So I have pretty high strength which equates to over 4000% increased damage, my attack speed is 1.85 I believe and my weapons are over 1000dps so why is my actual dps not adding up? I realise this is probably obvious to some of you, but I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Diablo's stats.
kortiah thats is absolutetly not the issue here he got around 230% crit dmg so its fine the main issue is that he got only 23% crit chance which drops your dps insanely you need to increase your crit chance to 40-45% thats the issue here you barely landing critical hits and it ruins your crit dmg which is just fine always can go higher but with every 5 hits you land a crit the crit dmg just doesnt affective you at all
4000% from your weps now they are doing 640 to 870 dmg so you basicly got 750 dmg add 4000% to that you get 30k per hit which is nothing what you do need is the crit chance if you had around 45% every crit with your crit dmg will do around 90k every second hit which is significtly higher this is only the normal hits without your skills of course! now basicly what i would of done is look for items with crit chance and lose vit or str for that stat to get to 45% at least otherwise will be stuck at 120k dps all the time for example my monk is packing dual wielding with one wep 1200 dps other 900 dps but the 900 gives me 17% lightning dmg for skills and 9% dmg as lightning with 42% crit chance and 300% crit dmg i got 179k dps but im doing 2.2m crits because i got lightning dmg build i got 37% lighting skill dmg so it works out great for me im rampaging through torment 4
Thanks for the replies guys it makes more sense, I'm going to look into changing some things around. I got carried away with the new legendaries, I'm going to have a look on the auction house.
you dont need auction house get used to working without it otherwise gonna have hard time in the game craft some items like gloves your doesnt have crit chance

My gloves have 6% crit chance. I was more swayed by almost 500 Strength and Vit. I got so many high mainstat roles I just got a bit equip happy.
I've been using Skorn for a long time with 180% crit damage, but the Thunderfury is cool so I felt like a change.
thunder fury is amazing! my monk owning because of it but you need to decide on what you are building and what you are bulding around it like my monk i decided to go lightning dmg with chain lightning so i got thunderfury and fists of thunder with chain lightning i got lashing tail with stun and i got shit load of hp per second with 160 hp per spirit spent so i focused my items around this of course i figured this build after phew items and expermenting but now i can farm torment 4 ez and i can go 5-6 once i get more all resis gems to conclusion find what you love this is the entire point of 2.0.1 i love lightning dmg with chain lightning so it worked out wonderful for me just play around with builds and find what you like if i were you with thunderfury i would use frenzy to proc chain lightning from thunderfury and work around it
50% crit chance, 400% crit damage will increase your DPS by about 200%. That's 3 times your dps. It's the reason why those stats are so desireable, because together they scale too well.
I did some switching around. I'm still not too happy and will keep trying to up crit, but I found a Stone of Jordan a few days and nearly gave it away because I thought it was useless. Now I have 35% increased physical damage and 55% damage against elites, would this be more viable than going for more crit? I haven't tested yet, I believe the SOD may be pretty good, but again I'm not sure.

For some reason it wasn't showing crit chance yesterday, I now realise this is probably the reason, but that still doesn't explain the 4000% business.
