I personally prefer 1920 x 1200 as I have a large wide screen lcd. I know in SC, where they are worried about competitive edge it's important to keep the resolution the same, but do you think it will be adjustable in D3? I would like it if I could use my whole screen at max res.
I'll prob have to run the game on low-med at 1028x724 or something.
Stupid mistake i made... bought xbox360 instead of getting a better CPU for my 9800gt.

The nature of games made in 3D is that you can choose almost any resolution your heart desires. The screen shots from the FB "Like" goals we've been getting are in the highest resolution of any consumer monitor available, 2560 x 1600. So from the lowest, to the highest, they'll all be available.

Because of the StarCraft comment, I'm assuming everybody missed the point.
Are you talking about a higher resolution = actually expanding the field of view?
I doubt it. Of course, the dreaded wide screen will give you an advantage, but nothing beyond, I'm pretty sure of it. I wouldn't be fair in PvP, and it wouldn't be fair anywhere. The ability to target far beyond someone else's range is in my opinion broken, even by PvE standard.

Yeah, more field of view than resolution I suppose. My bad, SC2 does allow high resolution, but it doesn't effect the field of view.
Still don't understand where this obsession with high resolutions is coming from. I play on 1600x900 and don't wan't to go any higher because everything will be tiny.
I think OP wants to "zoom out" by increasing the resolutions which i dont think will work.

You will know when the BETA is released
Until then these questions will never be answered with fact, but mere speculation :/

2560 x 1600 is a sure thing, the recent screen shots are in that res. Now the question is do I wanna spend 1k on a 30in 2560 x 1600 monitor... Looking unlikely...

No need for speculation.
Just look at StarCraft II. It's exactly as it's going to be with Diablo III.
Then i'm going to be mad, I am making an eyefinity setup with 3 23in monitors all at 1920x1080, so thats 5760x1080 and currently when i try doing this with SC it doesn't work and only plays on one screen then duplicates the same screen on the others.

Well I wouldn't neccessarily say it'll be the same as SC2. Since SC2 is an e-sport its important that people don't have an advantage just because of monitor size, while D3 doesn't require that kind of balance. I don't know 5760x1080 though.

Gotta agree. I will buy a new monitor next monday, and it will be a 18,5" widescreen LED display. I could afford to buy a bigger one, but I don't need it. When you have a smaller display, it's easier to see at a glance what's happening on the screen. I think it's quite essential in fast-paced games like Diablo.
I've been using a 24" wide screen for a while now, it works well for games. I just like having a proper field of view, which I think is important to the fact of the utter caos which will be Diablo 3. Think about how cramped it might get with everyone spamming on all those monsters. I kind of think that since Diablo 3 isn't really a competative game you should have the option. There may be other ways to deal with PvP, which to me is secondary to the rest of the game.
completely untrue. There is a HUGE DIFFERENECE between 1080p on 60 incher than a 24 or 18.5 incher but you see that is because the pixels are stretched across more inches. If you triple monitor everything or even eyefinity 6 it you have a massive amount of resolution so stretiching the image will leave the pixel per inch in tact making everything much clearer while still stretching it. Thus causing more detail to smaller things that happen.
EX: Playing crysis 2 and a guys peeking around a corner but its very hard to see on your 24 inch cause everything's condensed and smaller, while on the 60 inch you might see him but it'll be blurrier and not as distinct, while on a 3 x 1920x1080p eyefinity setup you'll instantly notice him because hes not only clear like the 24 or 18 incher hes also bigger like the 60 incher. Resulting in a much better image for the player which is why I want to make an eyefinity setup so bad.

Why not spend $400 on a new 32" TV and hook it up to your PC? Save yourself $600 =)
simply put Resolution and PPI, With that resolution there is much much more PPI than a 32" at 1080p, which will result in a way better image on the 30 incher.

No, it must not.
Lol I'm just jokin' around, but playing at 2560 x 1600 would be nice!
