In 2008 it was planned by the bush administration that 20,000 troops would be moved into the US with the sole intent of "domestic response". This could easily be construed to stop things like protests by flagging them as riots. The military is not made to police the country but to protect it from outside sources. We have the police force and other organizations for that. It also violates Posse Comitatus Act which has been standing for 130 years.
There have been many reports across the US of the military mobilizing all across the US. I for one have noticed a larger shipment of military vehicles by train and living near an airbase a lot more activity in the air as well.
All of this of course on the cusp of the new video provided by FEMA and Homeland Security depicting white domestic terrorists ,even outright fabricating pictures of "Jihad Jane" with blue eyes, and encouraging people to report suspicious activities such as filming the police, taking notes, forgetting your luggage or a backpack somewhere. These are all very serious things, there are terrorists around every corner out to get us and now they're not just muslim, they're white too! Everyone go to work, do your job, then rush home, it's not safe. My favorite part of the video? "It's not easy to put all the pieces together, and we don't expect you to."
FEMA is also well known for providing FEMA camps for the public with barbed wire on the inside to protect us, and making mass black plastic affordable FEMA coffins.
No need to worry though, FEMA has no real power unless we're under a state of national emergency. National emergency can only be declared by the president in times of war and natural disaster. So no need to worry since there is no war in Libya. Airstrikes aren't acts of war they are kinetic actions. But wait, none of that matters, because we have been in a state of emergency since 2001.
So what powers do the government and FEMA get at the drop of a hat?
Executive Order Number 12148 created the Federal Emergency Management Agency that is to interface with the Department of Defense for civil defense planning and funding. An "emergency czar" was appointed. FEMA has only spent about 6 percent of its budget on national emergencies. The bulk of their funding has been used for the construction of secret underground facilities to assure continuity of government in case of a major emergency, foreign or domestic.
Executive Order Number 12656 appointed the National Security Council as the principal body that should consider emergency powers. This allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of U.S. citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the United States and grant the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians. The National Guard could be federalized to seal all borders and take control of U.S. air space and all ports of entry. Here are just a few Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation.
It doesn't stop there though folks. The number one group suspected group for domestic terrorism? "Disgruntled Iraq war veterans." Once you're processed through the war machine and they can no longer get any use from you they teach Explorer Scouts, children, to shoot you.
I'll see if I can use your post as an excuse to build that lightweight upper for my AR-10 and stockpile another 5k rds of ammo...
(Personally I am more concerned with the daylight shining on confiscatory taxation and so few people invested in changing the tax code, but that is me.)
I honestly don't understand what you want to accomplish with these threads. I don't think it comes as any surprise to anyone of moderate intelligence that the government does not fit into the description of what it is supposed to be, by any means.
Anyone able to think for themselves can see that politics and the media are just a big distraction from the behind the scenes work the government does. What they say and what they do will always be two different things.
If the country does become the monster we all fear it could, the only thing that will ever bring it down will be lots and lots of bloodshed.
Idk...I just don't see the point in caring right now. There's nothing that can really be done right now. Voting is for da lulz and action will only come once it's glaringly obvious that our beloved government are a bunch of snakes that embody the tyranny of man. Raising awareness is great...but by the time enough awareness has been raised, there will have already been too much blood spilled and injustice everywhere.
This is how I see it....The guys that REALLY run this place are smart enough to gauge the general intelligence of the populous. They use this to their advantage. By the time enough people realize anything, it will be too late.

Are you staying that inaction is the only action until violent action is the only action?
I am confused by your post. Yes, banging the gong of the police state isn't very useful but being concerned and involved is an important activity.
Your last paragraph rings very true to me. People can be very predictable on a large scale. But doing nothing and letting the people around you continue to stare at the floor is, in my opinion, irresponsible. I firmly believe that personal action, be it voting anti-incumbent or just challenging your friends to stop referring to the Colbert Report as a news source, can have an impact on the country as a whole.
I agree and I think you're right. I'm simply being selfish and using my time to suite me instead of the better of the nation because I don't believe my personal impact's worth outweighs anything substantial enough to care about it more than focusing on my own agenda in life. Maybe a higher calling for reform or something like that might come along some day, but for now, I focus on me.
Yes, I realize how that sounds and it's pretty much how it is. However, don't get that misconstrued with being selfish for selfish's sake. I would vote if I thought it wasn't a big joke. I'm no conspiracy theory buff but I certainly have my own beliefs on who runs this world and what politics mean what. And voting, doesn't mean jack to me. Hell, I'm from Florida if that tells you anything.
Also, I'll give another look into my beliefs so that you can better understand my point of view.
In the end, I believe, whats going to happen is going to happen no matter what. And it will be neither good nor bad. People will die as they always have. There will be change as there always have. We will grow as we always has. Everything will eventually be exactly as it should. The universe will always work itself out. Balance is not something that needs to be kept in check. It will always be in check. There will be those greedy for power. Likewise, there will always be those to cut them down in the name of justice. In the end, balance always finds a way to maintain and we are all part of it, doing our own part. Even by doing nothing, you do something. The very being of each and every one of us is a piece of a puzzle that maintains a balance. This is what I believe.
In other words, much better than mine; "Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it."

One person rarely ever changes anything. But when there are hundreds of thousands of "one person"s then things can change very fast.
Things must change if this nation is to exist much longer. People are loosing their rights left and right. If someone doesn't stand up now, then something will give, and the bloodshed will be worse then even the Civil War.
People never stand up united unless something drastic enough happens to unite them. It will take more than what has happened.

I agree, and I don't post expecting to change anyone's minds on the situation, but if I can at least get them looking, educating themselves, devoting five minutes to worrying about our future rather than chatting about who won American Idol, that's all I ask.
Just getting one person to give this a second thought rather than just obeying what you're told, is more than I could hope for.
Rome wasn't built in a day, knowledge is power etc.
I guess the new entertainment medias have brainwashed the population into submission and ignorance. Why would the government need to care about what they do right and wrong if the people don't care at all?

This was the thought I was driving at, that little ol' me may not be important on a cosmic scale but when I light a fire under one other person my importance has increased by proxy. I know that is the case! Even where I live, in a 'purple' state, I helped several apolitical people get involved in civics. I consider every critical thought I provoke as a smashing success. @Umpa, if your philosophy stems from critical evaluation and not just jaded rebellion, then I can only support your decision.
Anonymous Anybody?Remember July,30th 2011 take to the streets and the internet and post about Anonymous... lol. I completely agree with everything said so far in this thread. The United States government sucks. Plain and simple yet the way it is run prevents us from really doing anything without taking direct action. A congressman can say "I am for the people I will do this, this and this." yet he can win the election and do that, that, and that. They talk pleasingly to us then just fuck us all over in the end, and unless we take direct action such as storming congress and taking over our government ourselves. NOTHING will get done.
