Kaivax posted that all of your D3 Characters all have access to the same gold you find across all your characters, doesn't this seem obviously flawed? I mean, you have a high level character with loads of gold, and create a new character, that character has the same amount of gold already available from lvl1. So really your new characters will have no reason to pick up gold, when you can get more from your other high lvl character. This doesn't seem right to me. sharing loot is one this but gold just makes it too easy.

Well when you think about it, in WoW if you had a high level character that had the guild mail perk then you could just instantly mail gold to your other characters. IMO blizzard is trying to reduce gold buying...being able to share money via characters doesn't seem like an issue to me.

nope, Loot = Gold
yea i know that but its not as easy as just sharing gold. i mean they want to increase the value of gold since D2's currency was basically useless. But now its tied to rmah, which gives it value but sharing it with your low lvl chars (keep in mind Diablo is not wow guys come one) it basically reduces the value back to its original D2 state bc you can buy anything you want from npcs. it's just takes the fun out of it
I do understand the need to make it accessible for all your characters for reasons of RMAH, but it just ruins all other in game npc purchases
Keep in mind that Blizzard is planning to have more ways for gold to leave the system than there were in Diablo 2. Artisans will be a big part of that, I think. The cost of services at a high level will likely be pretty steep. Additionally, the AH will be there, and you're going to want to buy either directly or indirectly for gold.
I think we need to be careful not to assume that everyone with a level 60 character is going to be walking around with more gold than they know what to do with.

You make a good point, just think though, The gold of a high level character is obviously worth more to a low level. you'll still have more than any low lvl could make, whether you can spare it or not.

it makes you do this, need some gold? jump on to your high lvl character and kill some high lvl monsters or do a quest. because why would you use your new guy to find bits of gold at a time? it just makes your new guy a little less fun. I really think it should be separate

I don't think that gold will drop in the same quantity of Diablo 2. Remember getting 6-10k on each member of the council? I doubt that'll happen often if at all in Diablo 3. Gold is exponentially more valuable and useful in that you need it for crafting and the AH and probably other things in game as well.

There's only so much gold can do, though. Gear is still level dependent, so a level 10 isn't going to have amazing gear with more gold, only the best level 10 gear available through NPCs. I'm not sure i really understand what the problem is. And new characters will always pick up gold, because gold is picked up automatically.
If you can share items what makes the difference if you can share gold? Say you share one sweet item from a high lve char to a low leve one. You could sell that for a ton of gold and now the low lve char is rich. This is how it is supposed to be and it dosen't make it less fun it makes it so when you have a high lve char you can make gold/loot for your next char faster. This is the diablo way.

Off topic, I was just wondering did they ever fix the duplication problem in D1? It was funny how easy it was. Drop item, walk away, click on item, pick up belt potion at same time. I'm just going to stop worrying, D3 will be good no matter what,

Isn't gold auto pickup now? I thought you just ran over it like health blobs and you picked it up with no need to click. If that's the case, it eliminates the "need" for the low level players to pick up gold at all, it happens automatically.
And you could easily share gold and items between characters in Diablo 2 as well, so how is this any different? I don't really see this as a problem, I see it as a way to avoid having to make games specifically to trade between your own characters and hope the server didn't go down while your items were sitting on the ground.
I think that everything will translate into gold at some level or another, I think the big question is going to be how fast does it get taken out of the system and how useful are the gold sinks going to be. It doesn't matter what character is doing it, it matters how well they balance the value of gold with what you can do with it. If it's too common and there's nothing useful to do with it, it'll become useless. If it's uncommon and there are tons of useful things to do, it'll be valuable and people will work hard for it and try to keep as much as possible. Which sounds like the way it should work to me.
As I see it your second character will obviously have access to the GOLD from the stash and won´t have to worry so much in looking for it.
But remember he/she can´t go spending "Willy Nilly " as there are level restrictions on certain items.
I have no qualms with the idea of shared GOLD from the stash. I guess you could say "How you get the gold,,.. is up to you"
In D3 you're characters are not separate, unless you want it to be.
I mean, the conquests in the game (achievements, banner, wealth) belongs to the player, not the character. Your banner, from exemple, will be the same no matter wich on eof your character you're playing.
Don't think a alt character is like "restarting" the game, because it's not and it's not suppose to be.
And, if you still don't like the idea, don't hsare gold among characters, then. I will be writing a couple WD guides for begniners and intermediates players, so i will not share items and gold (unless i wnat to test something) because i want to prove the sensation of leveling with different strategies.

Erm... in diablo 2 you just joined a game ,dropped your gold, logged into your new char, joined game and picked it up, its not logical not to have it all in 1 pot, and just cause you have some gold from before does that make getting more gold useless?(its automaticly picked up) and what do you mean it makes it to easy? its the items that make you powerful now the gold it self, its not exactly news that you have a shared stash, so you already have access to the items and the auction house on your new character.
If gold wasn't shared like this people would just xfer it some way. Or buy stuff and give it to alt characters.
You are worrying over nothing. Also, you don't "Pick up" gold in this game, you walk over it and it gets auto picked (Ala Torchlight) So if you are literally so lazy that you don't accidentally walk over gold because you already have some, I just don't know what to think of that. That's pretty lazy.
EDIT After merge:
SC/HC need to stay different no sharing of gold. Above stated opinion for SC to SC only.

I'm still puzzled by this thread.
