posted a message on The ol' Map Hack.
Does anyone know if the Map Hack has officially been worked out of the game (banning all users). I haven't played in years. Back then, I never ran across anyone without it...mainly because it's just annoying to have to walk to every corner and spot to map it. And yes, I am OCD. It's not like I can't play without it, but if I get back in the game it'd be useful infos to not touch the stuff just like any other cheat. It just didn't seem like Blizz cared back in the day...

Well they could always call it a Shaman, but people will still associate it with WoW and Witchdoctor is more fitting anyway.

For reals. What's with all the 'Shaman' talk when people want it to be LESS like WoW? No...Witch Doctor is inspired by real folk legends and archetypes. Just like he knows the ways of the body, he knows the ways to kill...master of diseases. Also, he's witchy, dealing in the demonic...summoning creatures. And finally, crazy witchy firepower. Fireballs. Three trees, whatever you wanna call it.

I don't see it that way. Especially the "know what the eff you're doing" part. It seems like any one with a keyboard and a face can play this game. Don't get me wrong, I love D2, but with the advancements made in RPG gameplay it would be inexcusable to not update spell-casting to have some strategic or tactical component to it or else we will just end up with keys stuck in our noses again.

EDIT: I think I left the "serious" part of the discussion at the door with this post. Excuse me, it's late ^_^

Play Hardcore D2...when your death counts for something. Few other RPGs require as much real-time skill and still work.

Strange idea just popped into my head. Maybe Baal corrupted the worldstone so it would have a different effect. Instead of dampening the powers of human and keeping them from reaching their potential, it would have alowed them full access to their powers, and it would have changed them into demons that the Prime's could have used.

Kind of a moot point, however, since it was immediately destroyed. Whatever the effects of it bewing corrupted would have been...there would be no way of knowing.

Cast time systems automatically = balancing work for the game to allow it to be usable (especially in single player play). In an overwhelming madhouse of power and combat like Diablo...it's just going to cause endless amounts of issues. This isn't a "wait and see" sort of action game. This is a know what the eff you're doing or die (preferrably asap) sort of rpg.

This could certainl imply something about the World in D3 we don't know about yet...or it could simply just be Angels, Monsters, and Demons, that's what you're adventuring in. Something

Ah, didn't see that. I think the Tyrael is corrupted is a leap in interpratation, though. Not that is isn't true...but I'm not necessarily ascribing to it. "Leah" and Cain looked startled, but they would've stood no chance against an evil Tyrael...

Alright, according to D2, Baal corrupted the Worldstone. Perhaps by doing this he was able to put the spirits of the Prime Evils inside or atleast Diablo's. So when the Worldstone was broken it released the essence of Diablo or perhaps created a new soulstone for him.

The only Prime Evil's soul Baal had access to was his own. Diablo and Mephisto's were alread sent back to their birthing Abyss prior to Act V at the end of Act IV in D2.

posted a message on Act 4 Corrupted Tyrael End Boss
I haven't seen a lot of discussion pointing to Tyrael as the meteor...a couple of posts here and there...but from my perspective, I think there might be a strong chance that "meteor" crashing was, in fact, Tyrael himself. If you look at it, I don't think the meteor looks all that big...and although it's red, it almost looks like there's his trademark tendril wings waving from the ball. Furthermore, right after the meteor something crashes through the roof of the church or whatever that "Leah" and Cain are in, and both are startled.

I'm not, personally, convinced the huge demon's entrance was the meteor. The crashing through the roof bit I thought was implied Tyrael was coming to warn Cain and "Leah", and as part of the story of D3 has been stated to explore where Tyrael has been all this time...perhaps somewhere far off he traveled in a quick, unothordox manner from to warn of this new and/or resurrected evil?

All of this relates to the Evils and Angels, so they are relevant to the discussion.

And all of your info is understood to have been stated, but the question is by who and if this is reliable enough to discount the idea that Cain is not who he says he is. If I was taking all the info presented as fact there would be no argument. It is just that most of that information is not "history" but rather Cain's story that he recants.

Exactly. And my point was The Lord of Lies would, intrinsically, be extraodinarily effective at...lying...either TO Cain, THROUGH Cain, or AS Cain...

posted a message on 5 Classes?
I've seen all the discussion on speculation over the remaining classes of the 5, but in Joystiq.com's interview with the lead designer, Jay Wilson, he didn't sound too committed to any particular number like the faq.

You mentioned two classes today ... can you tell us how many you plan to have in the final game?

No. Several more, but I can't tell you precisely. [Ed: The FAQ currently lists the the number at 5.]

The good news? 5 is not set in stone. Who knows, maybe we'll even see 6.

posted a message on Latest storyline info...
The 20 year gap could simply be due the brothers or another evil breaking free from their birthing place, the Abyss, and trouncing all over the Lessers civil war...or the Lessers were too weak to invade and had to build up strength...or were biding their time as this older/new player demon makes his move onto the scene.

    Quote from "JAZZ" »
    1. makes sense considering he claims to be the last one. But he is a descendent of Jared cain who imprisoned Diablo in the soulstone
    2. It is better for evil to have the world stone corrupt then to have it destroyed, therefore cain would not want tyrael to destroy it.
    3. But the evils were terrorizing everybody, If the hero didn't kill them they would have ruled sanctuary, the hero had no choice but to persue.

What "evil" is having the World Stone corrupt better for? Mind you, the official story is that the Lesser evils Azomdan and Belial wanted to fight Heaven directly, whereas the Prime Evils wished to corrupt man...thus the Primes exile (the unoffiicial story being that the Primes wished to be Exiled to work more directly with man). Then again, we haven't the slightest clue, exactly, what all a corrupt and/or broken Worldstone even does.

posted a message on Interpretation of the Splash Screen/Demon
I find it extraordinarly interesting that the Demon/announcement for Diablo III emerged from ice...and that the main demon we saw in the trailer had three heads, conjecture whether that is Diablo or some other Satan inspired demon aside.

Meaning? From the Wiki entry for Dante's Divine Comedy (an exploration of the 9 levels of Hell)...

"Condemned to the very center of hell for committing the ultimate sin (treachery against God) is Satan, who has three faces [...] He is waist deep in ice, and beats his six wings as if trying to escape, but the icy wind that emanates only further ensures his imprisonment (as well as that of the others in the ring)."

Were this "Diablo Demon" trapped in the Diablo world's "Abyss", Blizz taking a cue from Satan's entrapment being in a lake of ice makes a lot of sense...except he breaks free. In Diablo 3. Dun dun dunnnnn.
