Okay guys. It's obvious that there are some conflicted views on this issue. I, for one, would like it cleared up as soon as possible. The question is simple... Should there be a new moderator (or moderators) and if yes, who should they be?
Please choose yes or no above, or if you really can't decide, pick maybe. Also - if you answered yes, post who you think should take on the duties. (Remember, you can choose more than one!)
I voted yes, and am going to nominate AcidReign for the position of Moderator.
voted yes too. Its pretty obvious that the forum needs more control. Especially to stop the unnecessary flaming. I'd suggest Mutton whos also up for the job too.

I am very appreciative of the nomination!
There are very obvious conflicts going on in these forums as of late, and I believe there are many loyal and trustworthy members here that could handle them. Just choosing one is a hard decision.
I think the new moderator(s) should already have experience and know what spam, flames, links, bots, etc. to get rid of. Most of it can be done by many of our members but I've seen a lot of moderators on other forumers who have no idea how to end a flame war and just make it worse by taking sides or mass-banning.
PhrozenDragon gets my vote, Sianoq would be good too.
though i think that when the site grows a little more, we good have mods who moderate specific areas of this forum. say 1 or 2 mods for philosphica discussions, 1 for Diablo lore (namely Solomir) 2 or 3 for general discussion. and Silver and I as super mods. just an idea i thought id throw it out there.

I still think mutton would be good, as well as Acidreign. Phrozen would do a good job except that he's moving back to Sweden and isn't sure how often he'll be on this forum once he's back.
My question is, is if you become a moderator, are you given access to the sections that allow you to delet/close threads? And if someone is blatantly flaming/trolling, what are the typical actions a mod or admin would take against them? The other forum I'm on, I see people banned. But that was usually after that user received several warnings first.
The moderators' interface includes ban, delete, sticky, etc. buttons.
If the forum doesn't specify punishments in some sort of Code of Conduct, the punishments should be up to the moderators. I usually give out warnings for spamming and flaming. Permaban anyone who joined only to post an advertisement thread (except if you see the advert fit) and any one who posts porn. A second offense after a warning would usually get a week or a month ban and then finally, a permaban. For rare occasions, it would be ideal to IP ban (making sure banned forumers don't come back as "smurfs" unless they have a proxy or whatever) But the admin may be the only ones who can permaban - I've never moderated vBulletin.
Sometimes I give a one day "cool-down" ban in place of a warning if the forumer has been spamming all over the place - usually getting dozens of spam/flame posts the first day.

once you are made a mod you can edit/delete/move/stick/unstick/close posts/threads in all areas except for the areas only for admins or people with more rights than you have.
we do give warnings but most ofthe bannings are for people who come on flame the hell out of everyone they can posts absolute crap no one wants to read then in some case leave after. we ban them to stop them returning.
generally people arent to bad o nthis forum, they might get into a pretty heated discussion with someone or some people but its usally only in the one thread, which is mostly of a philosophical nature so its bound to attract some disagreement. but no people arent to bad here, ive seen worse, way worse.

For experience i'll say Carloseus.

I voted maybe, and mainly that because I do not really know what would be expected of a moderator at this time. There should definately be some form of official rules compiled first (probably by Umaro), and some extra defense at registration to prevent bots from posting.
Start by clearing out needles junk and establishing the parameters, then hire the people to clean up what remains after that
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

this is going to be tough, but i think i would make a good nominee if not mod. i come to the site just about every hour even if i dont post, and i try to enforce the no spamming in regular threads. for proof, check the SLAYERS thread. i dont want to say im all that, but i think that mod should go to someone that participates alot in the forum, so that we dont have them absent when we need them.
I participate a lot xD I, though, don't go to the SLAYERS thread, or the clan thread or w/e (still confused about all of that clan stuff) But most people here probably don't think I diserve mod anyways, and I don't really want to *shrug* I wasn't at the forums here for quite awhile onetime so meh. Might be dangerous anyways. RAWR
