So watching the Siegebreaker Assault Beast battle (again) I began thinking about what the last fight would be like. Since we are already given a boss that nearly takes up the whole screen, how would Diablo size up to this. Could he/she ( I say she because the speculation on Leah becoming Diablo is a possibility ) be around the same size of the Siegebreaker Assault Beast? Will Diablo be a mid-range size but with incredible attacks along with some environmental madness to deal with? Or could we be dealing with a Titan of a boss where you could possibly be fighting his/her head and hands only?
I would only assume that Diablo's size would stay fairly consistent to the other games. He didnt really seem as though he was overscaled in the orig two games, and I dont think Blizz is trying to re-create his presence.
Maybe different version of diablo. (?) where he grows each times you get his life bar to zero or to 75% then 50% then 25% or something like that. I think boss fights will change very very very VERY (cant emphasize this enough) VERY much with the experience Blizzard has with WoW boss fights. There are things that are completely new or have been refocused on since D2 to wow. Things like Phases (where boss will change his fighting style depending on timing or his hp %), adds (where boss calls normal mobs you have to deal with before dpsing the boss again), positioning (fire death on 90% of screen, if you are in it you die), activating (be it clicking on something like the Mag fight of burning crusade, or knocking over a bookshelf or pillar on a boss as seen is 100% possible in D3), 2 minor bosses then main boss. Really almost countless other encounters have been executed by blizzard since D2 has come out.
******** DISCLAIMER***** I want to stop anyone before they say a word, i understand there are no healers, and that this is not wow, but there are orbs, and this is blizzard still, D2 inspired WoW, why cant WoW (which was inspired by d2) re-inspire D3? Everything mentioned is in Blizzards wheelhouse and i can almost guarantee has at least been considered by the D3 team. *************
There's no actual reason why Diablo should be bigger than his minions. Isn't it a tradition already (in movies etc), that the main villain has at least one Goliath-sized henchman?
Blizzard didn't release the final boss for any acts yet right?
Skeleton king is not an act boss is he ?
No he's not an Act boss. It has been implied that Belial is involved in Act 2, and as a Lesser Evil he could be an Act boss, but nothings at all confirmed.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Not sure of how this would work on a top view game. But having a Diablo with 2 or 3 forms with different spells and characteristcs (like MvsC2 boss), I think is plausible.

Although I don´t think we gonna see a huge giant Diablo, don´t forget that in D1 and D2 he was bounded to a human body, so it should be consistent with a human shaped form and reasonable size... now he is free to assume whatever form he truly has.
Well from what we've seen Diablo looks like this in D3:
No word on size, but if they do anything like the Sin War books he's able to change form in order to terrify people. That could get really interesting. Either way, he definitely looks considerably larger than a person, if only in the length across his head.

I don't know about making Diablo ultra big, but I think he deserves to be a bit bigger than he was in previous games. Either that, or give him multiple forms, like someone above has already said. Or perhaps, multiple battles spread through out the acts against Diablo's form(s) would be pretty neat, too! I always wanted to fight the dark wanderer that appeared outside Kurast. My first time getting to Act3 I thought I'd be able to fight him as a boss, and was a bit disappointed.
What I would rather see is a more interesting battle, regardless of difficulty(Normal, NM, Hell). Example, fighting Diablo in D2, he had a fire wave that was a 360 radius spell that covered a majority of the map, but would be stopped by walls. Same with his lightning breath move; I'd like to see more extra-high damage spells/moves from bosses that you almost have to dodge/avoid/hide from(unless you spent a lot of points in defensive traits and with gear above that particular boss' difficulty).
I thought one of the funnest experiences I got from D2 was fighting Diablo and Baal in Hell difficulty for the first time. Diablo you had to avoid his outward expanding radius fire, his firestorm, as well as his lightning breath: there was (almost) no way to take any of those spells in Hell on your first run through without exceptional gear. Baal also had his blue arrow stomp that knocked back and slowed, as well as a mana-draining short range spell that crippled you to only normal attacks pretty much if you didn't have mana leech or mana/rejuv potions with you. This is one of the reasons I'm glad D3 got rid of town portals.
I like your kind if thInking helfeather the multiple forms of Diablo idea is great. Say in act 1 as a mini boss you fight a strange fire demon which was deciding strong, and right after the last blow a crack opens up underneath it's corpse as it realistically falls into the firely hole. Soon after the big T comes down to speak with you about that suspicious demon you fought before. Just a thought lol. On topic though, I don't doubt there will be al sizes of bosses, and even some that have stages of its life where after you take it's health down a certain amount it's size changes, maybe even it's form as a whole. Like a small sneaky demon into a huge tornado form when you piss it off lol.

Now that would be lame. Last time I played a game like that was Devil May Cry 4. That wasn't even the final boss, and it still sucked.
No.

Or is the size different in-game? I never actually paid attention character height in the game.
