So, I had the trial offer disc for WoW sitting around since I got the Battle Chest those many moons ago, and decided, with a little arm twisting from a friend, to download it and give it a try.
For the first day it sat there and downloaded for a total of at least 12 hours. My wife called me at work Monday night to tell me it was still working but not moving much. I told her to uninstall it and delete all the files. Today I go into the Blizzard account, and there it is! I double click it and it took 5 minutes to dl. I was a little ticked.
I started to play it, not going to buy it just doing the trial, and have no idea what the heck I'm doing. Anyone here ever play it and could give me some pointers?

Yeah, it is a fun game. The tutorials are really helpful when you first start. I suggest doin skinning/mining for your first jobs. They are easy and straight forward. When you get to the first town just ask a guard where the profession trainers are. And you are goin to love the game once you do your first instance.

I know the feeling. I just started playing WoW about six months ago. I don't make a habit mentioning on these forums for fear of being stoned to death I was one of those people too that swore I would never play it, thought people that did were losers and just all in all hated it.
I bought WC3 and it came with a trial disk and also some friends started playing it. I thought, what the hell if 10 million people play it it has to be good. Now here I am a level 65 human warlock, starting Burning Crusade and going to buy Wrath of the Lich King. I can't believe how much people hate it on here, it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played.
Anyways Nektu, if you listen to the advice of all of these guys that's pretty much all you have to do; quests and level. If you are considering getting the full version, I would also recommend saving materials to sell at the auction house since that will help build up a nice gold base for you.
Honestly, you don't need to give away your life either to play. I play maybe two three times a week, sometimes only for a few hours. I play with friends here and there, but mostly play on my own. I've thought about joining a guild but I'm unsure. My warlock is Dsquared, by the way. Thinking of doing a hunter next.
Bought it a year after it came out after playing once at my friends, installed it pretty quickly...played it a bit and enjoyed it to start....then I got bored. I was bored of the game within 2 weeks, it was just simply way to slow, way to hit for hit, and I had to fight with myself to even turn the game on haha, then when I got in the game I would just sit there bored.
If you enjoy PvM sure you could enjoy it, but as far as PvP goes...WoW is horrid at best.
Even as far as PvM I didn't really like it. Had like a thousand demo things from all the battle chests I bought for DII Although, lots of people like it out there so I'm not going to... hate against them for liking it or not. It's just not for me.
I did like it for other reasons, but they're kind of sad, and so I won't mention them
Or, to quote a friend of mine: "I don't like people who play WoW casually. If you play it you should damn well play it seriously." Which means either high-end raiding or PvPing
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

No such thing as hardcore raiding anymore lol. And im not saying that because gear is so easy to get either.....its cuz the raids are crazy easy now even for morons PVP tho can be hardcore if your gonna try to be some of the best
I play a couple hours a day on my new toon when I have time but my char is usually inactive for 2-3 days at a time. I'm almost always at 2x exp from accumulated rest. Seriously though leveling sucks balls. The game only gets good once you hit max level and start playing arena. Least that's what I enjoy.

I'm on the Alliance side of the Bleeding Hollow Realm. I'm playing a Night Elf, IGM-Nektu.
I haven't gotten to the point of forsaking family or work for the game yet. So there still may be hope for me yet.

I haven't heard from my cousin Kieran since the game came out, I shit you not.
The guy just dropped off the face of the planet.
Btw, if you want a less addictive, more casual MMORPG, try out Guild Wars. It's pretty badass.
Sorry to hear about your cousin. Did they send a search party for him?
I do play Guild Wars, Nightfall. IGM-Verattu Nektu.

I would also recommend the official site http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml if you are wondering what types of builds you want or just general info. You can respec too, so no worries. WoW Wiki is also really good for if you get stuck on quests http://www.wowwiki.com/Portal:Main and WoW head is basically a database of items and where to get them http://www.wowhead.com/
