I played Hellgate closed beta. Far as I know you can play multiplayer free.
The paid-subscription allows you to create a guild, extra-bank slots, access to hard-mode with better loot.
Wikipedia:
There are two types of multiplayer accounts: free and subscription accounts. Subscribers have access to ongoing content updates, expected to be released every two or three months.[citation needed] The initial content updates will include more monsters, more weapons, additional item sets and special quests for ultimate items.
Additionally, subscribers have access to a Hardcore mode, special PvP arenas and a PvP ladder (once implemented), the ability to bypass server queues, a shared storage space with room for 40 items instead of 20, the ability to create guilds, the ability to achieve officer status in guilds, and 24-hour customer support.[14] Subscribers and non-subscribers will be able to interact in all ways in the game. Non-subscribers can join guilds, but not create them.[15] The level cap is set to 50 and up to 24 character slots are available for all players.
On another matter, I find strange how there is 3D interface in single player where you can see Raynor's full body interacting with the computers inside the Battlecruiser's bridge and engineering room. Makes you wonder if Starcraft 2 is a RTS/MMO hybrid.
Technically, they could. I mean you could play Starcraft RTS, or choose to play 3D Characters in battleground a la Starcraft: Ghost Multiplayer ... that would be cool.
I don't know how much I like the pay for special features option... I have never subscribed to play Hellgate: London and haven't felt that the extra features are worth it. I think the only feature I'd like is being able to create a guild...

Ooo... A RTS/FPS would be awesome! Being to play the individual character to, say, level them up. Even in the middle of a battle , to be able to zoom in and take direct control over a unit. Alot of different ways you could go with this...
This makes me wonder at what all could be done with the next Diablo...

Well I meant, like free gameplay RTS, and paid-subscription FPS/MMO mode.
Hmm, I just found a news I posted September 2007. .... see how Chris Sigaty plays innocent?
Gamasutra: I'm still wondering…is Blizzard going to make a single player, kind of third person experience? Because it seems that you could easily build something out of World of Warcraft single player, or something like that. You don’t have to say anything, I was just wondering.
[long silence]
Chris Sigaty: Crickets…
[laughter]
Frank Pearce: The challenge we always have, not just within the World of Warcraft team like I mentioned earlier, but organization wide, is that there's no shortage of great ideas, right? It's just utilizing the ideas we have the resources to achieve.
Has anyone looked back to before Starcraft II was announced to see what Blizzards reactions were to Starcraft questions? Or even before WoW? You know, its like when you watch a movie with a big twist in the end, and then you go back and watch it again to see where all the clues were...
I guess the same reaction like everytime, when a game is not announced yet "no comment". (And if the question is related to Diablo III, then you have to grin like shit as a employee :D)
As MedievalDrag. said, there are some marks about SC on the main page, and some news to come.
I'm pretty interrested what the news will bring, even if it sounds a little minor..
MedievalDragon, i caught you again. You edited
Who the fuck is barney?
What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
Again, disclaimer remains: this is not gospel. It's industry insider speculation. It may be incorrect, but I do hold firm that SG is a pretty solid source overall.
If it's correct it is, indeed, congruent with the idea of a WWI announcement. If they are playing the anniversary tip as well, then I think we're all in for a treat.
Otherwise, Blizzard will just bone us like they have in the past. Whoa, was that some pessimism creeping into my voice? How dare me.

I prefer to call it "realism", and you have every right to be so, since former speculations about the release of a third Diablo or even a patch or expansion have often (always, in the case of a DIII) proven entirely false concepts. But this time, eh, well, let's just hope it's decent.
I've got something that will cheer you up! Look at my cool new avatar!!!!!

Rofl. Don't worry. Back on 1996-1998 I think, I had just arrived to New York. I had to babysit the 3-year old baby of my cousin. I had to -- sighs -- watch Barney and Mr. Rogers to keep him at bay from causing a ruckus in the house.
On another note, I got forwarded to a Diablo Team contact around 8pm. I will update if something may be shared. Asked about the patch, BlizzCast 3 and a "possible" standalone Q&A. =)
Nothing is final. Just keeping you in the loop as things progress. Also 25% of the donation goal has been reached. Things look good so far. One of my contacts is back in town, and I asked .... I am still waiting on updates about my flight ticket and hotel accomodations. At least it's now in motion. Once I get my tickets I can use some of the donation fund to acquire a passport.
The job interview this past saturday went "meh". Will keep looking. If anyone here got a job for me in New York City, hey throw me a PM.

I did a search on Mr. Rogers thinking to make a smart ass comment about him being a Vietnam sniper with tattoos up and down his arms. But that was just a myth! He always was a nice old man! I guess you learn something new everyday...

Mr. Rogers was a very nice guy. I felt a sense of loss when I heard he died. I saw more Mr. Rogers shows than I had wished to ... babysitting sucks sometimes ... but I enjoyed watching him while keeping watch on my cousin. My cousin loved to watch that show too. I'm age 35 by the way.
