Things to do in Diablo 3.
- Nice crafting and gem upgrading system. Recipe based
- Kill elites/champions packs for a guaranteed yellow after the first five
- Make a full clear of any act and get the same quality loot regardless of the zone
- Flexible skill system, that will translate in a ton of options w/o having to remake your character (When they balance the skills)
-PONIES !
-Auction House
Edit: Fixed it a little. I WON'T add RMAH to features cause' for me, it's the same as buying Diablo 2 loot in a shady chinese website. I won't add low level set items because between the terrible drop rate, and the poor stats, they are almost useless atm. Maybe they will fix them in a future patch
one of the things jay wilson said is you can get good loot anywhere ( probably meant in inferno) instead of doing mindless runs of same boss over and over again, ideally anywhere is a good place to go kill stuff ( this is in theory, the basic concept behind what he said).
also charms? waste of inventory, im glad they didnt do that. like jay said there are better ways to customize your character.
oh and a lot of people hated the pvp anywhere thing, just saying, it was only frustrating as a low level HC really.
This is the reason I feel making Inferno having a progression (and a HUGE curve for difficulty) was the biggest mistake they could've made in all development.
People can currently do all they could in D2 (search items for alts, search for legendaries, re-do quests) in Hell, but the only reason they don't is because Inferno is the next "big step" and most of them feel like if they aren't progressing into the "big numbers" they're stuck in the game. Everyone wants a piece of the pie (be it to get ready for PvP, to be able to show off to others, etc).
We don't go back to Hell also because of how ridiculously easy it becomes once you have half-decent Act 1 Inferno gear (due to the sheer scalability which is another major fail design-wise imho), nobody wants to go back to a "boring difficulty" (even though that's exactly what D2 was).
If Inferno was a flat difficulty, yes people would have beaten it weeks ago and would've complained how easy the game was, but those people are going to leave anyways in time, and at least we would've had all those things you mentioned we could do in D2, being able to farm the whole game and do whatever we wanted to.
I think you may have a point, but it has unfortunately been drowned out by your own hyperbole. I really hate it when people do that, because it gets the thread all tied up in a troll/counter-troll crapfest.
Let me try:
Diablo3's endgame involves finding better rares by picking the hardest Act you can handle, getting 5 stacks, then hunting down elites until you clear the place and/or get bored. The loot mechanics are fun and challenging (as much as they can be in this genre), but the rewards are bland.
Diablo2's endgame had terrible loot-hunting mechanics but with variable locations and much more interesting and varied rewards... particularly runestones and niche uniques.
Blizzard has definitely fixed the bad things about D2's endgame, but seems to have inexplicably tossed out some of the things that made it great. Although they rightly call runestones a kind of crafting, it is a kind of crafting with RNG-based materials and very predicitable results. D3's crafting has very predictable materials, but utterly random results... which is exactly the wrong way to do crafting. Moreover, D3's legendaries have very little personality, and are left to compete with rares solely based on stats... where they almost always lose. What Blizzard needs to do is make legendaries truly unique, not just slightly sub-par rares, and overhaul the crafting system so that it's more than just melting gold and crossing your fingers.

Put simply, it's D2 with all the bad (and some of the good) stripped out. It's classic Blizzard... refine, refine, refine... release... iterate. This is highly atypical, and is probably the cause of a lot of acrimony.
I'm a rogue customer, so I can't claim to be the single authoritative voice of the Customer-Overmind, but here's my two cents:
D3's best loot comes from what are, in effect, randomly-generated bosses that can appear anywhere. I greatly prefer this to D2's whack-a-boss.
Aside from loot, the reward for killing an elite is better loot from all subsequent elites. My superego tells me that this is a low Skinneresque trick to keep me playing, my id tells me that the superego is full of crap and wants to know where the next elite pack and please ignore the fact that I have work tomorrow.
I love the new skill system. Skill-points are an anachronism, especially in pseudo-singleplayer games. I fully expect the current generation of aRPGs to be the last that actually uses them. Stat-points I'm not so sure about... but even then, Path of Exile should be the go-to design for games that insist on having them. I hated D2's system, where the 'right' way to allocate points (i.e. best for endgame) was completely contrary to what felt obvious (i.e. best for right now).
The new potion system. FRJ spam was lame.
Those are the big things. Automatic gold pickup, large shared stash, upgraded followers are all nice, but hardly game-changers.
I'd really like to hear from Blizzard about why they ditched charms, why they left gambling in (who needs a gold-sink when there's an AH?) but ditched runewords/crafting, and why (by their own admission) they botched legendaries given that they had a good working model already.
I'd really like to hear from Blizzard about why they ditched charms,
I thought i explained that, they said it is '''not a fun way to customize your character''
i agree with a lot of what you said though, D3 is better in a lot of ways, whack a boss runs got boring, and the skill system is much better, anyone who cant see that is hating for the sake of hating.

Give me a break. You are way too hard on D3. The game is ONE MONTH OLD. How old is D2? For the love all that is holy...Blizzard is a company that knows what the players want, whether you want to admit it or not. They will fix/make things better over the coming months. I am positive they will. How about you stop complaining and just quit. Do us all a favor.
D3 crafting system suck so hard i can't believe it. It's almost worse then TL's enchanting bullshit.
They should just scrap all their stupid ideas and accept that D2 is the superior game when it come downs to fun secondary feature such as gamble, combining items and crafting. Actually crafting in D3 feels like a annoying way of gambling were you have to scrap items instead of using just gold right away. Useless, pointless steps between you and fun.
The itemisation in D3 is seriously inferior to D2's one. It's actually alot worse then the itemisation of B games like TQ...
WOW, how the hell did you remember all that stuff from D2.... I remember about 8-10 things in your list =D I did probly 90% of the stuff you mentiond tho..
In D3 I 5 stack NV and kill a boss, then I go search for random packs around the act......
"Wah wah wah I know the game has been out for only a month but because I'm so nostalgia stricken I'm going to compare it to a game that was released ~12 years ago and if it doesn't best it RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT...even though D2 had several patches to make it better, including an expansion, it SUCKS and I'm not going to play it!"

OP's 3rd sentence clearly asked people to not post what you posted. He's not bashing the game or blizz. Do us all a favor and L2read....
for the OP , to sum it all , you want best loots in no time right ? you wont have it , move over idiot
Uhh if he wanted best loots in no time he would just go to the RMAH...... hahahahaha. He and other CAN have it, IN NO TIME. don't omce in her and throw insults around please.

-Endless Andy Nm runs for SoJ's
- Endless Meph hell runs to get regular uniques.
-Endless Pindle Runs to get the best uniques.
-Baal runs for xp/ball kill for best uniques
These are all basically the same thing. Running a boss over and over for loot. You can do that with D3 too, funnily enough.
-Cow Runs for runes and moo's - Whimyshire is the same thing.
-Act 1 Pit
-Act 1 Countess for runes
-Act 2 Sewers
-Act 3 Lower Kurast chest runs
-Act 3 Kurast council for runes/loot
-Unique clearing in act V
Again, you're just listing stuff that you can do in D3. You've got 4 acts to clear for loot in D3 as well.
-Nihlathak runes
-Uber runs
-Search for Diablo clone
I've read about the ubers and admittedly, D3 does not have this. But neither did D2 at launch, so.
-Break every single chest in a tc 87+ area. - You can do this in D3...
-PvP in any part of the world in a 8 player game - PvP is coming in patch 1.1.
-Play with ridiculous and fun builds (Infinity sorc come to mind) - You can do this in D3, provided you don't go into Inferno (as D2 only went up to Hell as well: if D2 had Inferno, trust me, you wouldn't have all these 'wacky builds' floating around)
-Collect low level sets for alts (Sigon <3) - there are low level sets in D3 too, go ahead and collect those...
-Have fun having tons and tons of uniques (They where mostly useless if you where looking for the perfect one...but....hell..they dropped like hot candy). - there are tons of uniques in D3 too, and you don't even seem concerned with their quality, so you can go ahead and collect them in D3 as well
-Gamble for uniques/uber yellows - blacksmithing is the same system
-Gamble with horadric cube for charms
-CHARMS...CHARMS...OMG WHERE ARE THE CHARMS !
-Finding white socketed items for runewords (And finding the perfect ones)
-Socket and name your items
Not in D3, but this doesn't sound all that important to me, so whatever.
-Do meaningful, rewarding quest ( Ania's resistance quest come to mind...) - there's a bunch of sidequests in D3, and the story is better in D3, in that it actually exists.
-If you wanted too....clear the whole game within the same game - which you can do in D3...
-Low level uniques where used, you could farm for them in Nightmare... - again, can do this in D3. I used a unique/legendary on my low level Demon Hunter for about 10 levels.
If you're going to bash D3, at least don't appear so hopelessly one-sided and biased.
Things you could do in Diablo 2 (Post 1.10 patch) :
Patch 1.10 was released in October 2003. Diablo 2 came out in June 2000. Already, you're saying things you could do in Diablo 2 AFTER 3 YEARS is more than you can do in Diablo 3 after a month? Great start.
You did say post Patch 1.10 right? Because Patch 1.10 contains this:
Reduced drops from the most-run Super Unique monsters, Thresh Socket and Pindleskin.
If people back then were farming Pindleskin AFTER a loot nerf, that means people are still farming chests and clouds in 1.03, right?
-Play with ridiculous and fun builds (Infinity sorc come to mind)
Definition of "ridiculous and fun builds" is kinda different for everyone, but with the amount of choices you have in the game, it's pretty big for someone to try to do their own thing. in fact, here's a fun challenge, you go in the talent calculator, pick your spec, click the chat gem, get a random spec and go in Act 1.
-Gamble with horadric cube for charms
-CHARMS...CHARMS...OMG WHERE ARE THE CHARMS !
Protip: Charms were added in the expansion. They obviously had a reason for not adding them in D3, probably because they thought people would be compelled to carry 30+ charms on them. And considering everyone is carrying a MF set purely to open a chest, i tend to agree with them on this.
-Do meaningful, rewarding quest ( Ania's resistance quest come to mind...)
By meaningful quests, do you mean like Charsi's Imbue? When i learn how it worked, i hated myself for wasting it when i was new, and then i never used it ever again "waiting for the perfect item to imbue", or do you mean the personalization of an item? That i also never used ebcause i was keeping it for "That Perfect Runeword" which...never happened.
-If you wanted too....clear the whole game within the same game
What's preventing you from doing that now? Are you complaining about your 5 stacks of nephalem? Because when talk to the guy to get you to the next act, you dont leave your game, and manually pick the next act... You're in the same game...
Things you could do in Diablo 2 (Post 1.10 patch) :
-Endless Andy Nm runs for SoJ's
- Endless Meph hell runs to get regular uniques.
-Endless Pindle Runs to get the best uniques.
-Baal runs for xp/ball kill for best uniques
These are all basically the same thing. Running a boss over and over for loot. You can do that with D3 too, funnily enough. Except You need NV stacks to get the boss to drop loot that is worth anything
-Cow Runs for runes and moo's - Whimyshire is the same thing. Uhhhh its not the same at all??? There are no runes or cows?
-Act 1 Pit
-Act 1 Countess for runes
-Act 2 Sewers
-Act 3 Lower Kurast chest runs
-Act 3 Kurast council for runes/loot
-Unique clearing in act V
Again, you're just listing stuff that you can do in D3. You've got 4 acts to clear for loot in D3 as well. Those runs were specificaly done for the runes and chests
-Nihlathak runes
-Uber runs
-Search for Diablo clone
I've read about the ubers and admittedly, D3 does not have this. But neither did D2 at launch, so. You obviously didn't play d2 if you had to "read" about it.
-Break every single chest in a tc 87+ area. - You can do this in D3... But you will get NOTHING for breaking that stuff in D3
-PvP in any part of the world in a 8 player game - PvP is coming in patch 1.1. Should have been there @launch
-Play with ridiculous and fun builds (Infinity sorc come to mind) - You can do this in D3, provided you don't go into Inferno (as D2 only went up to Hell as well: if D2 had Inferno, trust me, you wouldn't have all these 'wacky builds' floating around) In D2 Hell was Inferno. But once you were lvl 70-80 you were advanced enough with your character to pown stuff. @ lvl 60 in D2 you couldn't do a wacky build. Also blizzard were the ones saying they wanted 28,000 viable builds in their game. If it's not viable in inferno its not viable......
-Collect low level sets for alts (Sigon <3) - there are low level sets in D3 too, go ahead and collect those... I agree here, I see no problem with this but you gata have an alt, and my main hasn't even beat'n the game yet so no alt yet, aka not colecting alt junk.
-Have fun having tons and tons of uniques (They where mostly useless if you where looking for the perfect one...but....hell..they dropped like hot candy). - there are tons of uniques in D3 too, and you don't even seem concerned with their quality, so you can go ahead and collect them in D3 as well GO ahead and collect them off the AH for 10x what they are worth??
-Gamble for uniques/uber yellows - blacksmithing is the same system NO..... No it is not, not even close...... You should go play D2 and so you can apear to know what you are talking about.
So if something isn't important to you it doesn't matter?? How bout them polar ice capps??? Charms, horadric cube, and runeswords were awsome!!!!
-Do meaningful, rewarding quest ( Ania's resistance quest come to mind...) - there's a bunch of sidequests in D3, and the story is better in D3, in that it actually exists. The story in D3 could be transplanted over the top of D2 and you wouldn't know the diffrence. 3 of the 4 acts in D3 came from D2. Instead of having you go to Hell for the last act(D2) in D3 you go to heaven.
-If you wanted too....clear the whole game within the same game - which you can do in D3... You dont know what the OP means, and neither do I...
-Low level uniques where used, you could farm for them in Nightmare... - again, can do this in D3. I used a unique/legendary on my low level Demon Hunter for about 10 levels.
Wow you found one of those? Or you bought it off the AH???
If you're going to bash D3, at least don't appear so hopelessly one-sided and biased.
If your going to try and bash on what a person think's or say's, at least KNOW what they are TALKING about...... /FAIL

I thought i explained that, they said it is '''not a fun way to customize your character''
i agree with a lot of what you said though, D3 is better in a lot of ways, whack a boss runs got boring, and the skill system is much better, anyone who cant see that is hating for the sake of hating.
I don't get the OP of this thread?
How is it good that d2 only had a few areas to farm and d3 has 4 complete acts?
Someone explain this to me, please?
PS: I've been having more fun with this game than any other game I've ever played.

In D3 I 5 stack NV and kill a boss, then I go search for random packs around the act......
yay so fun!!!!!... /end sarcasm
Uhh if he wanted best loots in no time he would just go to the RMAH...... hahahahaha. He and other CAN have it, IN NO TIME. don't omce in her and throw insults around please.
If you're going to bash D3, at least don't appear so hopelessly one-sided and biased.
Patch 1.10 was released in October 2003. Diablo 2 came out in June 2000. Already, you're saying things you could do in Diablo 2 AFTER 3 YEARS is more than you can do in Diablo 3 after a month? Great start.
It's not blizzard that dictated you cant farm Nightmare Butcher or Hell Azmodan. It's the players that pretty much says Inferno or GTFO.
This is the only point i could give you, i kinda wish there was a Cow King equivalent in Whimsyshire
How is that different that stating that you can do Act 1 runs, Act 2 runs, Act 3 runs and Act 4 runs in D3?
Again, this didn't exist anymore NEAR the launch of the game.
PvP is coming and going hostile was the worst mechanic possible, just sayin'
Definition of "ridiculous and fun builds" is kinda different for everyone, but with the amount of choices you have in the game, it's pretty big for someone to try to do their own thing. in fact, here's a fun challenge, you go in the talent calculator, pick your spec, click the chat gem, get a random spec and go in Act 1.
You can actually find patterns for craftable low level sets. Only found in Inferno. Farm and collect!
Protip: Charms were added in the expansion. They obviously had a reason for not adding them in D3, probably because they thought people would be compelled to carry 30+ charms on them. And considering everyone is carrying a MF set purely to open a chest, i tend to agree with them on this.
What's preventing you from doing that now? Are you complaining about your 5 stacks of nephalem? Because when talk to the guy to get you to the next act, you dont leave your game, and manually pick the next act... You're in the same game...
EDIT: DAMNIT Kisho beats me to it.
If your going to try and bash on what a person think's or say's, at least KNOW what they are TALKING about...... /FAIL
