You guys are kind of missing that the main patch change will be monster densities, which while testing probably is needed, probably isn't game breaking and could be done in the live environment, albeit with a load of complaints from people about paying to beta test the game.
Now now, don't remind people there are other changes involved. This whole patch is only about ID all. And also there could never possibly be any other changes made except ID all, AH tooltip comparison and density. No.
I was expecting more from you, overneathe. This isn't some catchphrase. I really was. You're better than this.
What did you expect? People always want stuff ASAP no matter what it is. Some stuff requires testing, thus why a PTR. Efficiency drives this game and if people test efficiency is still not up to par - it gets updated a few hours later on a testing realm, instead of waiting for it to be tested internally and released, yet again not tested by thousands of people but likely less than a hundred. PTR is awesome and people need to appreciate it.
Diablo 3: in Beta since launch, and the billions of combined hours spent in dank spaces farming mobs combine to create The One Ring, which has the force of Infinite Labor (+99,999 all stats)
I'm on hiatus from D3. The proverbial straw that broke the camels back? Individual ID'ing....I just couldn't fucking do it anymore. IT's so frustrating ....it got so on my nerves that it was like a nail being dragged across a chalkboard with every click.
I don't weather to laugh at this or actually PM you the number to a good shrink... You quit a game for a simple mechanic that can easily be avoided by not picking up everything you see on the ground? Really?
lol...no no no
I had quit twice already. Was in constant disillusionment with the game, torn.
Think of it like this;
You have a girlfriend that has been getting on your nerves for awhile. Certain things she does just really gets on your nerves. You've been thinking of breaking up with her for some time.
One day you're sitting next to her on the couch and she's popping her gum, over and over again *crack pop pop crack
That's it....had enough....
This is why they call it "the straw that broke the camels back". A straw is a rather small, seemingly insignificant burden to bear. Yet, take all the burdens one is bearing and add just one little bit more weight to it, the cusp has been breached.

The second sentence is especially enlightening: "This is a reference to any process by which cataclysmic failure (a broken back) is achieved by a seemingly inconsequential addition, a single straw."

I agree with the sentiment you're handing out. However, I think there's just so many people who's patience has been exhausted. Any delay smacks the player as tenfold.
I didn't quit....per say. No enraged fit was thrown. I'm just sitting down until the next *slight upgrade, and we'll see how long it lasts. I've said it for a few months now, I'll say it again. I believe D3 has a promising future, but it's gonna take the full implementation of an x-pac to accomplish this.
Well... keep in mind that not everyone here is a native English speaker. And even if people know this one (or guess its meaning), proverbs are still misinterpreted or simply neglected quite often. That's the danger of using them, and that's why oftentimes people are discouraged from using them, especially in scientific publications (whenever I'm reviewing papers, such proverbs really give away whether the authors are native speakers or not - and I've seen co-reviewers not understanding them and using them against the authors).
I don't have any such straw, and I don't think that my camel's back is broken. I really think it's just the typical on/off time that I've had with almost every game, especially D2. What contributed to it is the fact that I'm looking forward to the changes (monster density, but also itemization) and don't wanna play the game without them. Waiting for the patch (or maybe even expansion). In D2 it was the ladder reset that made me come back every time.

Shamefully, my arsenal of proverbs doesn't use the metric system.
The thing is, whatever they release now can't be worse than the current situation so I m really not sure why PRT.
They had 6 years to plan, test and do whatever they wanted.
I personally play Diablo to get some rest from my work and university but I feel sad for people who've spent a lot of money on items that will be pretty much worthless when new legendaries are released.
How much longer do you guys want to make us wait and feel like beta testers. Make a change, stick with it, tweak it with 1.08xxxx patch if you have to ...but another PTR means weeks b4 we get changes....WEAK!!!
Um, what you're suggesting would be using us as beta testers by pushing unfinished changes to the live build.
@zeyke23 I'm suggesting they use their millions of dollars they have made off of us, expert devs/ whether 20 or 100 and put out a quality patch that we (the general fan base/ gaming community) don't have to wait ten years- 5 of which we are doing the work for them - to fix the game

And you think this would be faster than the PTR? Testing is testing, it takes time.

I'm sure you have enough experience in the industry to give proper advice to companies that have been doing this for 20 years.

Touché ... And I'm sure u know me well enough to tell me I don't ...weak reply for a moderator, com on bro
All for PTR - yeah we do not get the content faster but if it can help to find newly introduced bugs/exploits or find areas for missed monster densisty increases then good.
In fact I want a PTR up 24/7 so that some hardcore players can test it all the time and Blizz can buff skills and let players test them. Either the players(testers) create overpowered builds that need to be scaled back, or they create some better balanced/viable builds and those are released into production.

Hey, who's to say, you might be Gabe Newell, I might be so wrong it hurts. But everything Blizzard does has been a torn in your eye, or at least that's the impression I get from all your posts. But you know, instead of acting like you do try being at least a bit constructive with it. There are tons of players on these forums dissatisfied with the game that are able to express their opinions in a way that doesn't insult an entire company.
You use tremendous hyperbole with your statements, like "don't have to wait ten years- 5 of which we are doing the work for them", so how do I treat you seriously when all your posts are like that? "I dont remember this happening at all in D2, they put a patch out with NO PTR". Is that how you want today's games to be? No information, just slap some changes and expect 10 million to be happy.
I won't even be surprised if you have a say in a big video game company. But I'd be mighty interested to see the directions you've taken towards your community.
I guess my point should have been that I would expect more new content to be the cause of needing a PTR. I'd all an mob density seems like a numbers thing to me. Like when asked about leg drop rate Jay said "we doubled it" ... That kind of thing

Thank you......
Feels odd explaining age-old sayings, doesn't it?

Really not fair for those people...
"I just hope this game doesn't have Blizzard polish and isn't going to come soon."
Um, what you're suggesting would be using us as beta testers by pushing unfinished changes to the live build.
Actually, it's kind of a smart move.
20 Internal testers < 50 000 testers. Also 20 is a generous number even for the biggest of companies.
