Over the past couple days as people have been prepping for release they've been setting up their plans for teams. There seems to be a general consensus that the DH doesn't give a lot to teams in DH compared to the Monk(heals), Wiz(AoE), WD, and Barb.
THe DH doesn't seem to give any particular solo perks and so I have to ask, do you think the DH does anything more than ad variety to the game? Obviously it's an awesome class and I'll be playing it personally but it seems to be set up as having only an average potential in solo and a huge disadvantage in co-op. Plus the fact that the DH will likely be widely played it prob won't get buffed.
For all the complaints about the WD and Wizards survivability at least they have strong team potential, do you think the DH has kind of flopped?
Disclaimers:
I understand that contrary to Jay Wilson's philosophy not everyone thinks of Diablo as a co-op based series , but, since D3 will be designed as such the usual reason for placing in weaker classes only for variety cannot stand since it will hinder players in co-op mode based on an uninformed starting choice.
The rumors of the DHs demise have been greatly exaggerated.
It is impossible to determine, for better or worse, the end-game ability of a character when all we had access to was effectively the tutorial. That would be like judging a WoW character's end game viability based on it's first 5 levels.
Anyone claiming to know the viability of a character is either A) talking out of their butthole or working for Blizzard or in the internal beta which tested the entire game.
Lol, fer starters, beta was only up to lv13
and even then the crowd control DH's bring is freaking awesome, specially when you consider how often it can be used.
Caltraps, as an example, was cool for slowing down 1 pack while you busied yourself with another, I cant see that being anything but essential in Inferno.
Some utility provided by Demon hunters include
+15% damage mitigation buff
-25% Damage dealt debuff
+12% damage taken debuff
1% less lifesteal debuff
"spammable" chance to stun moves, and lots of non-spammable ones as well.
numerous abilities with snares.
Perhaps not the most overwhelming list ever, but its something.
If DH need more group synergy a potent addition would be to make Caltrops "bait the trap" rune provide 10% crit to other players standing in its AoE. that would provide a fairly unique and potent synergy with melee types.
I think most people are looking down on the DH because on paper the stats and skills show it as have less survivability. What people need to understand is that the survivability of a DH is in it's mobility, Vault/Smokescreen/"disengage shot" (w/e too lazy to find the actual name) these types of abilities will be all the survival abilities a good player will need to avoid dmg in Inferno mode while the less experienced players hit a brick wall because they lack the reflexs and/or knowledge of how to play the class.
As for co-op buffs... they have what I call the kiting buff.... it's a super cool debuff that they put on the monsters that make them chase the DH around senselessly while the other grp members casually spam random buttons while watching Ellen on their second monitor.
really? another one? everyone needs to stop theorycrafting and wait for the damn game. for realz.
This x1000 every second thread has become questions we can't possibly know the answers to. All will be revealed in 4 days time
I'm a Loremaster.. I do know the answers to everything. For example I know that your painfully anxious for the game to come out and that you dream about it at night.

Trolls, I really don't care
I think we don't know nearly enough about the rest of the game to take any conclusions on this though.

DH will be very useful end game i guarantee.....
+15% damage mitigation buff
-25% Damage dealt debuff
+12% damage taken debuff
