It's that price for two reasons. First, it's ActiBlizz, and with the asshole of assholes at the helm (Bobby Kotick), they will squeeze every penny out it's customers they can. Secondly, because they can, the popularity and demand for the game allows it.
So, therefore the only way to prevent this is to stop being a sucker and vote with your wallet. Otherwise, pay up or do without...
Meh. It took them a long time to make and the game still looks as fun and enticing as it did years ago so to me they've earned their coin. Development wasn't perfect of course, but hindsight is 20/20.
You can boycot if 1$ = 1 euro kills you so much, but it's not going to end soon. The best you might be able to find is 55 or even 50 euros if you're super lucky. I found SC2 at launch for 55 instead of 60 at a local retailer for example and I'm pretty sure a few are doing it for D3 too.
The brits have it even worse, and I think Australians aren't too well off. (?)
Besides, if a business is expected to grow but everyone refuses to pay more you've got to do something like cut manuals. Stick a $70 price tag on something and no one wants it, especially in these hard times. I don't endorse it per se but I do understand it and sympathize. I also am willing to pay for the convenience (box doesn't take space)
Of course, in this rare occasion I'm getting CE but I just so happen to have a RROD 1st generation xbox 360 whose white color will make for an excellent pedestal for my D3 CE box. After 3 years of uselessness it's found its cause in life.
Yeah it's really expensive. I'm unhappy about paying £45 for the digital copy when it will be £35 in shops but I want to play the game the moment it goes live so digital it is...
I spent 3 times that amount on drink last weekend, if you can't afford it go play cards...
It isn't really so much about affording it. It is about not supporting bad behavior by companies.
The shocking bad behaviour of a games company...my god

I dont see the logic why digital download is 60e and boxed is cheaper...
Because game companies won't undercut the stores, or even *appear to undercut* the stores. If you want it digitally, then you'll pay. Or you can go to the store and pay a bit less, which makes the store profit. As someone else says, you don't get new blood on digital sales very much. You get new blood in stores, so, the game company can't undercut them if they want the stores to offer their product.

Your username just made my night. Hello, fellow thinking American.

Yes. It's there on my pre-downloaded copy.
Perhaps, but Bobby K certainly has the brains to take all the euro fanbois' money.
And he's as american as it gets.
