In my persuit for the highest survivability i can afford i ended up having only around 32k dps unbuffed, and while i can basicaly oneshot everything on mp0 and stand in arcane beams, im strugling to kill anything fast on mp1 (and there i even have to dodge nasty stuff).
Im running totaly crit-less setup, having no +crit chance or +crit dmg whatsoever. Thus even getting shield or gloves with +10% crit chance wont boost my dps more than 1k. The highest dps upgrade (up to 10k) i can get is by starting using mojo. Those crit-less ones with high int/vita, high average dmg and even something nice (mana regen, skill boost, +total life) are affordable, and even thou i wont lose my hp, ill lose block, armor and resists.
Would you trade 1000 armor, block chance and 70 resists for 10k dps? I remind you, it would be over 30% dps increase for me.
I cant decide whether or not taking the risk, your experience?

I have a friend that did. If you can melt everything before they touch you all that armor is not needed. 1 acid rain and everything, including elites insta dies. That being said you are kinda limited to MP's where you can kill quickly as you cannot take damage very well.
Thing of the deep is the only offhand i'd consider for my WD.
Armor is not interesting in small ammounts, and as far as I know mainly just barbs used to go for it, not much any more though. Block ? You should not even be in melee range, so what do you want to block ? And all resists are only good for letting you stay in the fire longer, which you should not do in the first place.
Last but not least, IMO the WD, DH and wiz should have offense as their main defense. As Gangus said, if you can kill everything before it even reaches you, you have it easy. So I would go for DPS anytime.
Could you link your WD ? I can not imagine how you can have zero crit ^^
Like they said, if you are able to stay away from everything and avoid all the damaging stuff you probably don't need the shield but personally I think it's up to you if you feel like you want total survival mode keep the shield if you feel like risking it a bit go for the damage.

Sure, saying "if it cant get to you then it wont hurt you" is nice, BUT its lags, glitches, nasty combos (vortex, beams, frozen, waller... you get the idea) or surprises (lunatiiiiiiics) and disconects that kills. If i cant survive 1 second lag, it doesnt matter how fast i kill.
Btw block also negates ranged and resistance and armor generaly reduce incoming dmg, its not true its only for "melee" or "standing in fire"
Well, check my profile and let me know (all of you). (ignore my main and secondary atacks, im changing it and experimenting)

I have 61k Life (to your 87k) and +500 All Res (to your +750) (no lifesteal but some random life on kill) and I feel very comfortable doing MP1 (one or two gear upgrades and I feel like I can comfortably switch to MP2), never used a shield.
But then I never expected to stand in Arcane Beams for prolonged periods of time ... I used to play wizards so a slightly kite-y playstyle just feels natural, if there's stuff on the ground I move.
I'm fine with the risk of random desyncs/lag - if I were to desync while fighting an elite pack I would of course die but I haven't experienced a desync in at least 3 weeks (and never had a disconnect in the past several months).

actualy its around 1100 all res i have... and mp1 is comfortable, but not as fast as mp0. The problem i have is i cant move to mp2-3 without getting more dmg. But i tried to use Skorn i found (1,4k+ dps, ias, 300 int) to boost my dps a lot, but man i was taking serious beating. That shield does rly more than people think. Blocking off several mortars each valley, hearing blocking sound in arcane beam, getting hit by elite mongrel might atack during lag and it says "blocked" is simply priceless.
So my conlusion is no, i propably wont give up my shield. It simply belongs to HC. And ill get more dps eventualy.

It is one way to play, and yes you most probably dont die like that. But personally I would rather have some damage.
