Anyone significantly annoyed with the low player count allowed in the game?
One great aspect of D2 was all joining a game and progressing, even when you were all at different progression points.
Four player caps seems significantly low. Seems completely backwards.
Off topic: More I read about this game the less I understand the reasoning for these changes. Looking forward to the next notch in a series for a franchise should be exciting, not concerning.
They said they would like to have more than 4 players, but once they start going over 4 the screen gets too chaotic and hard to tell what's going on. It's for game play reasons, and that's about it.
I think everyone would like to play with more people, including them but it just isn't ideal for the game play.
I haven't played it so I can't really give a real opinion, only what has already been said by the people testing it/making it.
Not everything has to be the same in a franchise.. otherwise it would be boring, would you SERIOUSLY want D3 to just be D2 with better graphics?
Ever play SC2?
I don't believe everyone expects the game to be exactly the same, however, I believe a lot of people expect to see what was great expanded. I'm seeing more restrictions, less expansion, excluding the general content released with any new game.
Read these forums, any D3 forum really... I cant recall another installent surrounded with so much contempt, not saying that outweighs the excitement. It is alarming.
SC2 and SC1, got races, some primary units and the playstyle as the same, it's an RTS, it feels the same, ALL RTS feels the same, red alert, C&C, dune etc ...
That's the core part of the franchise, but they changed a lot in SC2 from SC1..
From what I read out of most of the posts lately and especially on the diablo3.com forum is whine about new stuff, thats not the same as the "original".. (and then they say D2 instead of D1 which was infact the original)
What "restrictions" do you see in D3 compared to D2? and don't say skill, coz with the no point system you have more choice..
Less expansions? .. D2 had 1 ?.. I'm sure we will get at least 2 ...
People refer to D2 as it is generally received as the better of the two and the most recent installment to date, also irrelevent. Blizzard is taking a different route with D3, it is a different game. A difference to a degree many seem not too excited about. I lean both ways. On one hand I cant be in a game with all of the friends I would hope to be, but on the other I can buy items instead of farming meph all day at the expense of my social life.
I think most of us that played D2 when it was released have real jobs now and can afford to buy items rather than farming them.

Of all the changes so far in D3 that's announced so far, the 2mins. CD of the last tier(s)skill is the only system I'm not thrilled about. It's not even a system, just a gameplay balancing thing. It's really too bad that you can't accept change, blizzard had said it before, hardcore diablo fans had sad it before and I will say it again, this is not Diablo 2.
Oh and good examples of 4 players co-op games that I have played, Vindictus and Dragon Nest (there's a raid option to make it 6 players for vindictus but only in raid bosses so it's a bigger map and BIGGER bosses). I know they're different games but they're both action oriented rpg's. It's chaos because of today's graphics especially spell effects but 4 players seems about right.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
4 players is perfect for a co-op hack n slash game. Generally when you were playing D2, did you actually have 8 people all in the same place, or did you generally break off into smaller groups? Most the time, 4 people would be doing all the work and the rest would be leeching if the entire room was filled. I would actually prefer the cap be however many classes there are, so each expansion would expand the cap hah, but oh well.
