I read the lore on Cain, and I found it kind of strange how self-lothing Cain seems throughout the entire journal. Assuming that the journal was a personal one and not meant to be read by anyone, I would say it does not support my idea. But if it was meant to be read, then it could be a thought out piece of mis-information meant to conceal his demonic roots.
Again, I'm just playing the devil's advocate here because I think that a cinametic where Cain goes from a hunchbacked old man with a cane (no pun intended) to a badass demon would be intense!
I honestly don't think that a personal journal would be mis-information... just doesn't seem feasible to me. But I gotta agree the scene you described would be intense.

I meant that if it WAS a personal journal, it WOULDN'T support my idea.
However if it was meant to be found and read, then it could be mis-information.

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
I don't know who it was, but the most interesting and well-developed theory I heard hear was that Belial, The Lord of Lies, has been impersonating this "Deckard Cain" from the start, either for his own ends or in secret service to the Prime Evils (as most seem to believe that the Prime Evils planned their soulstone entrapment and exile from Hell). Also, both Cain and Belial have Hebraic roots in Myth.
I just don't see it man... But you've got a really good argument.

Good thing it's just my idea and not me. I'd really hate to be grouped in with those retards that make nonconstructive comments.
On Topic-
Azmodan is the Lord of Sin
Cain from Cain and Abel can be considered the first mortal sinner for killing Abel.
Also, Azmodan has already shown that he does not support Diablo by throwing him out of Hell along with the rest of the Prime Evils, and Cain refelcts this same disdain for Diablo.

Again it's possible. But of course Cain is going to despise Diablo, he's human. I imagine any human would share his same disdain. Comparing Azmodan to Cain is a little extreme just because they both have problems with him. As for the whole biblical connection... I HOPE they don't go down that path.

Incorrect. In the Bible, or Hebrew mythology (depending on the language your more comfortable with) Cain was the first murderer. The first sinners weren, in fact, Adam and Eve (along with every other human), causing the fall, etc. Though, through an un-informed assumption, Blizz very well could have taken the route you just suggested.
I still prefer that, if Deckard Cain caused all this through his lies, then it would be the Lord of Lies behind him, especially since, as I just stated, Belial and Cain are both Hebraically rooted names.
I said mortal sinner. Murder is a sin and neither Adam nor Eve were mortal when they were banished.
I understand, but I'm saying that's a very un-informed interpretation of the text. By the time Adam and Eve fell, all humans were sinners. They sinned in many ways. The first Murder was simply the most dramatic that occured.
Jazz - I'm not saying this theory is correct, but you have to admit it's interesting. I'm not trying to indicate that Cain MADE everything happen, but he's always there...helping...providing information...assumedly to one end or another. Information. Lies? Or, at the very least, perhaps fueld by Lies...from the Lord of Lies...
Another interesting tidbit, from the Wiki entry for Dante's Divine Comedy: In the 9th circle of hell there are four coencentric zones, Round 1: Caïna, named for Cain, is home to traitors to their kindred. The souls here are immersed in the ice up to their necks. (Canto XXXII).
For Cain could be considered the first major traitor to his own kind.
Cain can't possibly be one of the evils. He was in Sanctuary when the evils were in Hell throwing Diablo and the primes out wasn't he?
No, that was shortly after (or during) the Sin War, I think. Cain only has the age of a regular human being- he briefly describes his childhood in his journal on Diablo3.com.
Cain is a horadrim, very noble people.
Cain is not responsible for the worldstone destruction, Baal and Tyrael are.
Cain did not push you forward, he merely tagged along incase you needed information.
Happy? I used logic instead of flame.
Untill you maybe explain some more of your theory then maybe I will reconsider.
1) Cain is the only person to varify his connection with the horadrim (he might be the reason for their fading in the first place, that would leave him in a position to claim the be the last one)
2) Cain was the one guiding the Hero to kill Baal and assuming he knew Tyrael (which he would if he were a demon) he would have known Tyrael's instinct would be to destroy the corrupted Worldstone
3) Cain was the one to push the Hero to do the final quest in each Act (i.e. kill Andy, Duriel, Meph, D, Baal) and so had control over the situation and how things unfolded
EDIT: spelling and some info

Can anyone please clarify this. Wasn't Cain alive in Sanctuary while the civil war in hell was going on?
Or was that much earlier before he was even born?
Hm... Wasn't the Sin War like 2,000 years before the events at Tristram? Is the Sin War the same as the civil war in Hell?
And for clarification on the Horadrim part, the Horadrim was just a group of diverse mages/magi. The actual mages/magi in it were the basic Vizjeri/Taan/Ennead/etc.
1. makes sense considering he claims to be the last one. But he is a descendent of Jared cain who imprisoned Diablo in the soulstone
2. It is better for evil to have the world stone corrupt then to have it destroyed, therefore cain would not want tyrael to destroy it.
3. But the evils were terrorizing everybody, If the hero didn't kill them they would have ruled sanctuary, the hero had no choice but to persue.

Yeah I mean the Sin War... I dunno where I got the number I've just heard it a few times.
