So either harder content for better drop chance of the best gear or easier content for a lower drop chance of the best gear? I think the kill rate will make up for the drop chance loss unless they really perfected the math on it. I have a feeling people who are trying to get the best gear will just beat Act III and IV for the achieves then farm Act I and II forever, giving us less content (with the proper incentive) to farm.
Thats not how I read it at all
Then you didn't read it all
Even though the theoretical best items might come from the later Acts, well-rolled items from earlier acts will still be better.
Im especially worried about the fact that Blizzard is actually stating, on daily basis, that d3 will be super duper insanely hard game. This looks quite weird for me, but maybe they have their reasons for that.
Blizzard keeps saying thats its hard because of what you just typed. People have been saying since it was announced that it would be too easy, and blizzard caters to casuals. I belive them when they say, we will be getting our brains blasted out by inferno, specifically now, act 2-4
Blizzard also promised Cata launch would be hard because of all the crying in Wrath about casuals. Cata was a joke.

Indeed and it was hard.... well being a healer from level 82-85 on release week... then I got my first 85 blue and then it became cake.

im gonna repost my respons from this thread which i think is very important and what people dont see yet:
"well i love this change ! i really really hope it all will be true. act 3/4 exclusive to some sort of dedicated players. BUT I HAVE ONE CONERN !!!!! I think big concern. The economy is already destroyed with this change. Completely :/ Probably some group of players gonna drive whole market making millions ...
let me explain why. since max lvl you get on hell and it is lvl 60 then all the time any player will search for lvl 60 gear by any stat/dps they gonna get the best items from act 3 and 4 at top. that completly cuts the other hard working players who wont make it that fast. so the problem is - we need a lvl difference between those acts - like 60 - 61 or making some other string for search (like item lvl like in wow) to differes the gear !!!!"
Yah because so many people are going to be come millionaires from this game... sigh. "WTF I can't by all my end game shit the economy is broken". You have a lot to learn about economies sir.

lulz bashiok posted itll take "weeks" even for the super dedicated veterans to beat inferno. hes effing high. i give it 4-5 days before im 60 and itll take me a week at the MOST to beat inferno even if mobs can 1 shot you. they really overexaggerate the difficulty of these games and its just going to piss off the veterans when it comes out. a game labeled "hard" is only really considered that by the masses or unskilled gamers. WoW 25 man HC raids werent even hard and you only wiped because of idiocy so this wont be anything to write home about but i am glad that inferno goes up in difficulty though
So does this mean that you're gonna prove this wrong to us all here on the forum? I'd love you to!
yes i will. like this guy said. their games arent difficult for the veterans, its only difficult for the masses. pre-cata wasnt hard, and cata was a joke.
After going back and rereading it, I'm wondering what he means by this:
Official Blizzard Quote:
Longevity. We know people really want goals to work towards and challenges to overcome. We made Act III and Act IV really, really brutally hard, for the most elite players only. It felt wrong to make ALL of Inferno that brutally hard.
Does that mean they made the beginning of Inferno easier, the end harder, or both?
Previously, all of Inferno was level 61. Does that mean the beginning is, say, level 59 and the end is 61? It sounds like they lowered the difficulty of the beginning, which I don't really like. Then again, I hadn't played it on Inferno. Maybe everything being 61, even the beginning, was too impossibly hard. Who can say?
If they made the beginning 59 and the end 63 (for example) I'd be fine with that.

Haha, seriously you fan boys are still stuck on the "Inferno is serious business" line? Spit that hook out of your mouth already. It was all hype to get you pumped up about the game.

The first part will be easier, and the later part will either be the same or harder.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

It means that they probably made the first 2 acts easier then it was when all the acts had the same difficulty.
Which means more players will get the chance to experience it, for act 3 & 4 I'm guessing you will need to have very hard to achieve gear set up, which probably means a lot of farming for gems, as well as rare items with close to perfect random properties for your class.
I also think players will need to shift their focus to more of a defensive build/gear to actually make some headway.
Don't want to fuel the flames, but the cata example is just wrong. I was 85 on day 1 and there was no challenge (lots of fun thought) in any of the heroics (I was pugging and playing healer btw). When all the retards started to reach 85 (no offense intended) then it became hard to do them.
Yah because so many people are going to be come millionaires from this game... sigh. "WTF I can't by all my end game shit the economy is broken". You have a lot to learn about economies sir.
what is this response about ? maybe read my post again ... its not about making millions, if things get bad you wont be even able to sell any item if you wont get to those last acts... i think its not how AH and economy should work...
Here is a simple example, did you play wow? The market was not made up of ALL end game items they were just a small fraction. The main items will be nightmare and hell items for the "nubs" and possibly crafting materials. There will also be twinking items for PvP... the market as a whole is made up of many items not a small niche. Plus with the way the AH is designed you can always farm money to buy a high end item, granted it will take a while but it still can be done. I think you under estimate the term "veteran Diablo fan" if you reached hell mode and remade a few characters in D2 you are a veteran by comparison of the millions who never got passed normal mode.

I think your not understanding what he meant correctly.
What that quote you just linked says is, that the best items in the game come from the later acts. Period. But of course, well rolled items from earlier will be better than poorly rolled items from later in inferno.
Yes you need to add the 'than poorly rolled items" but thats obvisouly what he means.
You can get items in Act 1 or even Late hell that are better than items you get in act 4 inferno. Of course you can, but the best of the best, in other words the items with the highest potential come from only late inferno.
Thats what it says. Not sure why you arent reading it correctly. Bash, who is not above making small gramatical errors obviously should have typed "wll-rolled items from earlier acts CAN still be beter" .
THe fact that he said "theoretical best items come from later acts" sums it up. The items with the highest range, come from later acts. End of story.
well since the trigger happy mod locked my topic disgussing if it was a nerf or a buff, to force every single disgussion about it in a flooded topic, Ill just say I hope that the monsters got harder then orginially or its just a nerf... I hope atleast the last act is harder then the orginal.. or this is just a nerf.. and bad news.
Nuvian is far from trigger happy. He locked it because there was another topic discussing the change to Inferno - and it was literally RIGHT BELOW the one you created.
Edit: We don't need that many topics discussing the recent change to Inferno on the forum. There's really only a need for one - thus, his actions.
Edit 2: And just for future reference - if I remember right - you're not supposed to talk about any moderation in a public venue...I'm not sure if this counts for situations like this, but I thought I would tell you just in case. :3

what ? what ? what ?
wait, you comming with a wow example when end game items are bound ? really ? its like saying inferno items gonna be bound - then your example could be close to valid.
next thing how you can call hell items for twinks ? they probably gonna be lvl 60 also, probably from the last areas (if they didnt change it with this news).
next - its not WoW - in diablo with ah you will be always chasing best items. whats worst you even admit at the end that people will save money (or made them somehow) for end game items. and you saying that im wrong ? you just said the same.
People still have to level. There will always be an influx of new players. Said new players will want better gear while leveling - that way the experience is enjoyable. That was his point. How can you even ignore something like that?
I have very mixed feelings about this. Overall, I think I like the change but I also liked the previous rendition as well.
When you had flat difficulty, you were quite literally free to farm where you please. If Act II is your favorite spot in the entire game, farm Act II to your heart's content. If you liked Act IV, go for it! Everything gives you the same chances at getting the best stuff regardless of where you play.
However, now if you want the absolute best stuff possible, you have to now farm exclusively in Acts III and IV respectively (or so it would seem. Perhaps even limited to only Act IV). This puts a severe limit on the extreme players on where they can play to farm for the best stuff the game has to offer. In that regard, I'm somewhat disappointed.
On the other hand, once we reach level 60 and step foot into Inferno, we have a goal to work towards. Previously, the moment you can finish one Act, you would essentially be capable of finishing all Acts because of flat difficulty. Like Bash said, the final boss would be just as strong (or just as weak, whichever you prefer) as the first boss. According to their internal testing, this gave the endgame a bad feel that just didn't fit.
So, just taking queues from Bash's post. We can essentially break Inferno up into 2 seperate difficulties within itself. Early or Easy Inferno with Acts I and II and Lategame/Hard Inferno with Acts III and IV.
Overall, I agree with their decision and I look forward to getting my ass kicked in Inferno.
