The first time that I wached this movie, I was 8 years old. I almost shit my pants! I made this thread, because I want to know what were your reactions to this movie the first time you seen it. And if you want to had more information go right ahead, I will add more of my stuff in gradualy.

It was hard for me to follow the plot when I watched it for the first time. But when I got a little older I watched it again and still feel it's one of the classics.

"Pking in Softcore, is like two deaf kids yelling at each other."
i love the movie now, but hated it as a kid. always thought that grl would come bridge walking down my stairs and kill me. lol.
chucky also freaked me out. idk y, but i think it was cuz i had a stuffed animal that looked like him, and the thought of it being alive to hurt me was a little nerving. hehe. threw him away after watching it.
Me and my uncle watched it together, (we watch every movie together).
He was laughing while watching and i was blinking at half the normal rate.
but yeah i was frightened of opening doors, and stilll am a bit, hehe.
Not much horror after ending.
I liked the way she was running down the stairs.

The first time I saw it - I was babysitting my little bro and he kept begging me to turn it to something else - so I'd flip back and forth.
I just remember laughing through most of it. Then shortly after that - I watched it all the way through in the dark - and I did get a little scared.:D

Many people killed themselves after watching this movie. I heard that they taught they were going crazy or something. In addition, Bible sails went up 220% after this movie so I guess it was a big impact!

Shame on me. I haven't seen the movie. Not yet at least. I really should see it some time, just because it's a classic.
I don't like horror movies much though. Not because they're scary, but rather because they're most of the time either generic and boring or amusingly terrible (which has a charm in itself, but it isn't exactly the effect you're looking for).
I must admit I'm quite easily scared though. . . just not often by films.
What's even worse is that I haven't even seen the Godfather yet. . .

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
The exorcist didnt scare me as much as pin head did (Hellraiser). when I was little, I didnt even want to go into the section of the store that had his movie there. Serious, didnt even want to look at the cover.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
I actually saw Exorcist III first.. liked it.. didn't find it too-too scary.. until near the end.
Those eyes... lol
So yeah I rented I and II.
II was lame.. first one was great, scary.. It's definatly a classic but it didnt scare me enough to give me nightmares... Now if I was younger at the time it would've.. lol.

ya, thats how most movies are. plus, most of them today are just gory or suspense thrillers. back then, they were genuinely scary, i believe. i remember that as i got older, i would always say that if, for example, that possesed girl cam into my room, i'd fight her. lol. just tried to psych myself up after watching it. that was like when i was 10 or 11.
haha great thread. i watched it when i was like 12 or 13 with two friends and yeah it scared the crap outta me. when the mom looks up the stairs and yells... 2 seconds later i was in between my two friends on the couch freaked out haha. i think its time for a rewatch...
Was the exorcist walk down the stairs scene supposed to have blood coming out of her mouth in the original?
I don't remember seeing blood coming out of her mouth when I seen it, but then I watched a clip on youtube and she was coming down the stairs, then it went to a scene with blood oozing out.
