Now that you have a gaurentee'd rare with 5 stacks does magic find make a huge difference? I realize this might be a stupid question but when I've been farming there have been no shortage of rare items and don't have MF on my WD like I do with my monk. Does Magic find also give you a better chance on item stats or is that completely random?
Well, the Magic Find stat says % Chance to Find Better Magic Items.
So I guess it is still something useful to have. I, personally, don't have any at all and I just use luck to find my drops.
I consider the relative value of mf% on items too low compared to the guaranteed bonuses of NV. Wouldn't spend serious cash on mf items. And no, mf does not affect stats or anything other than the magic type(color) of the item.
I sold all my MF after the patch. I was dying too much whilst trying to finish mobs/ bosses, and it doesnt work on chests which is what i had the set for =S.
i switch to 269 MF when about to kill and sure as shit doesnt seem to help me at all...
i have found 1!!!!!! item in 200+ hours of farming thats actually good for my DH, id like to share a big fuck you to BLizzard

MF gives you a better shot at higher rarity loot (grey < white < blue < yellow < green/orange). The more MF you have the less you find on the left end of that scale and the more you find on the right end of the scale.
MF will not give you better stats on items, better-rolled items, more champion packs, or anything of the sort. There's a pretty good post in the theorcrafting forum that made the main page. You should read it, it will help you understand MF a lot better.
On topic: MF seems to be worth it so long as you're not drastically slowing yourself down. Speed is still quite an important part of the equation, and you'd be good to check your rares/hour rate with normal gear and with MF gear. That's the only true metric that will answer your question.
In my farm gear I end up sitting on 329% MF and act 1 is so easy I dont have any trouble at all. Keeping sprint up I just rush through the maps looking for elites and fill 1-2 stash with rares in no time at all.. I know the later acts have a higher chance to drop ilvl 63 items, but act 1 runs makes up for this in its rares/hr rate by far.
Funny how so many people still dont get how MF works <.<
I run 297% mf with 5 stacks on my regular gear (just bought all my regular gear with mf on it, no mf set), and the difference is extremely noticeable.
It doesn't hurt my farm speed (champion pack in act3 inferno without crazy affixes takes me ~10-13 seconds to kill) and get usually 3-4 rares from a champion pack.
Still got 2 pieces I didnt change to ones with mf and am looking to do it asap.
tldr: dont keep mf set and switch to it, buy your regular gear with mf on it, costs a bit more but you won't regret it
