Man i cant wait to see the faces of the Mexicans when its 2012 and nothing happens.
2012 means end of the world to Americans. Mayans =/= Mexicans. Mexicans don't believe much in it. I can say that because I am Mexican, born and living up to date in Mexico.
Back on topic, I expect Blizzard to release D3 either in December (less likely) or June 2012.
And he is endlessly quoted from one random answer he made. Give or take 2-3 months depending on how things go I would imagine.
No way. 4 months at least to refine to Gold after the Beta. We're only going to see a small percent of the game in the Beta, which are likely the more polished parts they've worked on enough to present to the masses. It will surely take at least 4 months to polish, move to Gold, print disks, and settle shipping with distributers.
I've been part of and or followed many Betas, all of which took 4-8 months. 75% of them where console Betas but the PC ones also fell into the same time frames.

I agree with Winged - 4 months is a realistic time frame for the Beta. Could go the full 6 months, but I doubt it.
Lets cheer up abit and draw conclusions after tomorrows conference call
No we must endlessly rehash the same old stuff again and again.
I suppose it at least passes the time.
Passing the time until D3 is what is keeping this site running, lets be honest here lol. Talking about the same things is the only thing to do.. That is until tomorrow!! WOOT

lol, sorry about that, I honestly didn't mean this as a serious release date speculation. I wrote this as a "it would be ironic/funny if it was the release date"
Just like the movie "The Omen" was released on 6/6/06

Well now that we know Beta is Q3, say beta is 3-6 months, they have to still make revisions to the rest of the game that wasn't part of the Beta, have the board vote on which Gold Client is right for release, deal with merchandise licensing/distributing, print disks, set and prep distributors.. 2012.. lol

What they said was that weren't guaranteeing any 2011 launches, as Flux over on Diii.net points out, they say this every time, it's ostensibly a legal disclaimer only.
"Still pushing hard for 2011". Obviously it's still the goal, and we know how Blizzard can be, but still no reason not to remain optimistic for a Christmas 2011 release. We can speculate on the dev cycle all we want, but no offense Winged I'll take Blizzard's own estimation over arm-chair game developers, you know?
I see your view point Kiserai, and I understand you're trust in one over the other. I just can't imagine even with the man power and tools Blizzard has to work with that they can push development to their quality standard, and push all the paper work out in this year. Even if the game goes gold say November, there are still thousands of companies they need to work with for distribution and licensing of merchandise. Sadly gold isn't the light at the end of the tunnel for game development.

Yeah, and I'm relatively ignorant of the dev process which is why I don't try to speculate too much, but this is Blizzard, one would imagine a lot of the logistical groundwork to be finished ahead of time. December is still a long ways off, if they're already into full internal testing & looking at beta before the summer is over...
While I wouldn't call myself enlightened, I'm very confident in what I know of development processes for both console, and PC games. I an minoring in graphic design, which by nature teaches you of such things in detail. Also I've been part of, and or waited and researched many betas in the past, mostly console but also a good 10 or so PC games.
Blizzard is a huge, powerful company yes, but the massive amount of logistics that goes along with that means that it takes them just as long to push out content as any other company, and in some cases might even mean it will take longer to set everything in stone.

How many Blizzard quotes does it take for it to become true?
Somethings will forever be undefinable.

This obviously isn't 100000% saying no D3 in 2011, but still.. Called it
