Bashiok... first off I think D3 is looking great, and love seeing the new content and such released every so often. I am very excited for D3 and even like the idea of BoE end game items to keep the economy on track. But here comes the big worry for me...
www.D2jsp.org obviously you know of this site. For anyone that doesn't you can collect forum gold and use it through the use of trader moderators etc to trade for items in D2 currently. And forum gold has been talked about to be used when D3 comes out too... people are beginning to save up alot of forum gold in hopes to use it to 'get rich quick' in Diablo 3. I will admit that i have a decent sum of gold on that website, but feel like the use of this site may potentially put a giant dent in the D3 economy. Alot of end game/high skilled players use this site, and it will seem to give an unfair advantage on a game that should be starting with a completely blank slate.
Just my thoughts. Any feedback on this would be awesome.

I used to use jsp, but a lot of people on there are just... meh...
Anyway, I hope Blizzard puts something in the ToS that says you can't trade in-game items for anything other than other in-game items. Then if they notice that a site is allowing item trading for forum gold or anything else they can stop them. I think they could too, with all the money they have they could afford all the lawyers.

this....
people who are "good" or "wealthy" in the diablo 3 community should have achieved such a status as a result of skill and time invested... not because they have deep IRL pockets
Putting it in the TOS won't stop it. You really can't stop it anymore than you can stop a friend giving his friend an item in return for a buck or two.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Diablo 3 just needs a better, faster, easier trade system than what jsp offers. This would lead most of the people out of the forums since most of the people don't spend real cash for the forum gold. They just trade there because they think its easier (and probably is) than spamming trade channel or making trade games.
Diablo III's out-game trading system will fix all these problems.
I wouldnt be so sure on that...a very large portion of the players on D2 use that site and 99% of them will probably move onto D3 and want to continue using there wealth built up over years in FG for D3 so there going to try there best to keep that site growing in popularity. I really hope your right tho!!!
Glad to see some responses on this guys. Yeah we can all just hope that JSP doesn't really handicap the economy of the much awaited and wonderful D3. I really hope blizz does something about it tho.
I would say what would really help normal players is a web application, done by Blizzard, that interacts with your account items and gold, so that you could have the convenience of out-of-game trading where ever you are. Because even in JSP, the accounts don't work dynamically with the game accounts, so people obviously get jipped here and there, and there is some more hassle, obviously.
So, game account-integrated online web trading application, for trading on the go, and more useful trade-seeking options and trade-undertaking mechanics. Diablo II's trading mechanics obviously sucked or we wouldn't be where we are now.
Thats a pretty sick idea seth. Something like that would rock ass if it was in D3.....at the very least an AH like feaure would help sooo much...assuming we have a concrete currency we will always needs and not crazy rare rings or runes this time around.
Well, balancing with items is another issue and something that I hope improves. I don't know how they would best address that. Hopefully, gold will actually turn out to be a steady and concrete standard in Diablo III like they are claiming. If not, well... 10x SoJ 4 High Griffs, anyone?
I think as long as they have an active hand in the trading and item field, things will not get out of hand. The reason it did in Diablo II was because of neglect on their part. Things should have been patched years ago and the trading options aren't optimal.

Well I guess also back then they didnt expect the game to develop the way it did and have a currency or anything outside basic gold lol...
The only real time I remember gold being worth anything in trading (pre-LoD) is when people sold normal bows and lances/pikes to transmute to rares. I think we used to sell them for 150,000 gold? That was, of course, before uniques became the overwelming norm. I loved some of my rares.

They really should just put in something into the Terms of Use such as this
-All DiabloTM items are owned by ActivisionBlizzard and therefore such trading is not prohibited unless it is withing Diablo 3's in-game Trading System. You herbey abide to the terms that you cannot create any type of website for the trading and or selling of any in-game items for anything outside, and or inside of the game. Also you may not participate in any transaction on such websites if they are created. You must hereby adhere to these rules and if not we have the full right to take legal action against you and said website.
I think it's a shame that people had to use D2jsp. I remember walking into my Act 1 game wait for a guy to join and hed be like level 20 and just walk by everythign and they'd die and id be falling behind and only get the quest and no exp.

Honestly, how does other people doing this stuff affect you? It might change the market a bit but that is about it. Doesn't impact on my own personal enjoyment at all that some douchebag is paying money to get good items.
Actually it does. That means im not going to be gettin good items cause people will just only buy them oofff the site and i don't feel like paying money so i'll have to actually work for my items cause you bought yours and as such you need yours and will not sell me it. It ruins the economy which they say their trying to actually make it work. And it's annoying cause you get an unfair disatvantage over a guy whos been MFING for ten hours for the same itm you got and when he finally gets it your lvl 99 because you bought the item used it ASAP and rushed the game n dthen did chaos runs.
