Week 1 of the beta "Submit-A-Caption" contest (Which can currently be found here ) was mired in controversy. Certain groups felt cheated or disenfranchised by the nature or presentation of the contest. While I can't speak for, or even empathize with many of these groups, there is one such plea that has caught my attention and earned my respect.
For the first week of the contest, the diablofans community was given the following picture to edit in an original or entertaining way:
I won't speak to the legitimacy of the winner's submission (aside from saying that I really enjoyed it, and feel it was much better than my own submission. Congrats btw on winning!), as I was not a judge, and as such did not define or decide the criteria for success or victory. What I will speak to, however, is a certain submission that I personally felt should have been rewarded and recognized.
The following image, created by Gosukusan, required more time, effort, focus, and dedication than anything I have seen thus far:
Again, the "winners" of this contest are a completely arbitrary designation defined solely by the judgement of the forum mods. I won't say he should have won, but I will claim that this work is probably better than anything I will submit to this contest.
I can't with a clean conscious claim a prize for any future entry that might be less deserving than this man's submission. Therefore, I make this assurance to Gosukusan: I will be participating in each, weekly round of this contest. If any of my submissions win, I'm giving my beta key to you. I additionally invite anyone who shares my perspective to offer a similar assurance to Gosukusan.
Here are my current submissions for this week's contest. I will update them as I create more:
His work took (as stated by the OP) A LOT of time, focus, perseverance, creativity, among other good qualities that made that picture just... amazing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the contest was to make a funny picture, it wasn't about who put the most time, effort and creativity into their entry, if it was he probably would have won.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

exactly, if that was what the contest was, he would have won hands down, and as we said in the other thread, he was in the list for sure. But this wasn't about "who could spend the most time". The other picture just dealt with what was going on in the picture more than that one, which is why I at least, liked it more.
Not everyone is going to like the same ones..
Plus the OP's pic was one I already added so far =P

I have to agree that the winner of week 1 contest was legitimate. This thread is not about claiming Gosukusan "should have won". If you have intentions of using this thread as a medium to air your grievances toward the mods or their decision(s), I ask that you respectfully refrain from commenting.
This thread serves a single purpose: To gather people who enjoyed Gosukusan's work together in the hope of rewarding him for it.
I love your blinding flash picture and I think it will win. I would hate to see the great work you put in to go to someone(no matter how dedicated he was to the contest) who cried on a forum about how his submission was the best, how he deserved it more, and was mad when he didn't.
I'm sure the week one winners pic took all of 5 min, but it was funny. Gosukusan's pic was nice looking, that was it. The worst part was his rants on the week 2 page, he made himself look like a pretentious asshole. Keep your key if you win and show shitbags like him that they cant whine there way into things.
I've been trying to not touch this because the more I think about it and get involved, the more I'd stir up and cause drama. Dropkickme2300, you'd be mad too, in fact you seem pretty mad already.
It's very heart warming to see a member want to help another member. If you win I will make sure they key is forwarded to Gosukusan.
Lmfao!. Make that go for me too. <3 Grats on all our new valuable website traffic from these contests, btw. Do mods get a fraction of anything for modding? Or is your "job" as soul crushing as it appears to be right now.

No we do it 100% free, and we didnt get keys to make sure they go to you guys.
Sixen owns this right? He's probably making off like a bandit.
I honestly couldn't care less about the whole key situation, which is why I'm doing my best to not get involved regardless of who I think is right or wrong. I'll get my hands on the all-encompassing full game eventually, the beta is nothing and many will probably all get into an open beta to fool around for stress testing eventually anyways.
I'm curious though, back on the subject of what mods get, is it charming personalities like mine that make it all worthwhile at the end of the day?
Sixen does not own the website, cure does. Sixen is simply the admin for this site, along with many other curse sites.
What makes moding for this site is that its so much better (normally) than the none stop QQing/trolling that you see on the battle.net forum.
The OP is a perfect example of this. He thinks the other pic should have won.. but he's not throwing a fit, hes not crying about it, hes coming out and doing something about it, in a logical and respectful way. This is what I love seeing, and what makes being here worth it you know?

I couldn't agree more. I brows plenty of forums, and this place blows the rest of them out of the water as far as thoughtful and intelligent discussions go.
On topic - Way to go OP. I think I'll follow your lead and submit a picture for this guy. Soon as I can think of something funny.
OP, I do not share your sentiment for Gosukusan. The winning entry was very funny and witty much like your "blinding flash" submission for round 2. I'll be cheering for you unless I can think of something to compete against it.
+1 I totally agree with you. I took some of my arguments/ranting to some of the other threads regarding Gosukusan entry in the first beta contest. Some of the Mods were probably irritated and annoyed, and rightly so, by my "briliant" arguments/ranting...haha I also stated that he should get some sort of recognition for his entry. But I think this thread and your initiative will have to do!
I do not quite understand the Mods decisions but I do respect it. They have every right to give any beta key to anybody or any entry for that matter. And I admire your initiative towards Gosukusan. I'm not competing cause I'm from a far away land that can't participate. But if I would have won one of beta contests, it would be hard for me to give my beta key to someone else, so thank u for this!
Well as much as I did not think the actual winner was funny, it was still funnier than Gosukusan's submission. Gosukusan IS artsy I guess. Thats just my opinion.

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...
I just found this topic by accident while Googling my name for fun(I didn't even know it existed!). I apologize for necro'ing a dead thread, I just wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who had my back and enjoyed my submission so much. I worked ridiculously hard on it (as well as the ones I sent in the week after) and it feels good to know that there were some people out there who recognized and appreciated the effort I put in.
Really guys, even months later it just feels great to read this. So thanks again

Wish us luck
So you'll make sure he wins by default to make up for the controversy of last weeks contest?.
Conspiracy theories are FUN!
PS: Joking of course.
This picture is amazing. Just f*ckin lol.

He didn't win their contest; He won my contest.
Queue cheesy 80's music...

You can create a thread if you wanna know the specifics of why we mod or who owns the site.
