The affix and gear system in d3 is fine. It is also an improvement from d2.

    D2:
    1) No ilvl floor - Led to some really low level items dropping from high level monsters
    2) No affix floor - Led to some really low level affix appearing on high ilvl gear
    3) No TC brackets - Led to some good items being far rarer than intended and the idea that for item A, you have to farm mob B

    D3:
    1) ilvl brackets allow for 4% chance for the best gear to drop in act 1 (the easiest of the infernos). No longer do you have to kill hard monsters for the chance of the best gear.
    2) NV5 allows for a guaranteed rare(2 and increased drop quantity if boss) and +75 MF/GF for absolutely free
    3) MF affects rare affix level. This gives a huge incentive to work on that no switch MF set.

Yes you can get some bad rolls. You are also not guaranteed of an upgrade within a certain amount of time. But such is the grindy nature of diablo endgame. Its not meant to be fast. That's why inferno was originally intended to be an act 1 grind for ilvl61 items only. But after feedback, Blizzard relaxed their stance and let players go all the way to 63.

Its particularly hard to get an upgrade the more geared you are as well for obvious reasons. If you need to stack your odds you can join the UNID market as a buyer to increase your chances at rolling a good item. Alternatively you can sell UNIDs to acquire gold for guaranteed upgrades after saving up enough.

I hired help. Got a quick clear for 300k on US server by paying for it. Expensive but its worth it to skip the frustration.

The damn bots are raising their price! Currently rose to 0.19, its not that far from 0.25

Arbitage will limit the gold/RMAH price disparity for items though, I will personally not hesitate to buy up all the underpriced RMAH items and profit in the GAH assuming there is a stable exchange rate (currently there isn't as everyone is doing a wait and see)

Some of the gold seller's inv could be comprised of mainly stolen and prenerf bot gold. These may not intend stay long in the business after they clear out their stock, hence the very low prices. Those who want to stay in the business will now take into account the 0.25 ceiling for realistic profit, the potential uncertainties in securing inv and potential bans.

Its not certain by any means but I expect gold prices to rise slowly and stabalize at or slightly higher than minimum price.

The floor effectively limits to players from falling to match the bots so the minimum value for gold is now confirmed. I don't expect the bots to drop in price but it is possible that a surge in demand for legal gold could drive the price up. I parked several sell orders at a few price levels just in case the price starts to rise on RMAH

Edit: On US RMAH trades are going at minimum price (0.25), the average of the last 10 trades is 0.25 and if even one of those 10 are above 0.25, the average will be higher than 0.25. Gold is selling for minimum price atm.

The spread is large atm, and it can't stay that way. Something will give. The question is if the bots will rise, or the players will fall.

Edit: Tried to undercut and the floor by the automated AH is 0.25 per 100k. Meaning 2.5 USD / 1m GOLD. It is not possible to sell lower than this.

    The best thing ever. 1.03.

I full cleared act 1 a total of three times today and amassed the following

    1 BS Recipy
    4 Legenderies
    76 Rares of ilvl61 to ilvl63

Just like the old item hunting days back in LOD. This is fun.

Wiz is getting ready to faceroll act 1 and pass out gear to the other 4 alts. The happy farming is going to finally begin. Act 2-4 was too unfun, either due to repetition (like ghost/chest/goblin camping) or frustration (getting 1 shot too much). Farming act1 was sorta fun but only for armors/jewellery as ilvl61 wpns generally are vendor trash.

1.03 will herald a happy farming time in act 1 for me.

Assuming Blizzard is telling the truth and I see no reason to doubt them.

    1. Gold dupe is a lie
    2. They are aware of people resetting AH timers

There isn't going to be any bans for duping since it doesn't exist. AH timer bans are at the decision of Blizzard and any speculation/opinion we have is irrelevant.

    Blue Post Incoming!

We haven't deployed any hot fixes this evening. As far as we can tell the supposed exploit never worked, but we'll continue looking into it. Yes, changing the system clock can change auction times, but that doesnt dupe gold. It's pretty easy to see how much gold people have, and we have no indication anyone has/had that much.

I hope there isn't a rollback since it sets a bad precedent. When there are alternative options, we shouldn't be looking at rollbacks. After all, when do you stop? Rolling all the way back to May 15?

The guilty will pay the price. Anyone not involved in the exploit but profited from it through illegally obtained gold is simply fortunate. There will be no inflation considering how much virtual wealth will simply disappear with the banwaves.

This is what I suspect will happen

Query 1: All accounts that used this AH exploit. This is hereforth known as the banlist. List gets banhammered.

    Detailed clean up begins

Query 2: Sort banlist accounts by exploit frequency. Gold status. AH history. Trade history. Played with history.

IT team starts churning through accounts, separating the hardcore exploiters from the simple ones. If there is a need to trace laundered gold it is done here. They will know if you went out of your way to amass, trade, buy gear or launder that gold. Its all tied to your account and in easily searching data. Normal accounts will be done in 4-8 queries back, hardcore launderers will take longer but there's nowhere they can hide.

How can exploiting an AH timer by your system clock be the act of an innocent user? Its not something you do accidentally, especially more than once. A quick database search of auctions that were cancelled by this method would come out in a single search string and it certainly won't be 99.8% of the accounts!

Edit: Its likely they will track rather than reset. Its doable and they have the tools for it. Its just stored database info. The AH and trading will not need to be disabled. Just a team of IT people running queries on archived data to isolate which accounts have been exploiting. If they reset whenever there's a problem there's a terrible precedent and they will be more inclined to press that reset button again in the future.
