was better. I had no real issues being able to play through any of the difficulties. Nightmare wasn't much and Hell there were a few hickups but got through it solo without too much issues.
Once I hit inferno I went in and found it was not too bad as long as I played my build the right way. I just finished Act 1 Inferno earlier this morning and just touched a bit in Act 2. I have 6k armor, 36k HP, 15k dmg. Not amazing stats but it got me through Act 1. Act 2 is a completly different ballgame lol. There is no reaction to the mobs, it is just you running in and you dying for the most part. The wasp at the very start of Act 2 throw those smaller bugs at you. Well each of those is hitting for 10k lol.
The damage is insane. I love the challenge and a game to test how good I can really be. If there is a will there is a way. I might have to group with some buddies if I want to progress right now honestly thats ok.
I get why other barbs are pissed that it seems unfair that other classes do not see the same problems we do when it comes to Act 2 and on in inferno. Wizards obviously can get thru it by dodging and keeping up dots. Thats just a smart use of class mechanics so in turn Barbs should have a way to get thru Inferno Act 2.
Like I said I understand the complaints but I wanted difficult content and I seem to have gotten it. I did notice though that if you look at your Armor in your char stat page. It was the amount of damage reduction for monsters of YOUR level. And since Act 2 Monsters are over 61 I would think that losing that dmg reduction is what is killing us but honestly I am not a game designer so I would have no proof that is what it is. Just a thought.

Just wanted to say that this post is awesome. I like the constructive view on things rather than the bitchy, obnoxious view that a lot of people tend to give.
They said that Inferno wasn't going to be easy and you were going to need to farm gear. I'm guessing that in this case Barbarians and Monks are going to be impacted far more than other classes... the Wizard, DH and WD can make it by with lesser gear because it seems like they are more capable of being able to kite.
I started a Barb and it was the class that I wanted to play. I got a little frustrated early on because the class just wasn't playing like I expected it to. I almost have my DH to 60 and then I am going to go back and mess around with the Barb. I like that it seems like more of a challenge than the other classes.
I just killed diablo in nightmare on my barb, I had some rough patches where i had to switch to defensive for certain mob packs, but other then that it wasn't too bad. Except anything that Knocked Back/ran away made my life general hell.
this makes me afraid to push through hell now, might just farm nightmare for my DH/wiz and use them to push forward. Maybe see-saw gear, get the DH through hell, farm wiz gear, throw her up through inferno act 1, farm gear for everyone else etc.

25k DPS without rage, with it 50k. ~8k armor, 37-38k HP, all resistance 200-250

I go into A2 inferno when I feel like getting my shit pushed in...
barbs are garbage currently..
the fact that a wizard/wd can solo all of inferno a week into release is a joke.
if we have to stack defensive stats, run and kite mobs , or go sword n board just to survive 4 seconds..something is wrong.
